In a Lost podcast many years ago Damon and Carlton claimed that there was a critical clue which had been frequently missed by many fans. After years of speculation I believe we now know what that clue was. Watch this video below from the Pilot and all will make sense!

Ah, so the whole plot of Lost is just a really complex match of Backgammon, played by Jacob and The Man in Black..
@christoffer4862
@christoffer4862 2 жыл бұрын
Correct. And it is perfectly reasonable that the Man in Black is behind the Dharma initiative, continuing the work of "his people" to find a Loophole. He is also behind The Numbers, bogusly picked as a serial number to the reality throughout Lost. The goal was to change the numbers, which was accomplished in Season 6.

The writers didn't know EXACTLY where they were going from the start, they had a general idea, but it wasn't totally planned. As the series went on, they wrote according to what they had already shown, in order to fit things together.

@LeleMorrison It's defiantly foreshadowing. The secret Locke was referring to though, was that he was in a wheel chair, the fact that he could walk on the island. They weren't referring to the secret of the scene, 'Do you want to know a secret' had to do with the fact of the miracle that he could walk.

Mind = blown. "One is light...One is dark..." And that's exactly what this season is winding down to. Except, well, I personally think that neither side is "good" or "evil," simply "light" or "dark" and both have positive and negative motivations, etc. But that's just me. LOST has, up until now, been very clear about how everyone has the potential for good and bad in them and that everything is shades of grey. I'd like to hope it concludes with that.

Yeah I've been thinking of this scene for a while now. And its always been a recurring theme in Lost mythos, but even then we don't really know who Jacob is to quickly call him good... People are so quick to think they have it mapped out already, that its that easy..

Well I should clarify I mean it's hard to follow the plot in later seasons SOMETIMES, not always. Also I don't wanna go into detail because I'm aware some of you probably haven't seen the whole thing yet and I'm cautious about spoilers. But I think people who's watched the last couple of seasons get what I mean.

When you watch scenes like this it's funny how slow paced it is compared to seasons 4 5 and 6, I guess they had to hurry the plot along so the show wouldn't carry on for too many years but I think it moved a bit to quickly because you hardly have time to process what's happening in the plot. That said I like each season the way it is, and I think 6 was the most interesting cause it had the most "Monster" appearances.

Mr. Echo was the Smoke Monster. It's also possible that Walt since he's special, that the smoke monster could have been him too. The smoke too is also said to have been Jack's dead (Which I dont' believe). And Alex, Ben's daughter. The smoke monster can take the form of people who died on the island. Yemi (Echo's brother) died on the island.

Do you really think this is the clue Damon and Carlton were referring to? I always found this scene quite obvious, only I just didn't think of that there are two personifications of good and evil like Jacob and his nemesis. Couldn't it be some other scene we still don't get? Also quite nice when the camera shows the backgammon board: more white stones than black ones...or just over-interpretation ^^

I think eko shoose at the end not the way lock wanted, and therefore must die, remember lock got saved from alot of weird forces, at the end eko had still questions and had more then once a chance to shoose the side of the island, but he was to much a treat and therefore he must be eliminated, TBH if i meet this person at night irl i would fear him also :)

"Oh, so they're all on the island because they're candidates." Seriously, Lost's biggest problem was making its characters seem all important.
@Samsasrenjet
@Samsasrenjet 9 жыл бұрын
***** Are you referring to Locke contrasting good and evil? That's a very broad monologue, so I wouldn't really call it foreshadowing since it's applicable to almost anything. Instead I'd say Locke's monologue sets the tone for Lost. I also wouldn't call it elegant because of where it's situated in the story. True Detective pulls something similar (stop reading this and go download True Detective if you haven't seen it yet) in it's last episode. (Seriously, spoilers.) In the show's final scene, Matthew Mcconaughey's character looks at the night sky and remarks how inspirational it is that the light of the stars is steadily puncturing the vacuum's darkness. This plays out great because it clarifies the show's theme at the end, giving viewers an opportunity to think about what they saw. On the other hand, Locke's monologue tries to promise the viewers that there will be deep moral questions to come. It could have been profound, but it comes off like a cheap hook, especially considering all of the meandering that follows. Lost was an ambitious show. It provided what, 120 hours worth of entertainment? There was no way, no matter how talented the production team could have been, such a massive undertaking could have ever have come out with a clear vision. Carelessly implemented characters like Libby, Caesar, and the Japanese temple guy (Hiroyuki Sanada) go to show how Lost stumbled. There was just too much to Lost for Lost to solve. So, when the final season came along and the writers felt the pressure to leave fans satisfied, they chose to tack on a nice little bow of meaningfulness to send the show off. They injected meaning by making the characters extra-important. The concept of candidates is ludicrous within just the context of the show, and it's also underdeveloped to a fault. True Detective does something similar to Lost's ending by giving it's two protagonists a relatively clean resolution. It worked in that show because True Detective mainly focused on just it's two protagonists. Lost on the other hand focused on a massive cast and unrelated phenomena, and should have accordingly strove to resolve it's mysteries. I love Lost, and I appreciate how interesting and provoking it was throughout its run. However, it has its share of problems, and giving its character's too much importance is one of them.
