With the welding I was always told it doesn't matter how pretty it is as long as it works. Nice build up, I use angle iron to make a frame for the door that stands out from the stove body, this makes it easier to create a door and get the door seal right.

First gas bottle wood burner I saw was in some traveller friends of my Dad in the early 90's. Installed in a lovely chrome and mirrored twin axle 1950's original caravan with separate bedroom. Really threw out the heat which was nice on a cold and rainy day.

Congrats for the idea! The stove looks very nice. Thank you for sharing this, it is inspiring! I want to buy a mini stove to install it in my tiny van and seeing you doing this already, gives me more courage to do it. I also chose the stove, instead of the diesel heater, because it is cheaper.... And thank you for showing us a different kind of life style, one who offers such freedom. Hugs from Europe! 🤗🤗🤗

Im watching it carefully and seems very nice job . But i do have a suggestion for you . As you know if we happened to use this kind of heater in small room or camper , then it would burn the oxygen of the room quickly . So what i did once on mine one ,?, I weld a tiny metal pipe to where it takes the air in to heater on the bottom ( where you've put screws ) and then to adjust the incoming air , i did modified a little air tap the way i could either open the tap to get more air or the other way around . And i did run that pipe out of the room ( or camper ) . So that way the incoming air was from out side not inside while the heat was staying inside . Just a suggestion .

I had DIY wood burning stove made out of bottle. But.. Smoke and CO2 detector (or two) is a must. Also I added thermal switches mounted them on back wall away from the stove and metal chimney feed throughs, connected it to a warbler. They work as high temperature alarms. Just a safety procuration that may safe ones life. Edited: ad a fan 12V computer type, will boost efficiency and makes heating up easier.

that looks great and a wee bit of Blackfriars matt black stove paint and your welds will look factory...nice one.....my only concern would be water entering the flue without a domed cap..id also do spillage test...just a lit taper moved around the stove door when its running full pelt to ensure that the flame of the taper is not blowing out into the van but hey...if it aint smokin it aint broken lol

Ash, coal fires like air from below, wood fires burn better ( more efficiently with air from the side or above. If your going to be burning wood, put a vent on the door, take that grate out and put a vermiculite fire brick in it and fill around it to flatten it off with fire clay and you have a great wood burning stove that's also easy to clean out. You can also not use a vermiculite fire brick by always leaving an inch or two of Ash in the bottom, it's really just as good. With the gate and bottom air vents, with some vermiculite fire brick around the lower level inside walls, sides and back, not front, then you'd have a great anthracite burner ( coal stove ) Great job all the same mate 👍👍👍

Love it mate....I've got a tip for you if you're interested?..A cool fresh air intake from your old shower plug hole! It would be way more efficient and it wouldn't try sucking in air and dreaded moisture from other air gaps like windows and door gaps etc..this would make sure that your van would be bone dry. The cleaner the burn the more efficient it is.🤩 Marshmallows on the shitter 🤣🤣🤣👌 Best Regards Adam🤙 .

@frozenoem1

Cold ash is okay for outside disposal. But, warm embers or still hot ash disposed outside can cause fires. Only been wood burning for 48 years, prefer to keep my 37Million acres of woodlands unburnt. Reason I suggested air tight container for ash.Have survived a few woodland fires caused by people who didn’t let ash go cold, or never extinguished campfires.

i like the door, so im making a new door, but welding is not for everyone so my one has a glued on upside down drainage for the chimney to squeeze over, and a hole on the bottom for ventilation and the ashes and the whole thing sits up in an old 3 legged stool for the old billy can to collect the ashes. too lazy to paint it or make a video but it rocks

Keep in mind that I've only used it for a couple weeks, that being said, so far so good kzfaq.infoUgkxAU9pOCSV9Y5JprooHvfxTpOrt4hx8uRM . Using it at 8 ft. by 8ft. deer blind that is insulated. I have to keep the door cracked for it to get enough air to burn, but that is very likely the wood I've used. Much better quality than I expected for the price. Now if I can just take it easy in the beginning it won't be 90 degrees in my blind. All in all it seems like a keeper.
