Great build once again from you Mr modder. My proffesion is heavy machinery. (Operating and teaching others) And it's correct that when you move the stick back, the loader rises. Think of it like there was a pivoting point between yourself and the bucket. I have my D5 dozer set up like you have it, but it causes problems because it should be steering and drive on the left stick and the bucket/blade on the right stick. This is how my brain is wired since about 35 years back. But really nice build, maybe even lower geared motors would be possible. Thanx again for inspiration.
@RCModders5 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I must admit I was going to put the arm on the left, but the mode 1 transmitter that I was going to use only had one mix and I needed 3. I used the mode 2 Spektrum transmitter - as I thought this is what a lot of people might have - or something like it. I’ll probably bind this to the DX10 - which lets you choose what is on a spring by screwing up or loosening a small screw. I can then try the set up you describe - as it might be more intuitive for a right handed person anyway - my cars, boats & aircraft all have throttle on the left, so it makes sense to me. 🙂👍

You might have a point on the gearing, I think they do go slightly lower - I’ll have a look on EBay.

@@thatsmyrc Haha, yes I would like to build one like yours, brother. My D5 is not even close to the one you showed us😎. Sure, it works, but not as smoothly as yours. And about the setup, I have it like that because I thought it could work. But like I mentioned, my brain is hardwired with steering on the left hand and blade/bucket on the right hand. That's because 99% of all real machine's are that way. And like I said, I have been operating loaders,excavators,graders,dozer,jumpers,forestrymachines and various farm equipment both professional and for fun since about 7-8 years old so I do actually have a bit experience. I will happily help if I can.

What an endearing little machine! I´m very much looking forward to seeing how you worked out the solutions to all the little problems you must have had to overcome to get this done so neatly. One thing which does slightly puzzle me is your decision to have a downward stick movement correspond with an upward movement of the bucket/forks. I´m also looking forward to finding out how you arranged the bucket´s clever self-levelling feature. I was once lucky enough to enjoy half an hour´s tuition on a JCB3X and that most certainly didn´t have a self-levelling bucket!
@RCModders5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Del, I really like this one & it works nicely - very easy to control - both the wood chip clearance and the fork lift challenge could keep a person entertained for hours! It did take a bit of working out & the only thing I had to change was the gearbox motors to a lower ratio - it was a bit disappointing before I did that -its about optimum in that respect now, without going to bigger motors or posher speed control (like the Sabretooth unit, which is much bigger anyway).I'm glad you noticed the stick direction. Initially it is more intuitive the other way round, but a bit like the elevator on an aircraft I think that you pull back to go up. The RC excavator works this way - as I believe do the real ones (think what you would do inside the cab). I'm sure I could get used to it either way & it is slightly less intuitive like this with the fork lift prongs attached - where the instinct is to go up when you want to raise the load.The self levelling bucket (with a small trim change for fork lift prongs) is really the key to this being so easy to use.I've never been in a real one, one of my pals thinks that I would enjoy Diggerland - just seen this kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aJpgpM6k0czepoU.html Pete 🙂👍

RC Modders I have a little experience running a farm tractor with a loader and it works just the same as you have the remote set up. Pull back towards yourself is up, forward is down, to the left curls the bucket up, and right curls the bucket down. Great work on this unit! Very clean and looks just like the original.

Thanks Ethan & nice to hear from you again. And thank you for clearing this matter up! It is a very satisfying build (in that it works very nicely) and I would recommend it to anyone as a first Bruder conversion - cheap parts, no specialist tools or techniques, cheap model (just buy another one if it goes a bit wrong somewhere). 🙂👍

Great video! I have this Bruder model but it is tracks instead of wheels. How do u think I could make the tracks work?
@RCModders5 жыл бұрын
I think they are quite different model. I haven't done the tracked one yet. Usually people convert two standard RC servos to continuous rotation and use these to drive the tracks. The forum is great place to learn & get tips : facebook.com/groups/313698865844090/?fref=nf. 😀👍

Realy nice and clean build!! How do you use 1 of both ESC as a BEC? And how do you split the signal for controling left/right movement. Thank you!
@RCModders5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! One ESC must have the red wire disconnected (can lift up tab on plug, pull out and cover with head shrink or tape. Be care full that the big servo never stalls (ie tries to move further than lifting arm goes - as it will blow the BEC on the ESC and you will have to use the other ESC or install a UBEC. The speed controllers are connected to the elevator and aileron channels on the receiver. You then mix them plus or minus 100% to each other in both directions. You may have to experiment with the direction of the servos, the polarity of the motors and direction of the mixes until it all works the right way. The bucket servo was attached with epoxy. I’m trying to get round to the detailed build video. Going to use budget rc - but it must have at least 2 free mixes for the steering to work. Hope this helps😀👍

Really nice and clean conversion! I love this skidsteer in action! I have only a question: are the 4 n20 motors stronger than 4 9grams servos converted to 360° rotation?
@RCModders5 жыл бұрын
I have never converted a servo to continuous rotation, so I don't know. I expect that it will depend on the gear ratios etc of each. Using my method, the mounting of the wheels to the motors is very easy and the motors are smaller than servos, although you will need to ESC's, which then need to be housed. The 6v 100rpm N20's seem to give a good balance between torque and speed in my opinion (200 rpm not enough torque or controllability & too fast) .🙂👍

@@RCModders Another question for you. Do you think a pair of 220rpm 150:1 N20 gearmotors are sufficient for a Bruder Delta Cat conversion? I know you have a lot of experience with them so I thought I would ask you.
@RCModders4 жыл бұрын
@@jesscneal Hi, having tried different motors I can say with certainty that 200rpm is too fast and has too little control or torque. 6v 100rpm is probably the fastest I would want in this and is what I used in the end in the skid loader. For the delta I would be tempted to look into servo drive - as I'm not sure that two N20's would be powerful enough. You may be interested to know that I am updating this build with 3D parts - which I will make freely available to download and print. I am planning that the comprehensive video build series on skid loader will follow immediately on from the Jeep wrangler series which I am currently publishing each week. 😀👍
