6:55 that was actually my finisher in 2004. But I also used a rings of Saturn variation where are chicken wings both arms at the same time while maintaining the leg scissors. It was called the Fade to Black

I love how they don't go for rope breaks. They reverse every hold. It feels so much more real. You can't see through this work. This can totally be retaught.

Show this film to anyone who argues that the athletes of today are superior. These two are among the most impressive athletes, and workers, that I have ever seen. Speed, power, stamina... unreal. And it doesn't look fake/choreographed. Interesting fact: Don Leo Jonathan converted to Judaism.

No disrespect to Thesz, but Ed "Strangler" Lewis was the best grappler of the Pioneer Era and certainly among the greatest of all time. Thesz was also among the greatest but he got his training largely from his mentor and friend, Strangler Lewis. "Strangler" Lewis was invincible during the Roaring 20's. Nobody could beat him in a legitimate contest. His patented side headlock was feared by many. Once he clamps that hold onto your head like a vise grip, you'll certainly lose the match. Granted, there are several ways to get Lewis to release his side headlock, like giving him an Irish Whip, punching him hard on the gut, lifting him up and delivering a back body drop, or what have you, but those moves were either unknown or illegal during Lewis' wrestling heyday. It could result in automatic disqualification.

+shikat2371 I'd say the best pure grappler of the pioneers was John Pesek. And then probably Joe Stecher. Ed Lewis was more of a defensive wrestler. He had tremendous balance and it was hard to knock him off his vertical base. Not many could. All 3 of those men could kick Lou Thesz's ass.
@wrestlingconnoisseur
@wrestlingconnoisseur 6 жыл бұрын
According to Thesz, Pesek was extremely apprehensive about risking his reputation in a shoot. His reputation was built largely around impromptu shoots in which the opponent had not prepared for a legitimate contest. Whether Pesek, Lewis and Stecher could have "kicked Thesz's ass" in a legitimate affair is debatable, given the fact the aforementioned three enjoyed their best years during the teens and the twenties and Thesz did not break out professionally until 1934.
