It's called sabotage. They've sabotaged their products to make more money off of you when they break. That also incentivizes them to make products that break easily, because those make more money. No, the purpose of a fuse is to prevent a fire in the case of too much current draw. Some fuses are also there to prevent damage to other equipment in the circuit. Many of these are user-replaceable like blade fuses and bus fuses. The fuse in question is a teeny, tiny fuse soldered onto the board. It is obviously only there to prevent fire and not designed to be replaced. That being said, we SHOULD be allowed to replace (at our own risk) them if we have the skill/balls to do so.
