Күн бұрынHow many slaps does it take to cook a chicken? I built a chicken slapper robot to find out. Man has pondered this question for ages, or at least for the past couple years. Ever since someone asked this question on reddit, numerous youtube channels have sought the answer, including the likes of Unus Annus, MrBro, and the OG chicken slapper Jake Sing. After two years without a satisfying answer, I decided to finish this thing once and for all. Enjoy.

i think it makes sense that the spinning slapper wheel failed because you also basically made a fan to push cool air from the environment into the chicken so whatever small increase you can manage is battling the cool air. this might work better under a vacuum with less air to cool the chicken

Just because it’s pushing air doesn’t mean it’s cold air. If you put an ice cube in front of a fan it’ll melt faster than an ice cube in the same room without a fan blowing on it

Hmm. I have never tried cooking in a vacuum, so I don't know if things like the maillard reaction even work. But if everything works, then it'd be even easier since you wouldn't be losing temperature to ambient air.

It also might be removing a bit of water and meat with each slap as it drags the rubber off the chicken. I think that since that top layer is what gets the heat energy initially, it may be removing it before it has a chance to disperse throughout the chicken. I think both issues might be able to be fixed by putting a rubber sheet on top of the chicken which the force of the slap is transferred through, giving a bit of protection to the chicken.

What if the chicken was suspended with multiple slappers on all sides? I don’t think it’s only the room temp, but also the temp of the rest of the chicken that is cooling down the part being slapped. Having the chicken slapped all over would not only solve this, but would help prevent the chicken from becoming destroyed due to prolonged stress on one area

I was thinking the same but actually it look like the slappers itself cool down the chicken by moving air (like a fan) so multiple ones would raise the temperature of the chckn faster but also cooldown the air much faster , im not even sure 🤔

The last rig used slapping + sliding, which goes against the original hypothesis. After your rubber material hits the chimken, the wheel's rotation makes it slide off, which adds to the heat (imagine rubbing your hands quickly in the winter) without it being a slap. The other iterations of your rig were ok though, they only used slaps.

Have you ever thrown a chicken in the oven without putting it in a pan first? Just using an oven alone does not work. They needed to do the same thing with the slapper. Put the chicken in a pot and then slap the pot.

In a world where we never discovered fire, the only material he used that would be on hand is wood. No metals. No plastics. Not even electricity for a motor, and definitely not a 2 stroke internal combustion engine. You'd probably have to do it like the ancient grain pounding machine from China. Your 3rd iteration the “hot summer day simulator” was the best design and you were well on your way to a cooked chicken you should have replaced the brackets and kept going. The poultry punisher was much less efficient at transferring energy into the chicken and your addition of the vegetable oil brought it to probly near zero by removing the friction factor. I think what you want the most is not only frequency of slaps but maximum energy transfer by either hitting it harder or with something heavier. But i think the wood plank was a good choice because it wasnt totally destroying it. But regardless of my speculation that is a daunting task and i applaud your efforts
