There is no need to hit the lock button on the key to remote start, all that’s is needed to do is hit the remote start button twice it will automatically lock then start and run for 15 minutes once you have done this. This is the case on all FCA vehicles with keyless access and remote start as long as it is OEM Installed.

Oh, I'd use it for trailering, too. Pull a big camper out somewhere, then go offroading nearby for amusement, and return to the camper to relax until the next offroad run!

I agree. Most of us enthusiasts are likely towing our side-by-sides/4-wheelers over a large travel trailer, but it can tow a decent sized one.

I have a 2018 power wagon. Installed some Firestone ride rite airbags. I tow a 36 ft 14000 pound fifth wheel RV. Also my truck has ram boxes.tows good.

Yeah the 3500 is for towing, Chevy is using turbo chargers on their truck's=break and wearing like never before seen at those Chevy max towing numbers you'll be at side of the road while 6.4 Hemi passes you buy safely. Auto mechanic's 101 tells you turbo anything requires constant maintenance even if the manufacturer lies! Who here, design, would buy a truck based on people who didn't ever drive a truck( GMC voted community baseboard party) Then allow them to change the engine, frame, and replace reliability gone to wind for towing numbers. That RAM 2500 Power Wagon will tow 30k no problem. What idiot would trust GMC slapping that label on a machine we all know pull's 8k safely. Every truck hell even 4 door Honda can tow 30k No brainer. How long can it tow it, is the key question. I give it 140 miles before it blows the header gasket or piston rod. Same goes for any 2019 Chevy product! Built by people who never drive a truck! Good luck GMC with that strike! Getting that 2019 piston rod for Sierra pickup may take 5 years or less they say! Turbo that!

I have a 2017 Power Wagon and have towed 10,000 lbs. to 15,000 lbs. regularly with a 12' dump trailer. The 6.4 liter with the 6 speed trans. and the 4.10 gear ratio is a beast. I have 70,000 miles on mine.

Purchased a 2020 Power Wagon this past week.. BIG step UP from my 2007 Ram 4x4 5.7L, 3.92 gears. 260K miles on it. It has Been a Great truck. I do not care too much about gas milage. My 2007 Ram gets 14 5 mpg and my 2011 Jeep 4 door also get 14.5 mpg.

EXCELLENT review of your driving experience with the power wagon! Totally agree with your comments, especially on the following: 1- Tire size 2-Better traction extension on side steps 3-Sliding side mirors 4-Ram box - Extra storage. Frees up cab space! Most likely bigger tires & sliding mirors will come soon. Np surprise on gas mileage! It's too be expected with the 6.4 hemi engine. The power wagon was always my DREAM TRUCK! Ordering a 2020 power wagon as soon as it becomes available in CANADA. Will most likely be my last truck purchase!

The reason the tow and cargo is low and everyone knows why is because the off road suspension. This truck was designed for major off road not towing. If you want the towing and payload then get the 2500 Laramie

Since the truck still has the same engine, transmission and axles as any other 3/4 ton gasoline powered Ram, the payload limiting factors are the tires and springs. Add airbags in the rear with pivoting lower mount and you can have the best of both worlds.

Thuren suspension makes alot of suspension upgrades for these trucks. I'd just add air bags, new coils, rear track bar and the pay load will go up. There's alot of threads about this on the PW forums. Sure it sacrifices some of the off road capabilities. But a small price to pay for a truck with lockers and a winch from the factory.

Love my power wagon. I have a 2018 installed some Firestone ride rite air bags with Daystar cradles. I tow a 36 ft RV 14000 pounds. Tows good just need to get an auxiliary tank for longer range.

Lots of people complain about it's payload and towing when its clearly stated it's an off-roader built from the factory just like the Raptor and ZR1/ Bison which all have reduced payload and towing capacities not like their lesser more normal counterparts. So here's the thing, get a Power Wagon and put airbags ok it if you tow or why not be more civilized and actually invest the money instead on a properly equipped 2500 non PW RAM pickup.

I have almost the same truck minus the ram box and the step. I put 37 ‘s on it and am getting 13 to 15 mpg after the tune. It is not my daily driver but I love my Ram power wagon very capable off road. Can’t wait until they make aftermarket parts for the 2019 power wagon.

Frog Dog The truck locks automatically when using the remote starter. At least that’s how it is on my ‘15 Ram Rebel.

-You dont have to hit the lock button to remote start -Saying this should tow more than 10k pounds is also saying why the Raptor only tows 7000 when the F150 next to it can tow 12750. -11.5 MPG city is very comparable to most 2500 gassers. -I agree on the mirrors and have done so for a decade. It's time for power telescopic mirrors. Pretty spot on elsewhere!

Spot on great overall perspective and review. I’m not trying to pick on the truck, as it’s absolutely gorgeous... but as you pointed out, unfortunately, like most truck buyers, its measly 1126 lb payload capacity makes it mostly useless for my needs. But there’s a small percentage of buyers that don’t care about that at all. Anyway, great video, thanks!

If You’re not Overlanding than why are U looking at this truck? This a 4X4 off road Truck… If U want a tower or a Hauler U buy a 2500 Laramie with a 6.7L Cummins Diesel, This Truck has a awesome suspension set up that is great for overland use and trails… It’s like trying to use a screwdriver as a wrench…JS🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

What a beast! I considered getting a PW, but I needed more payload. So, I got a 4x4 2500 Bighorn that has almost everything the PW has for moderate off roading. Yeah, the gas mileage sucks, but it tows like a champ! The 8 speed transmission is outstanding! Take one for a test drive.

I have found with my 2018 2500 ram for the auto start, just press the the start button twice and it will start the truck. You don't have to press lock then start button

I love my 2015 AEV Prospector Power Wagon with 37's. I tow my 25" 7,400 dry 2006 Vortex toy hauler off road in soft beach and dune sand to ride quads in the dunes. It tows very well in low traction surfaces with lockers front and rear. Tires, Tires,Tires! are very important for tow ratings. Off road tires are made soft for dirt etc... 3 wall vs 10 ply I have watched two people towing 5th wheels with air bags in a power wagon. Torque is multiplied by gears. 4:10 is a lower ratio than many Diesel trucks.

I bought one. I love it. At first the shifting was a bit weird on hard acceleration but better now. Average 10 around town and 14 on freeway with a lumber rack on it. Comfortable seat and i love the lower GVWR. it makes the truck ride so much better. I run it empty most of the time and everything I have wanted to haul it has handled it great. Pulls my work trailer awesome. I may never go back to a diesel.

FINALLY! A real world review and great explanation of the lower capacities. The softer suspension has it's perks. It rides so well, yet will beat up almost any trail!

Just a point to note: I agree, wish it had a greater payload. But 1500 lbs **is** 3/4 ton. 2500 is 1 1/4 tons. It's the only reason I didn't get a Power Wagon, I wanted greater capacity. But a 2500 Laramie with Hemi has around 3,000 lb capacity, which makes it 1 1/2 tons. :)

I'd rather have the additional payload and I do with my f250. Mine has the 10,000lb GVWR rating. So my payload on my truck is 3,379lbs.

@@okigojuryu Absolutely...People don't get it, it is an OFF ROAD biased truck, and most of us don't need to haul 1200+ pounds everywhere we go. If you have need of a pickup for "work" duty, not hauling or towing large amounts, this truck will take care of all your needs on road and then SHINE off road.

Great comments JD. I agree, this truck is made for the guy towing a toy hauler into the back country but the payload and tow ratings don't support that type of use! As you said, Give it 2700lb payload and 12,000+ tow rating and it becomes a great option for the outdoors person. Great looking truck!

I like mine, but I think the Ford design is better. I don't find as much difficulty using them down as some seem to, but it is strange with mirrors down.

Jeffrey Conforti NOPE! Power Wagon needs a big V8 gasser. The 3.0 Ecodiesel would not be a wise choice of engine for a Power Wagon.

Richard Constantino : I think that the 3.0 liter Diesel would be perfect for the PW. More torque than the 6.2 gas motor and better mileage.

Jeffrey Conforti the truck is just to big for the little engine but I know torque numbers are higher. But for a truck like that and what it’s meant for the 6.4 Hemi is a great engine even if your daily driving it. Off roading with how the eco diesel is you will spin and stuff just how throttle is. The little eco diesel is a great engine for a half ton or like the Jeep Cherokee. I have an 18 ram 1500 eco diesel just from my experience I would say no to eco diesel in the power wagon.

I have always loved the PW. My best friend has one and he put 37's on it. Fuel economy is crap big time. He makes bank so he doesn't care, he just loves that HEMI lol. I could not afford this truck. It is a specific type of truck no doubt, totally made for off-road more than towing or payload. The engine and driveline could def handle more payload and towing but its the suspension is what handicaps the payload and towing numbers. Those who get this truck usually don't care too much about payload and towing numbers though so there is that. Know your product before you go shop it and you won't be crying and complaining on SM about said product, you'll just love it cause you did your homework first. It is a beast and there is a huge loyal following that makes it almost Jeepesque in terms of social belonging. Maybe I will buy a used one, one day and enjoy one of those HEMI's too cause they are a badass engine but for now, I will just have to settle for riding shotgun.

Ide rather have the same truck but without the power wagon package. 3k+ payload and 16,900 ibs towing. And still beastly. But I tow all the time so I need it

Hey JD, Here's the thing about the Power Wagon. This truck is made for off-road applications, not towing. If towing or payload is a concern, then the buyer should go with a standard model. This truck has softer springs which is why it has lower payload and towing specs. I own a 17' and take it off road all the time, in fact I know a lot of other PW owners that also take them off road all the time. Overall, it takes a certain kind of person to buy this truck... Your numbers on mileage are on par with mine as well. I hit about 13.5 with mixed highway miles. Good review, beautiful truck!

I repeat this truck was NOT made for towing. It was made for 4×4 offroading. Rebel,power wagon are 4×4's 1st towing 2nd! You buy a 2wd for towing.

Spot-on on the rear seat leg room. Also, the biggest deal breaker for me is the footwell bulge on the front passenger side. This means my wife can't put her feet flat down as she can in a Ford and has to sit at a slight angle which is not fun on longer trips. Any comments on this?

Just got a 2020 Power Wagon. And it still gets 11.5-13.5 mpg in country or city Horrible in town crappy. Mpg rural but about the best driving and handing Kinda like driving a 8,250 lbs tugboat on the my way. Shure footed and very comfortable to drive or cruze

Beautiful truck, and I am all in. Problem is I also want to tow my 30 foot bumper pull trailer that is 6500 lbs dry. The distribution from the trailer reduces the payload so much there is just enough left for the family and the bikes. After that we are maxed out. I’m waiting for the 2020 power wagon. I hope they increase the payload and tow capacity. Great vid as as always.

You dont have to push the lock button on remote start if already locked. Also if out of range push remote start twice (4 times) and it will increase range and most likely start.

That's the same as a toyota tacoma 6spd manual and it weights about 3000 pounds lighter then a power wagon

I just got a tradesman with power wagon option. While it's missing ssd ome features of the pure power wagon it's got all the main ones. I personally think it looks even better than than the pw with all that writing on the sides and a ram emblem on the back instead. Just a beast of a truck. My main complaint thus far is gas mpg. I tow around 8500 max so this will do ev er rything I need and I'll n ed ver go over the 1500 payload max my specs say I get. Just a beautiful truck. When you buy it like I did you can pick one up new between 50 and 55k instead of the 70 grand range the decked out pw cost. I refuse to spend that on a truck.

Awesome video as usual. In 2015 when I was getting ready to order a truck I thought about a Power Wagon for about 30 seconds and decided that I would never use it for what it's built for so I ordered a 2015 RAM 2500 Mega Cab Limited spec'd as follows: 6.4 HEMI, 4.10 rear differential, 4x4. My towing capacity is 15,960 lbs. and hauling is 2,900 lbs. As of this morning my combined fuel economy is 15.3 mpg. which is a combination of interstate (70 mph) and county highway (55 mph) driving and I just turned 132,000 miles on the odometer. I think I made the right choice in ordering this truck rather than the PW. I go off road a bit but really I need the 4x4 for all the snow, ice and mud here in Northwestern Illinois where I live.

Air Bags! They used all the same components in the PW as they did in a regular 3/4 ton. If the only reason why payload is so low is because of the suspension, wouldn't airbags completely solve this issue?? Then deflating for regular driving without a load? Can someone with knowledge chime in? I'm not worried about towing as much but if I'm hauling stone. Wouldn't airbags work the same if not better than a regular 2500 with stock suspension since you can adjust the psi? Also, with regards to mpg, the new 8 speed is getting 15 combined. (according to the forums) . A 1500 with e-torque is getting 19. At 12,000 miles per year, fuel at $2.50 per gallon, that is a $420 difference per year or $35 per month in increased fuel costs. Totally worth it for the 6.4L!

Very nice truck. I would definitely agree the payload and towing should be better especially now with Ford unveiling their off road Tremor package and still having a respectable payload and towing numbers.

I wanted to get this truck but was disappointed that they kept the same cab as last generation so I ended up getting a 19 Ram 1500. I'd say your mpgs are pretty impressive. My 19 Ram averages 11/12 city 16/17 hwy no etorque, 3.92 gear, street tires. Maybe once they release the power wagon with the new cab I will trade mine in since price wasnt much of a difference.

Bought identical truck two months ago without the ram boxes. Just waiting for BDS to make a 4 inch lift then I’m throwing 36’s on. I love this truck, but I’m a wagon fan. This is my second, it is definitely a love hate relationship you have to take the good with the bad.

Why wait for BDS to fit 36s when you can fit 37s on it stock. If you still got to have lift get an AEV kit and fit 40s

Agree about needing 35's for looks. And that is what this truck is all about, looks. Ram boxes I guess are OK if you never plan to have a rack on the truck.

FYI - don’t need to hit lock and then auto start button twice to start truck. Go right to auto start button and press twice. It will auto lock the doors for you.

i liked your video, but my only critique is what you were saying about its hauling/towing capability. Ram (like Ford Raptor) gave this rig a suspension that can flex and articulate to allow it to absorb bumps, washboard gentle landings, and climb rocks. if you gave this truck a suspension typical of a 2500 truck, that off-road capability would be significantly reduced. the customers buying this truck should recognize this before hand, you can get an off-road beast or a tuck that can haul/tow significant numbers. Not both. One more thing, the Cummins option weighs nearly twice as much as the 6.4 Hemi, thats part of the reason why it' not an option.

Needs more payload and 4 more inches of rear leg room like the 1500’s cab, but otherwise great truck. Although the 6.4 could differentiate itself from the 5.7 a little more. Say 450 hp and 475 lb ft.

I’d like to comment on the rear legroom comment. GM and Ford put limiters on the front seat tracks so less legroom in front to give more in back. I prefer driver’s comfort over passenger comfort. Just my two cents on that.

I think it’s unfair to pick the payload and towing when it’s designed first and foremost as an off-road vehicle. You can’t really have both. If you want the capacity, get the regular truck with 4x4. I agree with the mirrors though.. it’s time for ram to update that.

I would love to see a diesel Power Wagon with better payload and towing capacity. Some of the off road capability might be compromised by beefing up the suspension, but a truck that can pull a toy hauler up into the Rockies AND handle the trails is exactly what I'm currently looking for.

Agreed. But the practical answer is that you can increase payload by changing the suspension, and then you'd lose some of that payload by swapping the diesel into it. It's a balancing game. That's why it makes sense to get a Laramie if you want most of the features and more payload. The other option is to go where the original Power Wagon was: a one-ton class (3500) truck. If only Ram offered all the same offroad capabilities in the 3500...

Nice review. I feel like with how small the world is these days and with information so readily available people should know what this truck is about. Yet, so many complaints about how it doesn’t do what they think it should do as opposed to what it was designed to do. I have only ever met two people who have bought a power wagon and they absolutely love them.

I think the people in comments need to understand that with the amount of fitted OEM off road equipment. This is a 3/4 ton model that compromises lie in it being off road bias. It's simply proof that you can not have your cake and eat it too when it comes to off road and max tow packages.

Love this truck, I don't consider this a 3/4 ton though. The low payload capacity means softer coil springs for better off road capabilities.

The 3/4 ton has more to do with the chassis ridgety than anything, my H3T for example is also a 3/4 ton, but it's the size of a midsize, and only has a 1000 ib payload capacity, the frame can take a hell of a beating however.

I really want this to be my next truck. Considering the size 11-12mpg isn't so bad. My old '13 Tundra Rock Warrior got around 11-13mpg in the city and 16.5mpg hwy.

I would gladly give up my Laramie Longhorns towing capacity for the disconnecting sway bar. I have a 32’ travel trailer and it only weights 7500lbs. If you want a tow rig, buy a diesel. A stiff suspension or air shocks don’t belong on this truck, not to mention the bad weight distribution. I also think the cab is plenty big. We just took a 4K mile trip with one 5’ tall and two 6’ tall teens along with our dog in the back and they were all comfortable without complaint. My biggest personal complaint would be that floor shifter. Why? I loose my console for a shifter that I have a button for in my truck. The Larime and rebel console and bucket seats are excellent for trips and how many people run three up in the front? I can’t remember the last time I’ve see it. I do agree about the side steps. I would like to see something more like wide rock rails. I’ve hung up on mine when cantered on break over. I love the truck, but the ergonomics for long trips on this model might land me in a Larime or even a Rebel when I hit 200k.

The two main areas I wish Ram would totally address are first the mirrors, making them more like Ford and GM, and then carrying over the cab from the 1500 like Ford does with it's F150 and SD trucks.

not sure if that 11mpg is exclusive to the power wagon. But I have the same truck in a bighorn with the 4.10 and I get 16-17mpg average. But it really comes down to how you drive. If your getting 11mpg ide say you have a BAD case of led foot. Because I'm not exactly a slow driver

With my current travel trailer right at 7,700 lbs, 33’ Cherokee 274wk if my 2018 Cummins gives me lots of trouble with the stupid diesel emissions crap you can bet your &@$ I’m getting a Power Wagon. Air bag the rear suspension toss on some E or F load tires and get it! With the standard 4:10 gears it won’t have any trouble towing.

I dont see the purpose of this being a 3 quarter ton. Personally with those numbers I'd rather just have a half ton, and be happier knowing I'm a bit lighter in the snow.

The 3/4 ton designation generally means more robust frame/suspension components which means it will likely hold up better under abuse, even though payload and towing numbers might not be any higher than a similarly equipped 1/2 ton or midsize.

The 2019 HD line only refreshed from the dash to front of the truck, the cab should be updated with the official redesign in 2020/2021.

Super cool truck. I would have to opt for a full center console, not the flip up. Also i would get rid of the power wagon decal down the side, the logo on the tailgate is enough. Awesome review btbrv. But....i would stay with my powerstroke. Cant wait for you to get ahold of the 2020 superduty / tremor!

All LED lighting is nice except when it burns out and you have to replace the whole assembly. I've had a swing down rear step from AMP on my last 3 F150's it is so much better than the GM bumper step that only NBA stars can reach. The 2 1/2 inch receiver is like making your new GF think you wear size 15 shoes! (Can't say what I was thinking) Just my opinion. LOL

The 6.4 Hemi is great for the off road power in this truck If you're not towing regularly, however, If this did have a diesel engine, it would definitely solve the 11 MPG problem.

it would solve the 11mpg problem and then make the truck much less capable off-road (suspension would have to be stiffer to handle that extra weight)... then suddenly you don't have a PW anymore.. completely defeats the purpose of getting the PW trim 🤔 people who understand what a PW is designed for realize a diesel is counterproductive.. those people also realize literally any other 2500 trim comes with the diesel (because they're designed for hauling/payload/work)

The spring rate is much, much softer then a standard 3/4 for the ability to articulate for what the truck is designed for and that is rock crawling/off roading. This is nothing new, it's been like this since this version of the PW came out in 05. It even says in the manual that you can not attach a snowplow to it, so that tells you a lot there.

Those sidesteps are most likely a dealer add on. Unless RAM made changes, those are not included with the Power Wagon.

I came from a 2019 ford ecoboost f150 into a 2020 power wagon. Ford has a better back seat with flat floor, better fuel economy and the steering wheel is far more adjustable. Other than that the power wagon would literally rip it in half. Remarkable truck.

I really feel that they should have made diesel engine an option, one it will give you a better fuel economy, better a payload, better towing capacity, Petaluma and talk for those that do take it off road. And being as ford has an F250 trimmer with a Diesel engine I believe the trim package is tremor, please do a review on that truck that’s the Going to be the closest competitor.

first of all the Tremor will be about $13k more than this truck.. the Tremor will have adequate ability off road (mostly due to its lift and larger tires), but will not compare to the type of articulation possible with the PW.. the reason why it can't compare with the PW off road is because the Tremors suspension is not tuned for absorbing off road activity.. Tremor suspension is way STIFFER (necessary for towing and payload) so it's going to be a VERY uncomfortable ride off-road that you'll be getting with that $80k.. and it still won't have a winch to get itself out of trouble when it can't articulate well enough over rough terrain Ram could easily scrap the beautiful PW suspension, make their 2500 Laramie (which has diesel option) come with bigger wheels and factory lift and BOOM.. it's the same as a Tremor simply put, if what you're looking for is a cool looking big truck that's not really meant for off-roading.. please get the tremor.. if you want a truck this size that specializes in off-road activities.. then the PW is the only choice

Sorry but I Love the Power Wagon and what it is and stands for. With that said unfortunately you are correct, most people that buy this type of truck dont use it for what its built for. Towing, not so much. Payload, not so much. You want a full size offroad truck like a jeep Rubicon? Then you got it here. People need to do some research and know what they're buying before complaining about it.

I hate led headlights at night. If your behind me at night, and my truck is a shadow, and my headlights aren’t lighting anything up in front of me, it’s a safety issue. I can’t see in front of me or behind me. I hate led headlights

He's in a city in mid-summer heat....That PW with the new 8speed tranny has shown on highway and regular non-city driving to have 25% better mileage than the old transmission.
