Total Sacrifice? Yes, God is first. Does He expect your total sacrifice of your wife, children, family? No. Does God expect your time or money for Him. To a certain degree, yes. A balance of God and spouse is what expected. Yes, God is first, but your marriage is important too.

But you can’t use this example if you’re already married (like he was) and/or are burning with passion (like he clearly is based on his remarriage).

1 Cor 7:10-11 says to remain single or get back with your spouse. Mark 10:10-11 say if you divorce and remarry your in adultery. Luke 16:18 says the same thing, if you divorce and remarry its adultery. Matt 5:32 and 19:9 say your committing adultery if you divorce and remarry while your spouse lives. Romans 7:2-3 says only death breaks the marriage covenant. Mark 10:9 Jesus says what God has joined together let no man separate. If you leave your spouse stay single.

I have always heard some pastors say that Ministry comes before their Marriage. This was somewhat puzzling because i believed that Ministry INCLUDED one's Marriage. In fact it is a part of any relationships we have as born again Believers.
