@@xxzenonionnex7658 it would not beat the bugatti for this simply fact. The brutus's engine produces less energy output that the w16 in the bugatti. Pushing air, moving gears etc require energy to do so. This seemingly common sense idea, seems to escape people constantly. to pull weight faster, to accelerate faster all requires more energy than what you had before to "be faster, move more" etc. gearing is a major part, but without energy to use, gearing is unimportant. and hp always wins. only time hp may not look like it won, is when you are in a race where hp out on average is what determines the winner. like a circuit race etc. but in a drag race where you are on the accelerator the whole time. it would be impossible for a car whose output was 1000hp the whole time, to loose to the same car whose output was less than 1000hp. if 1000hp was not as quick as another 1000hp simply because of tq output or gearing then 1. you could win a nobel peace prize and turn physics on its head, or 2. you simply dont understand the whole concept of what hp actually means and how its used

My brother and I traded a Chevy Suburban with a blown transfer case and a bazillion miles that we had gotten for 500 bucks for a 96 Econoline van with a 300 straight six and a 3 speed C6 transmission. The guys we traded with knew what they were getting, and I'm not sure why they wanted to do it, because we've been using it as a work van for years after building out the back with shelves for our tools, and a bulkhead to keep everything in place. Was just at my parents house building a fence yesterday, and their neighbor has a Chevy truck with the Vortec 8100. 2 of the engines on this list right next to each other and I didn't even appreciate it!

I remember driving the family RV (1997 Ford v10 ) to our county fair and it blew a plug. The best part was I was towed there by a towing company that was in said fair and I had the dumbest smile ever as I rolled in and we had a mechanic fix it right there the same day. Somehow I’ll never forget it

Good video, nice sound on all the clips! Another engine you could add to the list: the AMC straight-6, a fantastic torquey little motor, known most commonly in its 4.0L Jeep form. It has a 4500 rpm redline, and makes most of its power from 3-4k

Mark Walker, who built the Darracq has put together or restored a number of very low revving cars over the last 30 years. My favourite is the GN Thunderbug with a 5.2 litre Vee twin built on a very early Riley crankcase. For the Brits Mark is one of the family that founded Walkers Crisps in Leicester.

the rev limiter on my 89 mustang is somewhere around 6200 rpm which is also where i get valve float (non interference engine so this is fine) i did get the revs to around 8000 once when i was still learning the car and went for 3rd and got 1st. it backfired and blew the intake hose off the throttle body, car still ran like a champ though once i reconnected everything

Here’s one you missed: The Mack 707, 707 cubic inches of inline 6 that idles at 350 RPM and redlines at either 2500 or 2600 RPM. It’s got dual distributors, dual sets of ignition coils, all combined to make 250 BHP and an immense amount of torque. They were put in Mack firetrucks from the 40s to the 70s and Mack semi trucks in the 50s.

Lowest revving car I ever had was the vw type 3, with red line around 4600 or so, it was also the slowest car I ever had. Also the BMW v12 is the same solution a guy I know came up with for engines over 8 cylinder for delco 808 ECU conversions. Real time tuning of dual ECUs via the same PC/laptop is pretty neat, they are seen as one unit by the software.

The Rolls Royce L-series (6 1/4 litre and 6 3/4 litre V8s... although many call them the 6.25 and 6.75 litre :-) ) revved to around 4,200 rpm. At the other end of the spectrum, the original 1948 Citroen 2CV revved to about 4,000 rpm, with peak power of 9 (NINE!) horsepower at 3,800rpm.

Another significant limit on the rev limit on engines is the speed the piston is moving at inside the cylinders, very few engines are able to get past the 25 meters/s 'barrier'
