You could go either way there. They are very similar units other than the Ethernet. I would go with the 9Ti at the back because of the bigger screen for side imaging. Glad the videos have helped you out!

I don't have any videos on that. Routes are waypoints you've saved that you string together to get somewhere. Trails are where you have already been. Very few fishermen are going to use routes so I haven't really focused on it. Saving to the SD card is just like you would save waypoints.

Yes the default maps will have contours for most lakes in the US. You can log sonar then upload it to Lowrance's Genesis program to create your own maps

You are best to use a separate card. Any MicroSD will work up to 32GB I believe. All you need is 2GB usually. I personally have a 16GB and it works great. You can use this card for waypoint and settings backup as well. Some software versions let you use the Navionics card, but if you aren't good with computers you run the risk of accidentally deleting the Navionics files and then you're buying a new card.

Take the map card out and see if it freezes. I've seen the cards lock up the units many times. If that isn't it check you have at least 11.5 volts going to it. Finally the touch screen will not work well out of water unless you touch the ground lead. Often people confuse this with freezing. You shouldn't run the transducer for long periods of time out of water. Use the Stop Chart feature on the sonar to disable the transducer from transmitting when on land

If you saved your settings to the MSD card first then you can reload them, if not you'll just have to make them again.

Make sure your transducer is plugged in and as a depth lock on bottom as that may be why you cant get the Structure screen. Or you can go to System, Advanced, Features, and then turn StructureScan back on

Yes you can use the Xi3 as well as long as it is GPS Pinpoint equipped

You just won't have side scan. You can always add it though with a TotalScan transducer

You can set a GPS offset, but be sure you are talking about the GPS position (lat/long) and not the map inaccuracy. Those are two different things.

System menu, then advanced, then features (might be called something else but it's in advanced for sure), then just turn on or off the options you have in there.

Unless the touch lock is turned on which is accessed through a quick press of the power button it sounds like a defective unit

Do the hard reset. It's in my elite Ti playlist. It will delete all waypoints, but if your unit won't turn on they are lost already

You can't change the color of the position arrow The contour lines shouldn't be so thick that you can't see the boat icon. Maybe you have Easy View on. Try turning that off to see if there is a difference. I think you can turn the contours off, but I've never needed to so I am not sure where you'd go. Maybe in the Chart Options menu or Navionics menu You can try on Look Ahead to put the arrow at the bottom third of the screen to see more ahead of you.

@@InDepthSonar I think look ahead will be a big help. I was traveling on a large lake with lots of islands to navigate. Many with dead ends. When zooming way out and going thru a narrow deep channel. Plus one foot contour lines

If you have done the hard reset and screen calibration and the unit is grounded by the transducer while in the water then I would say you have a defective unit. Call Lowrance and find out about your replacement options.

Just get a second power cable PC-30 and a 12 volt battery and you're all set. Keep in mind the Elite Ti units are prone to the screen not working when there is no transducer connected and grounded (in water). So if your touch screen doesn't respond, touch the negative terminal on the battery. You can also get another length of wire and run it from the negative terminal of the battery and then hold the other end of it. That will ground it and allow the unit you to use the touch screen out of water. Check out my video "Light weight battery for ice fishing". That will give you the best way to power a unit out of water

Thanks Lawren. I bought Items CA-8 and AC-CAF. Hopefully that will do the trick also, but not sure how to hold the negative terminal this way.

That will work just fine. If the touch screen so that respond, you can probably just hold the power cable and that should ground it. I haven't tried it plugged into 110v so you might be fine.

Hard to say...but if you aren't getting anything my guess is a simulator file isn't selected. You can check this buy hitting PAGES, then Settings, then Simulator, then Files, then Sonar, then if it says NONE tap that and select one of the files. Hit Save and go try again. That should do it.

I figured that's what it was :) Play around with the different files that are loaded if there is more than 1. They will usually give you at least 2 in a unit and they are different

Elite TI's cannot share sonar so you would need the TI 2s in order to do that

@@InDepthSonar one more question; do you know if I purchase one Ti2 and attach it to the network if that new unit will share info with the original Ti unit, or will both units have to be Ti2 units. Thanks again for your input.

They would both share the information that they're capable of sharing through the nmea 2000 network to each other

You wouldn't need this update as the Elite Ti units can use Side Scan with the Totalscan transducer. You just have the buy a compatible SideScan transducer for it to work

And the total scan is $300 can I just buy one and use that one transducer for both units ? Thank you sorry still learning this thinking about getting the hook 2 7x tripleshot since its 300 and get that all except for the maps but buddy will sell me these ti's for 600 for both but old transducers. No idea. They are either being deleted, its a software glitch, or your maximum amount of trail points is set too low

The SmartSteer only works with MotorGuide Xi5 and Xi3 models that have GPS.

Steve Vue Minn Kota will interface with Hummingbird and Lowrance interface with Lowrance.

The new ones are all plastic. You can still order the metal ones I believe for about $50. If you do make sure it has the metal curled up where the bolts go through. The original metal one didn't and it throws a huge rooster tail
