One thing people often get wrong in such scenarios is that they think junglers should be able to "read" or "predict" these sort of plays and proactively cover for the possebility of them happening. Sometimes this is actually true however more often than not junglers simply cannot do that because defending against possible threats instead of just the actual ones wastes so much time and resources that you basically just bleed out without the opponents having to do anything.

LS I just wanna say that these deep dives remind me of an NFL youtuber/analyst that I watch, Brett Kollmann. A lot of his content is predicated on you watching other parts of his content to understand the technical nuances of what he's describing but his breakdowns on different plays are very precise and he does a fair bit of narrative-busting like you do. It is kind of sad because my friend and I were watching this game live and we were discussing why Adam's lane state was seemingly so terrible 3 minutes into the game. League esport fans and pros would rather just meme and spout nonsense than actually think critically and logically about important nuances, though.
@matiasalejandromab
@matiasalejandromab Жыл бұрын
sadly, people don't care about the strategic and technical point of view of league. they would watch an hipercarry adc get a penta in an already won game and call him a god rather than understand why some laners always win with the right strat and the right way of playing the lane.
@Adjacent_2
@Adjacent_2 Жыл бұрын
@@matiasalejandromab I agree, and typically enjoy LS's analysis. I just wish his tone wasn't so personal/depressed. Like if someone builds incorrectly, or messes up their lane etc, LS sounds almost nearly suicidal or furious over the mistake. He's not able to just be an analyst, he takes every mistake way too personally. As if Adam (or any pro) was making these mistakes to *personally* harm LS. That is not a healthy way to live your life, and no talented "traditional" sports analyst views their respective games that way.

@@llodoroo I watched it and I think if simply *seeing* someone make a mistake makes him that furious/depressed etc then he should not be doing this for a career. The difference between LS vs Brett Kollmann and Thinking Basketball is that the others show more games to show a trend rather than a single incident. They also cover it in a more concise manner making it more digestible. I figure with more production value and better pacing this content could be like Melee Moments, one of the best short form analysis Channel I've ever seen. I don't think analytical content has been made entertaining enough in league yet.

I love this video not because I learned anything, the wave manipulation and jungle responses are very standard (which is why this is so bad from Adam). But because it shows exactly why most analysts are hesitant to call Adam a great toplaner despite his performance in the bo1 part of the split. He has always made these sort of mistakes, but usually doesn't get punished because of a couple of specific things. Like his mechanical prowess, champion preference (mostly plays champs that can 1v2) and also taking extra summoners in lane that toplaners usually do (this game Adam didn't go for flash/ghost). Also nice to see Astralis spotting the mistakes in his game and punishing them.
@_papasparta_-txc-4730

He just played with the thought sejuani would play for bot and his jgler would play for top. 113 sacking all of his CS to absolute destroy top was a really good and creative way from him. BDS went for a normal game approach and 113 punished both adam and sheo for it.
@LordKeram
@LordKeram Жыл бұрын
@@_papasparta_-txc-4730 I would say the first death was kinda fine. He didn't really lose much and cost Sejuani a lot of time + Sheo got the kill, but as LS explained the 2nd death was completely nonsensical and a pure int on Adam's part. If he just backs off there and lets the wave push to him the whole game is suddenly in a good spot for BDS.
@kristianvukajlovic6789
@kristianvukajlovic6789 Жыл бұрын
@@LordKeram The first death played out fine, but it wasn't a good decision. If kled takes 1 less turret aa and sejuani tanks it instead, wukong can't kill anyone. And if wukong doesn't get the kill, his wave is just perma fucked. Basically wukong getting the kill just changes him being completely fucked to being in a worse spot, and he buries himself on the next wave anyway.
@LordKeram
@LordKeram Жыл бұрын
@@kristianvukajlovic6789 If Wukong doesn't kill, he can just wait for Olaf to tp back and win the 2v2 anyways. Wukong getting the kill doesn't change anything for Olaf's lane, so no the kill is completely irrelevant other than Wukong getting very slightly ahead. Literally everything up until 4 minutes where Adam by the act of god decides to stay under enemy tower with no flash and no tp is completely fine. Sure Adam's lane is slightly worse than it could have been, but he also wasted so much of Sejuani's time so mid and bot were able to play their winning lanes uninterrupted you could even call it a plus. But him staying just completely breaks toplane open and it's basically ff after that.
@_papasparta_-txc-4730
@_papasparta_-txc-4730 Жыл бұрын
@@LordKeram Im saying he just played based on assumptions, which is risky but its still a teamsport and they failed to track the jgler. If you think it will be your jgler ganking instead of the opponents jgler its not weird to try to get a push in toplane. It just backfired really hard because 113 snuck in a gank before sheo was able to get to his topside because he did have info on where sheo was. Like if he knows sejuani will be ganking him 3 times before hes moving to his botside ofc he'll play it differently. If you have no hard evidence on where the enemy jgler is, you will have to make decisions based on assumptions and thats where you can get punished. Idk if AST defended a deeper ward lvl 1 or if BDS just straight up trolled with getting no info whatsoever, but its really well played from 113.

Does the wave at 5:00 actually crash though? Kled moves up to pull minion agro, thus keeping them out of range of the turret, meaning that Adam either needed to leave those 3 minions and let Kled set up a freeze, or try to push the next wave with Q's in the hopes that it will rebound on the next while poking Kled so that he can't do the same thing again, which is why he was pushed up and gankable in that pocket. I play top a fair amount and I genuinely can't tell because of how close it is. I would say that even if it was going to crash, I wouldn't really blame Adam for that because it's so close and very hard to tell.

First death is acceptable, playing for a slow push and prio is not uncommon in top lane. Current jg makes it hard not to die if the jungler has a hardon for you. The first death doesn't really mean much in the grand scheme of things though, cuz adam gets sheos help to fix the wave and olaf has an alright matchup into the kled. The second death in inexcusable and the third is a consequence of that. When Sheo helped Adam push out the wave, the communication HAD to be to get it under turret, in which they succeeded. But Adam griefed this following wave (and lane position) so hard that it lost them the whole game...

So just imagine all the little things we discover in the next 10 years of LoL.

Yeah I don't see how not hitting anything makes the third death better, you're dead you're dead with no flash after the first two death sequence. Maybe just sack yourself to get the CS if you for sure know the dive is coming.

Adam stealing the paychecks for a third split now, he does the same mistakes and noone notices them so he's just seen as good. Literally the same issues as summer 21' and spring 22' (oh and we have yet to see his champion pool problems again).

You are stupid if you think that, there is a reason why he is in the LEC and you cant judge his split out of 1 game he was very good overall in the split and yeah he fucked up in this game and inted it hopefully the coaching staff will call him out on this game.

I think he Q'ed the sixth wave so he could recall and buy some item and that decision costs him the game. Maybe it's a smart read from 113 or Adam's blunder, either way after he died a second time there's no recovering because obviously he's gonna get dove

minor confusion at 0:45 LS meant wave 4 hits at 301 right? bc funnily enough i did EXACTLY what adam did and going through my own replay in sync with LS's lesson lets me easily j look and see that im p sure he meant wave 3 hit turret at 301 not 401? unless im not getting something (overall this deep dive still makes perfect sense ofcourse)

imagine the toplane's one goal should be to control toplane. junglers's main role would be to look where the other jungler is and if there are other opportunities available in any place of the map.

It's honestly baffling how many Pro's seem to have no clue how minion-wave management works... Maybe it's the thought of "I need to be constantly pushing and applying pressure" or maybe it's just an ego thing but it's incredible how often such a simple and straightforward concept can can be utterly ignored by "top tier" players

I am a low level player so I am not pretending to know all the complexities. I do understand my lane positioning based on where I have vision of the other team. First death he knows their jungler is top and his is bottom so I would play defensively. Second death he achieved escorting the wave to tower and has no wards down so that seems to be what the kids call illegal. He should not be there. Third death just seems like he was on auto pilot. Warding jungle and/or just letting it crash seems to be the best options which is easy to see in hindsight. He might have died to the dive regardless though.

I think getting caught minute 40 alone is worse than bring behind in lane because they made a strategy to counter olaf

This is exactly why I can never take 99% of the comment section on YT (and twitch chat) seriously. It's mostly people parroting "analysts" ideas and forming their own opinions based solely on who they like as a player. Even more so a thing that happens in Korea, based on who is the better player, or which team is better. If X analyst hypes up T1, then "OMG T1 is unstoppable". JFC, use your brains.

shouldnt sejuani not even be there for the second gank since he loses a ton of tempo if olaf doesnt die because his whole top side is dead?

Essentially Adam doesn't do any mistakes that are obvious to a player of diamond or below (some diamonds would probably have this lane management locked down, but not all), as the punishment for such mistakes in solo queue in general, especially low elo, just isn't that big. As a pro on the other hand, such understandings are very much to be expected of course. Sadly the vast majority of league players and viewers are at such a rank where they don't know this, and as such any "mistake" a laner makes that gets punished by a gank is automatically the junglers fault for not counterganking

How can ppl see this basic information and observe how he plays his lane in Isolation and seriously praise him so much, stating he's a top 3 Toplaner atm in LEC. This is so basic stuff, ur average Master MMR toplaner knows how to play that (better). Imagine having French fan base delusionaly praising everything you do, only based on ur nationality.

I hope he will learn from these mistakes. Sometime he has to realize that he can play weak side top and trust his teammates. He doesn’t need to be the carry all the time and that mentality hurts his team so hard.
