Useful vid. Waiting for the Luba to come back into stock in Germany. One question: how about lightning protection? Looks like you have a big sticky up thing on you roof with a wire that goes into one of your rooms upstairs.

I was worried I’d have a hard time getting signal with all the trees… but so far so good! I will update once the trees fill in with leaves. Thanks for watching

Also, does the RTK have some sort of ground connector on the device? I am thinking of hooking it on the chimney.

Can you tell me what the output from the power transformers is? My hope is that I can put this on the outer edge of my lawn and power it off of a large solar and battery directly with 12vdc rather than having to put in an inverter to increase voltage to 120 and then bring the voltage back.

Great video. Thanks. The best place to mount my RTK is near a metal roof on the home. It would not be touching the roof but a couple feet away. Will the metal roof interfere with the satellite signal to the RTK?

good question I believe as long as the RTK has a clear view of the sky it should be adequate however their original manual suggests a distance of 5m away from large metal objects

Customers that are easiest acquire are current customers of husqvarna and Landroid. I have a automower and sick of broken wires and it’s inefficient random path. But it’s a known devil for me. If you can make a comprehensive comparison video, it will help me switch.

thanks for watching... I've no dog in this fight so I'm approaching this un-biased. I have a Husqvarna 315 at one of our properties for the past 3 years so I definitely have thoughts and will do a comparison shortly... I want to give the Luba another few weeks of running (and firmware/app updates) however.

I just realized it's going to be hard finding a place to put my luba, I was hoping to put it in my garage. The RTX line of sight to the luba probably changes that unless I can get it to work through a glass window. I've got till June to figure it out.

I’m not 100% it needs line of sight… I just know it didn’t work when I had it next to my house. The house is an 1800s farmhouse with 24” thick stone walls though…

I'm in the same boat... I'm also in the 3rd batch. My property would have 3 mowing areas'... front-yard, Backyard and on one side. I'm not sure where exactly I'm going to place the RTK antenna, however, there is video from Luba's youtube channel which they made a while ago which showed the RTK antenna doesn't exactly need line of sight. In their video example, the RTK antenna signal went through the house... but I'm sure that depends on the structure of the house. But I just checked their site, and I can't find that video... however, in another video in their channel in the video titled "Things You Need To Know About Luba RTK"... someone in the comment section asked about the direct line of sight and Luba themselves responded with "Hi Klaus, Luba doesn't have to be in a direct line-of-sight with RTK reference station. Thank you." ... I suppose you and I will know for sure come June!

I actually found the video I mentioned about RTK and not needing a line of sight from Luba... on their channel its titled "RTK Video - Front and Back Yard Lawn Mowing"...

I just found a video on "Down Grid Survival" channel, and he maps the Ecoflow blade around his whole house, a 360, full loop. He never even meantions line of sight, so it must "just work". GPS uses radio waves, adn we know that radio waves travel through walls, so it might just be a matter of signal strength vs how obstructive something is that is blocking the line of sight. The video name is "EcoFlow BLADE (Must Watch)"

Hi, why do you have to create different mowing zones, my lawn is very irregular in shape, but it is all connected as one. So would i just be able to map the perimeter ? TIA

Hey Peter - yes you can definitely do one. I have two only because those two sides of my lawn grow at different rates so I like easily being able to do one and not the other.

@@thelonelandlord I asked this question before on Luba's youtube channel... the answer is no. You can't have multiple RTK antennas for one Luba.

Hello, To limit radio radiation at night (antenna attached to the fireplace above my room), is it possible to cut off the power to the antenna and turn it back on in the morning? It seems to me that it is 900Mhz or WIFI?

I don't see why not as long as the RTK location is not moved

I'm pretty pleased so far.... they are tweaking the software to fix some issues (like issues with the mower turning/driving along the same path and wearing tracks in the lawn) I'll be updating soon on RTK signal and also the good & bad so far... I have a Husqvarna Automower at one of our properties to compare to. Thanks for watching!

So have you found that the line of site really matters for the RTK? I see you put it on the roof and that would be ideal for me too. However, I also have a roofed front porch that would be very easy for me to access it if I mounted it closer to the front of that.

what I've found so far is that line of sight (or lack thereof) has no impact. the only requirements I've experience so far are clear view of the sky for both the RTK and the mower itself... prolonged blockage of satellite signal to the mower creates a problem.

Yesterday I finally received my luba and I can tell you for certain (and much to my surprise) that the RTK does not require line of sight! I placed the RTK in the base (ground) on the back left corner of my house and luba had no issues mowing the lawn on the front right of my house even though I have lots of trees there... and, currently a good deal of haze of smoke from Canada's massive forest fires (I'm in New York)... and luba handled it just fine. The RTK signal went through the length of my house without issue. Now I don't have any large rock/concrete walls or anything like that ... just a concrete foundation, wood frame, sheet rock, glass and vinyl siding.

Thanks for sharing! I tested out line-of-sight in my 3rd video on Luba and had the same conclusion... it had no issue traveling through the 24" thick stone walls of our old farmhouse. Enjoy, mine has been working near flawlessly!

@@thelonelandlord The Power Cord to the base station, can it be cut by the lawn mower if it is placed further away from a receptacle and it is in an area of the lawn that needs to be cut? Will the Zuba cut high enough not to cut the power cord?

What diameter pole can the RTK be clamped onto?

the pole it comes with is about 1 1/4" O.D. There is a lot of room in the screw clamp however I bet it would fit at least 1" bigger

The Luba only works in a perfectly rectangular garden. As soon as you have corners and edges, it doesn't work anymore! Since it's a Chinese company, then don't return it and you won't get your money refunded 😤

Hi Tim - not sure what your referring to. You can program Luba to follow any border edge it does not have to be a rectangle.
