Spring and racing season is just ahead of us, so that means project season is kicking into high gear! One of the major projects we had going last year was Katrina Bell's 73 Dodge Charger, also known as Momma's Mopar. The engine has been sitting on an engine stand since late last spring but now it's time to get this thing dropped in the fenders and ready to roar!
For those who aren't up on this project, a little back story. Katrina purchased this car in July of 2018 because she was tired of not having a fun ride of her own and wanted to be part of the, as she calls it, "Sexy Car Club". Originally equipped with a 318 a some point in this cars past it was swapped out to a smog era big block Mopar going with a 400 cubic inch B series. The 400 Mopar is essentially the famous 383 big block just bored a bit further and with less compression. Unfortunately these motors were never very desirable or powerful BUT that can be fixed!
After dealing with issue after issue with the tired old 400 currently in the car, the decision was made to start fresh with an all new motor. With a donor 400 cubic inch block out of a '76 Dodge truck we modified a factory 440 rotating assembly with plenty of new parts to build a 451 Stroker Mopar! All that was done, and sitting waiting for it's chance. Now we've finally had the time and weather to get her car in here and time to take it apart!
In this video, the 73ChargerChic herself is in the shop with us again to help pull her old motor out! Not only is this young lady the owner of this car, she's also races it, AND is willing to wrench as well! This is just the beginning of what should be an AWESOME racing/show season for her and we'll bring it all to you! Welcome back to the Momma's Mopar Dodge Charger project!

That great to see the charger getting a 451 thats a great stroker kit for the 400 block street or strip, You two do know that in 1973 charges came with 318 2 barrel or 4 barrel options and 400 2 barrel and 4 barrel options and the rare chargers in that year 1973 came with a 440 yes. I Also would make sure to maybe take the battery out guys before working on your car under the hood any ways good way to start a fire or BBQ yourself. Really great to see you both bring that old chargers back i look forward to more videos well done

Yes sir, it's going through a whole new transformation currently! Plans took a little bit of a turn which you'll see more of very soon! This 451 setup is going to take her Charger from mild cruiser to SERIOUS bruiser really really quick. Gonna be a whole new monster for her to learn! This car was originally a 318 car, even still has the sticker ;) But those days of weezing little smallblack are long long gone!

The first thing I do when pulling the engine is pull the hood. Makes it easier.
@LucoreAuto
@LucoreAuto 3 жыл бұрын
Eh, sometimes yes. Depending on the vehicle it's not always necessary. If you have watched many of our videos we often don't end up pulling the hood, as we don't drop engine/transmission in together. Plus, that's just one more complication of uninstalling/reinstalling since the car will be sitting for a little bit with no engine in it. No "refitting it" when you just stick with popping the hood ;)

Gorgeous! And the Charger is very nice as well! Love to see the old Mopars being brought back to life, that one looks like it has seen a lot of love in the last few years, nice work Miss Katrina. Looking forward to checking out the other videos. Looks like these boys hearts are much bigger than I originally thought. Seems like y'all make a habit out of random acts of kindness and that speaks volumes on its own.

It's been a journey bringing this thing back to life but it will all be worth it in the end! She's had frustration after frustration with it since the purchase but hopefully all of that will soon be over! Can not WAIT for the first time she romps on this thing in its new setup and the thing wants to either lift the front tires or do a massive burnout. THAT will be an excellent reward :)

If you're gonna teach the girl, do it right. Do not use the battery as a bench for your nuts, washers and spanner. You want fireworks just get a bigger spanner and lay it across the terminals, yeah, you'll only do that once.
