I personally believe that this is a must have lens for both photographers and video shooters who use micro four third bodies.
The Image Quality is Superb and the lens produces beautiful background bokeh.

Hello, as all my lenses I had this one as second hand, too. I was reading about the super quality of this 25mm lens and got it for a good price. But… after a while, I sold it because I was disappointed about the build and optical quality. Instead I love the 15mm leica and the 30mm Macro lens, both gives my fantastic sharpness and a feel-good-build quality. Thanks for the nice Video!

It's a no brainer. At that price for a "nifty fifty" with f1.7, how can you not buy it. Pair it with the kit lens and the really sweet 42.5 with image stabilization and you've got a great suite of lenses. I would like to have something at 10-12mm for vlogs.

Hi Singh! I have a lot of problems focusing while filming. I see you have the same problem in your B-Roll example since it didn't look sharp. What do you suggest to improve this? I'm thinking it is not great as a vlog lens as I'm afraid that while walking it will not focus properly on my face. Was wondering what your opinion is? It's also too zoomed in. I'm thinking about using the Sigma 60mm you suggested in your top 3 lenses video for vlogging as it will probably have less issues focusing on me and show a wider angle, what's your opinion? Love to know. Keep up the good work!

Great video, just subscribed :) I only recently got into photography and purchased a Lumix G80 (G85). The kit lens is great but I need 2 more lenses, one wide angle to shoot northern lights and another for portraits, which ones should I go for? P.s for northern lights I read I need at least f2.8, because the 25mm 1.7 is equivalent to f3.4 on full frame is not sufficient then?

Sach Gulati It is always a hard thing to find a fast wide angle lens for m43 system, regarding night photography there is the 25mm f1.4 leica glass from Panasonic which will give you an equivalent of f2.8, I will personally suggest the Panasonic Leica 15mm f1.7 which strikes the right balance between fast focus and the wide focal length, Also Thank you for subscribing, and welcome to the channel, btw the G80 is an awesome camera👌!! ✌️

@Sach gulati you may take a look at Voigtlander 10.5 mm f0.95 lens for northern lights or any kind of night photography. This is equivalent to 21 mm f1.9 on a full frame.

Hello Snow motion pictures, if you want a Wide angle on budget for m43, the Slr Magic 8mm is a great manual focus option (it is under $200)

What kind of lenses you will suggest , for shooting in low light (for exaple restaurants.) Focal Length ? Angle of View ? Max Aperture f/ ?? Min Aperture f/?? Stabilised I use body panasonic G6

Advertising videos If you are looking for Native Panasonic Glass, then for Low light in something like a restaurant, I would go with the Lumix 15mm f/1.7 because in a place like restaurant you need to have a wide focal length. If you want to have a semi wide, then this 25mm f1.7 is a great option as well!! The 12-35 f2.8 is also a great all rounder, but it’s just not going to be as bright as the lenses mentioned above in low light!!

Like Voigtlander Nokton 10.5mm or 17,5 f/0.95 Lens for Micro Four Thirds Cameras, or to use electronic lenses conected.with panasonic body. What is your opinion about lenses without stabilization but wide angle. Must I Use steadycam??

Hi. I have Lumix G7 with kit lens 14-42 mm. I would like to buy 25 mm f/1.7 to record me talking on youtube (just like you in this video). Is there any better lens for about $200 than this Lumix G 25 f/1.7?

This lens is a good price already. Lack of OIS is the only problem for me. But since you'll be talking, I assume you're going to put the camera on a tripod. It's going to be fine.

Check out the SLR Magic 8mm f/4.0 👍 $139 on amazon (currently) and you can usually find it for ~$100 preowned.

Hey Thanks for asking man, I would not go with this camera if you are looking for vloging and photos, for that I would suggest the canon 80d or the canon sl2. But if you really want 4k then this is pretty much the only camera in this price range that provides that!!

Deep life Great I work in a studio environment with manual focus for my videos. For vlogging you need to have a camera that has great autofocus, which unfortunately this camera doesn't have, but if you can find a workaround for that then is camera is absolutely perfect!

Bro you have pretty bad reverb in that room, aside from typical solutions that cost money like audio panels you might just stuff the room more with soft stuff out of the camera view like sofa, pillows, blankets etc. It will get rid of the excessive echo pretty nicely.

F1.7 is f1.7 it’s only the crop factor that changes

Barry Maskell I agree different lenses can have different meanings of f1.7, all I said is that it is almost equivalent to a f3.4 on full frame equivalence in terms of light gathering and background bokeh. But yes it still is a f1.7!! 😊✌️

Adrian Marin m43 is a 2 times crop factor, so a native 25mm is about 50mm full frame equivalent!!

Kagan I appreciate your criticism which is heavily based on the video aspects of this lens , and I do make the same points that you mention, regarding focus by wire system & the fact that the build quality could have been better , but still I personally I feel that the pros of this lens far outweigh the cons at the given price, which is generally $150, here in the U.S. !! ✌️😊
