In June 2016, after a couple of months of ownership, I did a video review of this vessel (link below).
Now, after two seasons plus on the water, I’m happy to report that this quality rig continues to impress.

Just watched your review on the Lund 1875 . You did a fantastic job on all aspects of the boat. I have just purchased my frist Lund 1875 Renegade . I 'm 71 years old and have had many boats before this one . Your absolutely correct in your assignment as far as stability and it being a real solid vessel. I as well do a lot of fishing by myself and need to carry most of the gear you mentioned. Again, I really enjoy your video and good luck in Michigan in 2021 . If you come to my territory in Ontario Canada make sure you fish Lake St. Clair . Looking forward to your next review or fishing tips .

AJ, sweet review man. I liked this video almost as much as your Baccarac videos from a couple falls ago! Question regarding charging. If the batteries are in the front under the rod locker, does the rod locker need to be open when charging? Or is there another outlet/plug somewhere else that’s connected to the battery bank?
@AjLynn45thParallelFishing

Thank you for the kinds words and the support. I appreciate it. I use AGM maintenance free batteries (Optima Blue tops 31M) so the rod locker does not need to be open. During the initial wiring & rig out of the boat, I had the dealer wire & install the connection plug for the Dual Pro Charger in the bulkhead drivers side next to the fuse box. It's right where I need it to facilitate easy access of the extension cord to charge it.

What a great review, thank you so much. I was looking for exactly that kind of first hand information for a very long time. I especially liked the option with the vinyl in the bottom. I have three questions: - Did you use the SportTrak system for attaching any rod holders or other tools? - Did you ever remove the second console? Is it a lot of work and how does ot look like without it? - I am not fishing huge waters and therefore would consider the 150HP, also to be more economic. Do you see any constraints in that choice? Thank you so much, Chris
@AjLynn45thParallelFishing
@AjLynn45thParallelFishing 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Chris ~ Yes I have & do use the sports trak to hold rod holders and I use it inside the compartments to hang accessory bags for tools. The Optional console although very solid & secure, amazingly it is Very Easy to remove / re-install - One bolt - by hand. I am a proponent of having the HP rating carried on the plate for any boat - It ensures that one can get the vessels best performance - anything else will offer some reduction of that - can not say what the 150 will provide - I know it will have to work harder than the 200 does to get close to the same performance. btw - if you're buying new - hold out for the new V-8 XS - it's a 4 stroke and by all accounts a Very Sweet Motor. Good Luck. btw if you haven't seen my first review - here it is kzfaq.info/get/bejne/htJ9hK9ltJfZYKc.html I talk a little about the sports trak near the end of that clip
@christianbaatz
@christianbaatz 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your insights, very helpful with the console and also Trak system. I will look into the motors once I have decided for the right boat. So far I am stuck between the Pro-V Bass 1875 and the new brand Vexus with its model 1880. Do you have any opinion on that head to head comparision?
@AjLynn45thParallelFishing
@AjLynn45thParallelFishing 6 жыл бұрын
The Pro-V Bass is built on the IPS2 Hull - it's deep (25 inch transom), durable, capable & most importantly - Proven. The Vexus is an aluminum hull with a glass top - new design and not proven. Not knocking it - just a fact. Also the Vexus runs a much shallower hull - wouldn't work for me as I would not run that on bigger water. So I can't compare the two - in my mind they are very different boats. IMO There's nothing on the market right now that compares to the Pro-V bass

Thanks to your reviews I'm now officially the proud owner of a new Pro-V Bass 1875. It was just delivered to my dealer and we're now in the process of ordering the accessories to get it rigged. I went with; Merc 200 Pro XS, twin 12' Talons with tilt brackets, Helix 10 Mega SI Gen3s on bow and console, 5 port ethernet switch, Ultrex 112 lb with mega side imaging (may add 360 later). You've been kind enough to answer a few of my initial questions and now that I'm working with my dealer on rigging I hope you don't mind more questions. The first question is, what are your thoughts about adding external GPS antennas for the Helix 10s?
@AjLynn45thParallelFishing
@AjLynn45thParallelFishing 4 жыл бұрын
Congrats on the new rig ~ ! I have the external GPS Puck ~ it provides a "heading" line / marker that constantly lets me know the boats heading - even when the boat is stationary - very helpful when target casting to non-visible structure seen in front of the boat on the 360 - ESPECIALLY at Night ! I'll never not have one. I added a pic to my reply on your FB post - I positioned it out of the way in front/just in board of the Port Console.

Hey man, just wanted to say that’s a beautiful boat. I’ll be picking up a Lund bass boat soon myself. Question for you? Not so much about the boat though, I noticed in your other video you were towing it with a truck, “I know that sounds dumb”. You wouldn’t happen to be towing with a Toyota Tacoma? I’m asking cause I have a Toyota Tacoma myself and kind of worrying about the tow weight. I’m looking at getting the Lund Pro-V bass in the 2075 model. Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks.
@AjLynn45thParallelFishing
@AjLynn45thParallelFishing 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks ~ My tow vehicle is a 2018 GMC Sierra Denali - it has a 6.2L 420 hp engine and the max trailering package. It's rated to tow up to 12,500lbs. The 1875 Pro-V bass boat, motor & trailer plus a full tank of boat gas and all my gear (4 ea 31M Optima batteries, 112 Fortrex, the 4 Bank Dual Pro on board charging system, twin Talons all the fishing tackle) probably weighs in the neighborhood of 4,200lbs give or take. (I've not actually weighed it - that's a guesstimate) The GMC tows and more importantly stops, this load with confidence. While I have no practical experience towing with a Toyota Tacoma - according to Toyota the base 2017 model has a 2.7-liter 4-cylinder engine is able to deliver 159 horsepower and 180 lb-ft torque and can tow up to 3,500 pounds. The available 3.5-liter V6 powertrain, on the other hand, is capable of producing 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft torque. I'd recommend buying a bigger truck or a smaller boat.
@marcusyoung2870
@marcusyoung2870 5 жыл бұрын
I concur with everything that Mr. Aj said. Make sure your know the exact specs of your truck because, as already stated, not all Tacomas are equal in ratings and the exact weight of the boat/trailer your towing. It's also important to take into consideration the weight and length of your tow vehicle in terms of stability while towing, especially on a open highway. Longer trucks have more stability while towing. Based on the weight of Mr. Ajs boat, you could possibly get away with it on your Tacoma if you have a V6 with the appropriate towing package and a weight distributing hitch, but as already stated, getting going is easy, stopping the load is another story. Upgrading your tow vehicle to a half-ton with a V8 and appropriate towing package would make your day a lot easier. If your were to upgrade, I'd say anything 09 or newer should suffice, but the older you go, the more important it is to know the exact towings specs and package of the truck you're buying because with all manufacturers, even within the same model, different packages have different capabilities, which can not only get you in trouble physically but also legally if you're pulled over and found to be over the specific GCWR of your vehicle.
@kfs4869

@@marcusyoung2870 That sounds a little more comforting to my ears. I have a full size Toyota Tacoma, it's a double cab and the longest bed you can get in a Tacoma. I check the Toyota website and according to them the truck is able to tow up to 6800 lb.

When deciding which rig best suits your needs, there's several things to consider. But before I answer, I need to know a few details to offer accurate & useful info. What is your own boating experience level ? Do you own a rig now and if so what is it and how long have you been running it ? Do you fish alone most of the time or with a another angler or two ? Do you have any storage concerns or limitations ? Also what is you're tow vehicle ?

@@AjLynn45thParallelFishing I owned an 18 foot, 30 hp Gruman, which I sold some 15 years ago, so I would say, pretty novice. I have not been in one since, raising a family and such, college, but the end is near. I have been bank fishing for the past year, re-building my tackle, and now saving money for a boat. Like you, I will be alone most of the time, occasionally two. At the moment, I would be towing with my 4-Runner, which claims is rated to tow 5K lbs. I am surprised it is not rated for more. I have pretty much decided to go with the bench seats, as they offer much more storage than the XS. I cannot see needing any more than that, and I don't think another boat offers more storage than Lund in the 19-21' range. Thanks again in advance. Lund should put you on the payroll.

May I ask where do you put your trolling motor batteries?
@AjLynn45thParallelFishing
@AjLynn45thParallelFishing 2 жыл бұрын
Certainly. The trolling motor batteries are in the space under the rods in the rod locker. I really prefer them in this location as it puts the weight low and in the center of the hull. I run 3 Group 31M Optima Blue Top batteries and a Dual Pro Quad battery charger which is also in the rod locker

Hey AJ... you have your tilt brackets mounted direct to your transom, correct? Minn Kota states they will not work with direct mount. But, I think if you hold them up to the top of the transom they will.

NO CLUE what you are referring to. "Your new Talon come out of the box with the hardware you'll need to install it directly to the transom of your boat" From the installation manual ~ minnkotamotors.johnsonoutdoors.com/sites/johnsonoutdoors-store/files/assets/misc/MI/M/MIN_productmanual_Talon-BT-Install/MIN_productmanual_Talon-BT-Install.pdf

@@AjLynn45thParallelFishing Yes, no problem for just the Talon, It is the tilt bracket that comes with the warning. " Requires use of a Talon Adapter Bracket - not intended for use with Talon direct-mounted to hull of boat." It is included in all sales descriptions and in the install manual. I think the issue is clearance for the release clip, as the unit is tilted back towards the hull. If mounted all the way to the top of the transom, it would clear, by going over the top. If mounted down a couple inches, that release clip would not have enough clearance and hit the back of the boat...if I understand the operation correctly. Must be able to...you have tilt brackets on yours.

@@AjLynn45thParallelFishing That answers the original question, they aren't mounted direct to the transom, you need the 6" spacer. In your vids it appears they are mounted direct, as camera is always straight on, no side view. Thanks for your time

Can't fish 4 comfortably out of the 1875 but I've seen some video of the 4 guys fishing musky nicely in the 2075. And the XS is much better for family fun than the bench seat version - Good Luck.

AJ!! Great video. ShimanoAngler from BR. Small world. Do you still have this boat? That boat is the one boat I have had my eye on for a while. We have a big, and I mean big, aluminum boat in a Tracker Targa V20. Boat is over 20 feet long with a 102" beam. It is a big water machine that is VERY stable. That said, its not ideal for bass fishing, as we almost a foot above water in the bow and slightly less than that in the stern. This makes netting almost a mandate as it can be hard to handle fish if there is any chop. I have mine decked out like yours, but I think the Misses and I are almost ready to move to an aluminum bass boat like the one you have. She is tired of me catching all the fish from the bow as there just isn't room for two in the bow area of my boat and she hates driving the trolling motor, so that leaves me with first dibs on all new water. :-) Is there a reason you chose the 1875 versus the 2075 beyond dollars (I know the bigger boat is more expensive).?? I have had my eye on the 2075 in the very same color you have. That is THE boat I keep coming back to. Great vid. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Nick. Yes I most certainly do still have this boat. I fish alone 95% of the time so launching & recovering the bigger rig solo could be a concern. Additionally I'm pretty sure the 2075 would not fit in my garage without leaving the GMC Denali outside. And that's not happening. Good Luck with any future purchase

Gas tank location,please?

@AjLynn45thParallelFishing 4 жыл бұрын
Hello Tomm, I'm not sure if you're inquiring as to the gas fill tube location or where the actual gas tank is located/positioned within the hull. The fill tube is on the port side right at the corner where the hull and the transom meet. I am not able to tell you specifically where within the hull the gas tank is located. May I ask why you want to know this ?
@tommwarneke396
@tommwarneke396 4 жыл бұрын
Aj Lynn , thanks for your reply. I was interested in tank location? I Find many tanks stuck in back or aft of console in aluminum boats. Making for a lighter bow? I enjoy some of this weight forward to allow for people and full live wells behind console. I believe Weight forward helps the bow stay down. Less bow slap. Thus my question, just inquiring mind! 🤔
