Damn man, this album and especially The Cool and the MYH saga pretty much saved my life. It gave me a whole different perspective on life itself. I can also relate to this and Boyz N the Hood because I had a positive father in my life. He was brutally honest about what was going on around us and always tried his best to guide me in the right direction. My brother and I were the only kids on the block that graduated High School. I know it's not a big deal to some but I'm so grateful for my father in helping us to achieve this small little accomplishment. This track and this saga hits me deeper than anything because I saw this exact thing happening around me all my life. Most of my friends fell to the game and the streets. As a child I always thought my father was so mean and strict because he never let me hang around with my so called friends. I sometimes hated my father as a child because of this. Little did I know he probably save my life. Being born and raised in Chicago, this hits too close to home. There's has not been another artist that has moved as much as Lupe has. He's much more than just a rapper, this man has made me cry more than any other artist. Thank you Lupe for always trying to guide us in the right direction and enlightening us with your music. "My only promise is I'll never ruin the young" you weren't lying Lupe 🙌🏼 Apologies for the long post, I just felt I had to share.
