good comparation, I have the same MAC Pro 3.3 96 GB with the 5700 and the MACBOOK M1 Pro 16 ", The MAC PRO keeps quit, while my macbook runs hot during exporting in MPEG-4 so not everything is better on the macbook, but it saves energy and at the end of the year you save some money

yeah, a laptop certainly has to compromise when it comes to cooling with smaller fans that have to run faster and thus noisier, but there aren’t many tasks that really push the laptop to the point of running the fans high for more than a few minutes at a time. M3 Max thermal controls are a little different and have noticed it seems to keep the fans slower until it has to ramp them faster than the M2, doing some testing on that right now. On a strenuous task the fans will ramp up to full speed (over 5000rpm) on the M3 Max.
