M1891 Upgraded to the 91/30 - Mosin Nagants

Many individuals have never had their hands on an M1891 Mosin Nagant, but are very familiar with the 91/30. In this video, I'd like to look at some of the upgrades made between the two rifles.

The Hex receiver was made until 1937. So, you will find hex receivers that were always M91/30s. I have one example in my collection, a 1935 Tula. Of course, you will also find old Hex receivers rebuilt into M91/30s, M44s & M91/59s. 🤠

The 91/30 is basically just an M1891 Dragoon rifle that was streamlined for mass production and given simpler sights.

True. I don’t have a dragoon. I’d like to get one, but they have a steep pricetag

The only "upgrades" I see that are functionally better are the shorter barrel and sights. Even then the 91/30 is awful long. Great videos as always!

I like the different hand-guard attachment is a bit sturdier too.

10:10 "П" stamp is repair shop. Maybe the "first artillery repair shop" or something like that. There are a lot of brands, as well as repair shops.

Good video..... Sarco in Pa. told me if a hex receiver 91/30 was made prior to the 30's in the 20's and earlier they consider them Ex-Dragoons but I don't know if that is true .. Even though the M-39's Finn.'s re-barreled, new stocks n triggers their still a Mosin action which isn't a 98 action which is too bad :-( btw, nice 91 ya have there... be well MB.

It is. I’ll take out on a video sometime, but the sights are a little messed up.

yep people shit on them when compared to mausers but a much more fair comparison is the carcano and lebel / bertheir , it may not be the smoothest bolt gun but there is a reason a mosin shows up in every war post russo/japanese war

Because Russia/Soviets made millions and they still make ammo. The rifles, themselves, were obsolete before they were adopted.

Nah they were better than carcanos , old long Lee's and the lebel which had to be maunelly loaded, sure they were obsolete by 1898 tho

You know I how to chance to buy a pre 1898 1891 but short foolishly I thought it could not use modern ammunition mind you this was the early nineties so they were selling for nothing and I stupidly turned didn't do it
