Started well but spent so much time on breaking ever single key while missed very important steps. Your video motivated me to do it. It took 6 hours for me and eventually was a successful project but certainly could not do it with just this video.

Thanks for posting that video. Yesterday sadly decided to use tweezers in that little hole under the 2 pads in center of a keyboard button (under the switch) to pull up on that metal to try to make it higher so it would touch switch easier. Sadly, although was careful, a tiny split happened between those 2 pads and a bottom corner pad (split the White metal frame slightly) and after that the h, y, and 6 keyboard buttons all didn’t function. (Was the h keyboard button) Pondering putting some solder in that split, but I at least want to know what is under that White metal frame without dismantling that entire computer. Thankfully visiting shenzhen, so there are some options…although only about 10 days to get that done this trip

thanks for the contribution! So, I have this question about the replacement piece itself, does the keyboard replacement come with the backlight part or the idea is to reuse the original backlight? I ask this cos I've seen some listings including just the backlight mechanism (not the keyboard) and I want to buy it correctly.

Hi, thanks for this video! question... at what time mark in the video do you remove a) the keyboard ribbon cable, b) the trackpad ribbon cable and c) the touchpad ribbon cable?

Hi, after removing the logic board you can remove all the attached cables on the keyboard.

Hi i have a question. I spill water on my keyboard and brought it to apple. they have sayed that i need to change the topcase coz the keyboard is not working properly. can i change only the keyboard?

Because they only want to sell the complete top case. That's the way Apple works

Incredible to see Apple bending aluminium in “half of the spots” to try to make it imposible. I removed the aluminum drilling them. I could remove almost the entire keyboard.

I don't understand what's happening around @7:15. After you pop the keys out you seem to be peeling the black part out but on mine there are what look like little rivets holding that in. What I'm missing is how you then get the new keyboard into place if those rivets are still there after you pull out the black material...

The rivets keep the whole keyboard in place, removing those rivets with a Dremel will allow the whole keyboard to come out as one piece. For some reason, he decided to break apart the keyboard and remove it piece by piece.

thanks! This video is really helpful. I have a question..Is the product in this video correct for 2017 macbook Pro 15-inch TouchBar? I went to the repair shop and they said that this product cannot remove the keyboard. < I can't believe this.😭

The reason for this is because a 'normal' repair shop will not go to this level of work, or even know it's possible. The keyboard is rivited to the top case - that's why he has to destroy it to remove it. When Apple replace the keyboard (which they do for free on the 2017 because of their awful keyboard design) they replace the entire top case, aluminium and all.

@@dylanevans5644 I went to the apple store today and they are charging $690 to replace my keyboard for my 2017. If it's free for the 2017 I'm going to be pissed.

Try to care more about clients screen, as it is so delicate, and can be damaged by the parts of the keyboard that you break out, moreover, these particles of debris can get into the space between the screen and the bottom case and damage the matrix cable, in general, it is better to separate the screen during such operations. Nitrile gloves on your hands would be better for general quality of work.. than this electro-static safety wristband ) Why not to use screw instead of glue? Is it possible to completely remove rivets from bottom case and use screws in holes which holds rivets?

Hello, good videos, congratulations. for the Macbook Pro A1707 can the SSD be changed and how would the change process be done? Regarding the battery, it can be replaced and which one do you recommend placing it. Thank you.

I know the SSD can't be changed alone because they were soldered onto the lotical board. But the whole board can be replaced which is more expensive.

hi repair shop changed my keyboard and my internal microphone is not working at all. Whats the problem?

You have to go back to the repair shop and let them check the microphone flex, maybe it's damaged or not plugged in. Good luck

FYI, if you remove the pegs, there are screw holes underneath. This is why the keyboards usually come with dozens of extra screws.

Can you help me please? I replaced my trackpad on MacBook pro A1707 but now the keyboard doesn't work and I cannot login! The trackpad works. What did I do wrong?

Just check the trackpad and topcase cable, these both parts communicate with each other. Last but not least do not forget about the trackpad, maybe you bought a faulty trackpad. Good luck

@@ApplepartsnlHeerenveen Thank you. I noticed that there is this small latch/clip I needed to press down after connecting the cable to the trackpad. Once I did that, the keyboard started working again!
