Oh, don't forget paper is important on both sides of the grinding wheel.

This was perfect timing ! I need to extend my shaft while making me a rotary table and this is exactly how I need to make it . Awesome job as usual ! Thanks for all you do !! I also need to make me one of these for drill bits . Double benefits

After seeing winky build his grinder and put CBN wheels on it and liking them so good on his review I bought the same wheels for mine and they are great .

Good one. I’ve got one of those Craftsman drill sharpening jigs and they do tie up one end of a grinder. Good idea on the dedicated sharpening station. I’ll be interested to see part 2.

I noticed your drill sharping tool which is the same as the one I have. I used a cup grinding wheel on my 6 x 12 surface grinder to sharpen drills. It does require some setup including putting the cup wheel on the grinder, however it does work quite well in sharpening drills.

Always happy to wake up on Saturday morning and see a new TBT video. They are first class in information, instruction, lighting, audio and the projects are very interesting and useful. I do wish that if known, you would tell the steel type. I understand you may not know it, but if you do, it would be nice to pass along. I like to leave comments and even forward to myself via iMessage to help the algorithm. Hopefully others will follow suit and get your subs into the stratosphere!

This is a nice little project. I have one comment. I have heard that when mounting The grinding wheels to the arbor a paper or fiber washer the size of the washers should be used between the wheel and washers. I believe that two hard surface putting pressure on each other is not good. The grinding wheel might have more tendency to break. I'm not sure but I think the grinding wheels usually come with the fiber spacers glued to the wheels. KOKO!

Hi Lee. Wouldn't you want to turn the large washers around the other way, so that the cupped side is facing out? Maybe it doesn't matter but I would think the contact surface to the grinding wheel would be greater that way. Also, I noticed the switched outlet device you have the motor plugged into. I had one like that, which was rated for a 15A load, with a space heater plugged into it and it melted the device itself and the outlet it was plugged into. The heater was rated at 1500 watts so it should have been less than a 15A load at 120V. For the motor, it is probably fine but wanted to pass along my experience. Mine could have started a fire if I wasn't sitting nearby and smelt it burning.

Make sure that grinding wheel is rated for side grinding, most are not and you would need a cupped wheel. Wheels can do nasty things if they are used in a way they were not designed for. Or set the rig up to grind on the rim if the wheel is not rated for face grinding. Enjoyed the video (and you never even went to the grinding machine!!).

I’ve used these that were purchased from McMaster car and they have two set screws in line

I believe I would extend the thread somewhat more in case another wheel is a bit narrower, or wire wheel should you want to use one.

Another great video. I just dragged out another general 825 sharpener. I'm reading Harold Hall's Tool and Cutter Sharpening book. Are you going to make a grinder rest too?

Well done. Nice video. How does the disc get so well centered? When checking in the lathe it looked like quite som air between the disc and the arbour.

We are on the same page. Have the same sharpener etc. The key to very good results is a well balanced wheel. Make the arbor longer to accommodate a pair of balancing disks behind the wheel. The discs are easy to make and use. I much prefer this to removing material from the wheel especially with this jig where we contact the wheel on the side. I would do it myself but my channel only has a few 100 subs so it will get much wider distribution if you do it.
