Two great effects in one small box. Easy to use and in my opinion (and experience) excellent tones. You can get inside and tweak repeats, bass shelving and two(!) delay times if you wish; I love it straight out of the box.
Guitar : 2006 Fender '62 RI Stratocaster (stock) & 2009 Music Man Axis (stock)

Mic : Violet Design 'The Amethyst Standard' (amp) Samson Airline77 (me)
Camera : Canon 60D (me) and Sony HDR CX150 (pedal)
Soundcard : AVID Mbox Pro 3
Computer : Apple iMac 27" i7 3.4 GHz 16 GB RAM
Software : Pro Tools 10 LE, Waves CLA Guitars (slight comp over input track), Waves L3-16 Limiter (to keep levels in check at output), Apple Final Cut Pro X (video editing and KZfaq compression).

I own this pedal also. Together with my Laney L5 Studio and Kool and Elfring 1 x 12 cabinet it sounds awesome. The delay sounds great as well. I just can't stop playing.

I used to have a Strat just like that. My advice - stick a tortoise scratchplate on it and make it 1000% better looking. Thanks for the demo too - genuinely useful.

Two very different pedals. I tend towards this one because it has simple controls and offers delay also, which I use a lot. It also cooks with either humbuckers or single coils (and so does the Ecstasy). I could find a use for both on my board.

what i like about this pedal is it keeps the strat voice, and adds to the quacky tones in the 4th position

I wouldn't bet on it. Also, after having used it for a bit, I like it just the way it is, straight out of the box.

They're so different I'd hate to be forced to make a choice. I like them both and will unlikely ever sell either. If it's any help, the PRS comes with me on tour always while the Axis only accompanies me occasionally. Cheers, B.

Nice demo, I have a ts808 I run into an ocd for my overdrive/lead sound. How would you compare the bluebird to the ocd?

@Brett Kingman hey I've been considering purchasing a PRS custom 24 but I'm also looking at a music man axis cuz of your demos and I've heard they're excellent quality as well. Owning both, which one do you recommend? Thanks

As crazy as it may sound, I don't think I've ever tried an OCD. I asked Mike Fuller if I could demo some of his stuff but he politely declined since he could do it himself. And since I have no need to actually own any of his pedals I haven't demoed any. So the short answer is: I don't know! :)

Strymon have their own guys and despite asking in the past I've not had much correspondence with them. Which is a shame because I think I could coax some pretty cool sounds out of their stuff. Oh well, we move on... :) Thanks for the kind words and enjoy your PRS. Great guitars!

You've played the riff to Unchained many times, but I think this pedal gets closest to the original sound out of any piece of gear i've heard you play!

How distorted does this thing get? I figure you can't get a metal tone out of it, but can it do an old school hard rock tone like for example late model plexi or JCM 800 type distortion?

Turn the delay knob down. Another overdrive would be around the same price anyway, so your not really losing anything, just gaining a bit of delay if you ever want it.
