This borrows a lot of design and engineering cues from the MP Shockwave. Thats pretty rad for a figure this size.

I will say that mine still has the nylon feel, but it does feel different. Not drastically. I have not decided if I like it, I do like the older nylon feel more. I feel like it will be less likely to break that way, which I know you don't agree with from other reviews, but then stated that due to the less nylon feel you don't think they will get away with the tolerances that they are used to doing. A little contradictory but I feel that statement is correct. As they move away from a more forgiving a durable plastic, the tolerances and survivability will change. Also worth noting, joints will probably get loose faster and for heavier figures like Menasor, it will likely have loose joints out the gate due to the new plastic. The only fix there is to go back to the old plastic or to put in ratchets, which I am sure neither will happen and will suffer an otherwise tits figure. Look at the floppy mess NA is with diecast and the plastic you do like. The Soundwave is a rag doll. Anywho, the jury is still out on the newer plastic but once I complete my Menasor I am sure I will solidify my opinion.

Bro, I've given up on Masterpiece. I'm not afraid or ashamed to say I got priced out. Rising prices on official Masterpiece and 3rd party made me sell off my collection. Now I'm strictly Legends and Generations scale figures. This figure is awesome but NewAge version looks better.

Mine came without the extra backpack, and i'm not even mad. Maybe they realized it does more bad than good lol. The empty slot was there in the box, though.

Never ceases to amaze me how much attention to detail Magic Square, New Age & MechFansToys puts into their pieces. Spock looks GREAT! & a Logical Step Forward. Can't wait for NA's Cyclops. Let the Comparison Battles Commence. Also curious if a ZETA Combined Mode or a ToyWorld or others combined mode can hold him.

I'd like to have seen how his gun mode fit in one of the ham can combiner hands...

I have been leery of the MS plastic ever since it was mentioned that it was kinda gummy. So I haven't got anything from them. But I have the metallic legends Optimus on the way and may get the mp sized Nemisis Prime. Yea a materials vid would be awesome.

Shockwave is never confused, that's illogical, at most he he might be mildly quizzical!

Cool figure, made even cooler by Magic Square realizing they're making LEGENDS figures and not MP. Unlike Newage's pricing which is ridiculous.

I am in the camp that didn't mind the nylon infused plastic. I kind of like that it gave you a little bit of wiggle room with transformation intolerances. I imagine that the change in plastic was to accommodate a more stable combined form with the Stunticons and they are just kind of keeping that change going for future releases

I love how very few reviewers are showing off the light up feature because it's a sickly yellow light and not classic purple as he always shot out. NewAge wins the round for me just from the product shots alone.

Interesting how they actually went through the trouble to mold those gray "wheels" which are meant to represent the hinge that was present on the original toy.

Great shockwave great action figure, I love him. Backpack cover is a fuckin nightmare though.

Up until now, I have been in the camp that appreciates MS' materials. You clearly feel you have some knowledge to drop in that regard so I'll wait and see what you have to say. Other than that, the only thing I find worth commenting on with this figure, other than that it looks pretty good, is that I find the leg transformation odd. It is derivative of most modern Shockwave's but, where they use it to maintain thickness in robot mode legs whilst narrowing down the gun handle, this one curiously retains the thickness in the gun handle which I find an odd choice...

Having come from the video for the NewAge Shockwave...yeah, Magic Square kinda fumbled the ball here. All those hand options don't make up for that. UPDATE 2023Aug18: I stand by what I said, this Shockwave just ain't that good like it should be. Wonky hips and lookin' like a refrigerator don't do it for me. Excluding Iron Factory, where everyone is a chonker, the only Shockwave designs that should be beefy are DotM and TFP (and WOW, that original Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters Shockwave figure was amazing). Anything else should be slim and a bit lanky. Especially G1, he wasn't that chunkdafied. Definitely gonna have to go NewAge here.
