He still physically moves like a professional level athlete with such quickness, flow and composure. He would in my opinion fit on any NBA team, even today. And he is 48 years old??? Abdul Rauf was a beast with the Nuggets in the 90s even though NBA blackballed his career. That jump shot was one of the purest strokes man had seen.

I'm 37 and for the younger generation just know that Rauf had some personal situations that kept him from being a superstar in the NBA. He was basically the Colin Kaepernick of his day. Rauf was a talented player who was outspoken and ostracized for not honoring everything that our national anthem stands for! However, that didn't take away that when he was on the court and got on those red hot shooting streaks he was the most explosive collegiate scorer since Pistol Pete! His only issue in the NBA was consistency. One night he could torch any team for 50 points in the greatest shooting displays not seen since prime Kobe or Steph and then he'd disappear. I'm just lucky I only saw him play on TV during those road games where he'd even torch my Chicago Bulls and give Jordan the fits! From college to the NBA whether he went by Chris Jackson or his Muslim attribute Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf he was an inspiration for American-Muslims and helped pave the way for athletes being able to exercise their freedom of speech.

Mahmoud could really be able to play in the NBA for 8-10 minutes per match as a spot up shooter...dteh

i remember watching a short documentary about M-A-Rs health problems & how he still made it through an NBA day despite....the guy came in an hour or so before games or practice cause he needed like 10, 20, 30 attempts just to tie his shoes until they both felt perfect on his feet

What is truly remarkable about Abdul-Rauf is that he balled at such high level while suffering from turret syndrome! If you are not familiar with turret syndrome it is a disorder that causes involuntary movements and sounds. I recall seeing sports segments detailing how he would arrive hours early to the arena to give him enough time to do simple tasks like tying his sneakers, which could take an hour or more because of the involuntary hand movements, like the need to rapidly clap his hands over and over while he was trying to lace up. I believe medication helped but the disorder is ever present. So when you watch the NBA highlights and his recent play in the Big3 league, remember he is balling while suppressing the disorder! He is an inspiration to all!

You can tell he still puts up 500 shots a day after retirement. He's better from midrange now than he was when he played.

The difference between Chris Jackson and Curry's release speed is: Chris can pull straight up in your face and chest after breaking you down off the dribble. His release is also just as quick shooting flat footed. He also has a first step in addition to his handle. He does not have to side step or back step to get his shot off. If he did no one would be close to blocking his shot. Curry's release is based on his side and back steps in addition to using his handle to keeping you off balance and breaking opponents down. He has no first step. His handle creates opportunities to blow by opponents. Curry must create space to release his shot off the dribble. Curry can not pull up off the dribble faster than Chris Jackson. Mainly because Chris Jackson is superior athletically. However, in terms of distance Curry is the better shooter, and his catch and shoot skill set is probably the only thing that rivals Chris Jackson's release. The tape dont lie
