As I, Jose Miguel, the MaJeliv Dad, write this, I reflect on what Jemi says in our video today: the word “massacre” became more real, it’s not just a word in our history books. I actively pray, that we, or ANYONE, NEVER experience such a hellish scenario again.
Little was left to imagine as we experience the massacre and its aftermath with Udham on the screen. Vicky Kaushal is a powerful actor that fully embodied this role. This film exceeds the acclaim of awards season, this one is meant to impact beyond our lifetime. Thank you Shoojit Sircar for a masterpiece!
This broke us, but never even close to how it broke Udham Singh. We learned of the horrors and rotten abuse of power by the British leaders in the early 20th century as World War II began to boil it eventually veiled this atrocity.
What a powerful film, extremely difficult to watch. Yet it’s necessary to endure it, in order for justice to fully prevail through the generations, truth must be shared. Truth hurts, but it empowers and so, our children must learn the full scope of human history so that the darkness that tainted history does not repeat itself. We cannot allow such atrocities from occurring again. Not in India, or anywhere in the world.

As an Indian i would appreciate if the western people's Watch this movie we don't want Oscar we just want recognition. The damage that Britishers has done to us is so immense that we are still facing its consequences. As one of your viewer i would really appreciate if you atleast tells your friends and colleagues about the film and show them the real face of of Britishers and their ancestors what they did us and other countries too.🙏🙏

For us indians, Britishers are not different from Nazis and imperial Japanese. German and Japanese feel guilty and asked for forgiveness,but so called great Britain and it's citizens are shamelessly proud of their cruelty on us. Thanks from bottom of my heart u guys reacted.

I must specially commend both mom and dad for taking the decision to show the movie to the kids so that they would get a good understanding of events in human history. Also I was really delighted by the level of maturity and wisdom showcased by the kids in grasping and discussing the various aspects of the movie and what it stood for, especially the younger kids for their age. Britishers looted around 45 trillion dollars from India, Before British rule , India contributes by 27% of the world economy but at the time they left in 1947 it was only 0.001 % My country was famously known as 'The Golden Bird' around the globe since the time of Alexander Alexander's dream was not only to conquer the world but his main motto was to rule the Golden bird in which he was not able to get success cuz he was defeated at the border of India by one of the King Porus at that time

Actually Alexander won, so he asked the king who fought against him ( Porus) .. How should I treat you? To which Porus stated Like how one king treats another king. Alexander was impressed with courage and battle strategies of Porus.. That he let him have his kingdom and returning back to his hometown, where he died on the journey.. The victory came at great cost to them.

@@Jaisonkp800 No, I think you are not aware of the real truth, earlier I also used to believe on this story but the truth is different The history of Massedonia,Greece,rest of Europe was written by the European historians, they have not mentioned the reality according to many Indian historians,etc as if they mentioned the truth then it may not be anymore glorifying to them that the one who conquered the Asia was lost against a ruler of Punjab Alexander was like a Barbarian who has done the massacres to the levels where one can imagine, I've read a book on him in which some terrific events are mentioned like he killed his father, killed his own countrymen on a large scale who were protesting against him, murdered 14 year girls after having brutal se* with them, burnt 100k-200k people alive, attack during the time of war halt, killed many monks,etc He was ruthless,cruel to the next level as he wanted to conquer the world and doesn't want anyone to come in between his way and also had the desire to rule the Golden bird as his mother wanted india to be ruled by her The world outside India at that time didn't fight by using elephants,Gada, and many more different types of weapons which he wasn't aware of the strategy of their fight patterns, their skills, after all it was totally a different war for him cuz his army used horses only and all of his opponents were also on horseback so he was seeing this type of fight pattern for the first time and the height of porus was around 7 ft 4 inch and the average height of his soldiers was around 6ft 8 inch whereas height of Alexander was around 6ft and his army was around 5ft 11 inch And beyond all this, you tell me that such a barbaric warrior who can do anything to win would just leave the whole golden bird by the statement of this one king who was a ruler of small part of India , just leaving the dream which he saw to rule it, I don't think so that he'll go back to Massedonia with his huge army without moving further to win the golden bird by just one sentence of a King He was one of the greatest warrior I agree but a demonic human being

It is really sad that this movie was not sent to the Oscars as India's official entry because some Indians thought that it showed the British in bad light when in fact all that this movie did was show the true facts. The British are yet to send an official apology for all the wrong that they have done.

Nominated for the Orcars or not, the movie stands on its own as a powerful statement and narration of the unmitigated evil that is colonisation. Take a people and tell them they have a right over another people's blood, sweat and tears. To grant someone the power and the permission to steal the future of a people. To trample the "uncouth, ungodly unclean heathens" for "their own good". This movie, while excellent, is merely a representation of a single person's perspective of the situation at the time. It is a recollection of just one heart rending primal scream for justice and freedom. Very glad to see that finally someone had the gumption to stand up, put up for consumption by the millions, the unwashed, ugenteeled, un-appologetic history. @MaJeliv, Thanks for taking the time to watch the movie, and to share your thoughts on the same. It touches me to note its impact on you. You have once again brought to my conscious the universal truth, vasudhaiva kutumbukam. The world, is one family.

Yes Aditya, we are one family, and witnessing yet another moment in our history where we fail each other…breaks our hearts but not our spirit. This film captures a much need perspective in order to become a more compassionate people. How rich is this world with beautiful people from all corners of the earth, we should aim to elevate each other always AFTER willing the good for the other for the sake of the other. Respecting where “the other” comes from and exists, is primary to human connection. These ideals seem far fetched it but God knows we must live out trying our best.

This is just 1 part of British history.....my mother used to tellme stories about jalliawallh bagh .....vicky kaushal deserve every single award for his incredible acting and his painful eyes ...and we will remember sardar udham forever.. the main thing is.he carried this pain for 25 -26 years and don't forgot ....

For all of the Indian soldiers who served (over two and a half million, including my grandfather and great uncles) and died for the British flag during WWI and WWII, there is not a single monument in their honor anywhere in Great Britain. There are however monuments to dogs and mules that were used in those wars.

Whenever I recall the jallianvala bagh massacre, as an Indian u guys have no idea , it boils my blood !! Even inocent children were not spared and shot dead brutally. It was generel Dyer who gave the open fire orders on the peaceful gathering. Shooting unarmed men is the evidence Britishers were monsters in human form. The governor of Punjab back then was Michael o'dwyer who was severel years later shot dead by martyr sardar udham singh in London in the Caxton hall after delivering a speech. My respect to all immortal martyrs who fought for India's Independence, there contribution can never be payed back 🙏🙏 Jai hind Har Har mahadev Jai shri ram Hare Krishna Jai bajrangbali Vahe guru ki jay 🙏🙏

The massacre was done on today of Baishakhi- an important day of Sikh festival. It is the solar new year and also spring harvest festival of Punjab (state where it happen). It's kinda like a massacre on Christmas Eve.

I always believe Indian wealth and knowledge were looted from these Britishers , they really did lot damage by creating conflicts between religions ....."still we are waiting for their apology" this line really made me cry at the end of the film ...if they had not taken away the wealth from India , India would be no 1 in the world in terms of technology and development ....

First thing that came up in my mind when I was reading this chapter in my history lesson was 'how can Indian soldiers shoot their own people?' If I were in their place I would have shot the official even if it led to my death, you know juvenile thinking but years later I learned that these soldiers were Afghan and Gurkha. British Raj were good at their divide and rule policy where they exploited past tensions between Afghans and Sikhs or Hindus and Muslims. They say history is always written by "winners" but perhaps incidents like these are too sinful to bury.

We have studied a page of JALLIANWALA BAGH MASSACRE in our childhood and we felt bad for it while reading it in our history books but this movie really tells you how brutal that was and how much more impactful it can be in someone's life.

The Director has said that he tried to present as much of the facts as he could. He did however make the deliberate decision to stray in one scene. He cut back by about 3 minutes the realty of the shooting scene. He thought it might be too much for the movie and the audience.

26:30 His best friend, Sardar Bhagat Singh, a hero, a freedom fighter, a revolutionary, also was hanged to death, because he threw a smoke bomb in a British building. British were so afraid of the revolt that would happen at his death that they hanged him and 2 other revolutionaries in secrecy the night before the morning the hanging had to happen.

The bullet holes and the blood stains was there on the walls for a long time uptill recently when it was renovated few years back to symbolise that we as a country have moved on. But the truth is that no one can ever move on from the fact like this. It's painful even to watch a 3 hour movie we can only try to imagine what Udham Singh went through that night and the upcoming years until he was hanged. I'm grateful for Udham Singh and our ancestors and freedom fighters like him. I'm grateful for them that I have the freedom. Thank you so much for doing this. I watched this movie with my family during the climax everyone was silent having tears in the eye . It was first time that my family didn't talk or gave there opinion about the movie after the end of the movie we just sat quietly on our couches and remembered our freedom fighters

I am so happy that I discovered the Majeliv family. I was not a subscriber until I came across this video of yours. THANK YOU for accepting this movie as your own. I am very sure your kids going through something of this sort in your own city would have made a cause of their youth to find and bring justice of an episode that harmed their city. Your tears were nothing short of a sword and I appreciate your empathy. Also its Shaheed Uddham Singh and not just Uddham Singh. Shaheed stands for Martyr here.He deserves respect. Bless your family.

This is just one of those 100+ massacres committed by the British Empire in India. 45 Trillion dollars was looted in 200 years and more than 35 million people were killed by the British. We may forgive, but we will NEVER FORGET! 🙏

now the jallianwala bagh has changed alot now but still there are parts of walls and the well that are kept untouched and you can still see the bullet marks on the walls, you can search it on google there are many images showing the bullet marks.

My great great grand uncle lost his life in this tragic event and the most disturbing thing is that even most of the indians don't know about this, they just know there was massacre but no one knows how terrifying it was and still it haunts many people in amritsar because many people lost their loved ones.

That's purely true reaction. You guys have made me cry, even reminded me of massacre happened in 1948 known as "Babara massacre" in Pakistan. More than 600 individuals had been killed by the Pakistani force straightly as this massacre happened. Thank you guys for your overwhelming reaction. It just blown me

Irony is you talk about massacre in Pakistan and yet Pakistani army massacred millions of Bengali people in the 1971 war and raper our women. And yet the Pakistanis and their government never apologized. They don’t even accept that any such genocide happened in the first place. I guess people will be hypocrites as long as they are not in side of the oppressed. Just as the British are proud of their massacre and colonial history on the entire Indian Subcontinent, Pakistan also is proud and denies their mass genocide, rape and war crimes on Bangladesh in the 1971 war.

Jallian wala bagh incident was widespread catalyst for anti british surge whole across India for the sole reason that a peaceful and communal protest was being held with almost half the total attending consisting of mainly women and young children . British official fking Dwyer ordered his soldiers consisting of Indian soldiers along with British ones to kill their own people who couldn't even defend . Indian soldiers were either bribed or were compulsed by family threats and all to do this attrocity . Secret documents suggest many soldiers (killing party) felt so sick and ill after this incident and when the news became nation wide , the either commited death, started looting officials , freed many captived freedom fighters .

Jalianwala Bagh was just one of the many events. The world needs to know. Gandhi was just a very little part in Indian independence and probably the most unimportant, unimpacted part of our independence. I just hope they make more movies like this so that the world knows what the British really did to us. And where we really come from.

Sikhs as a community have seen much more massacres and genocides, being a sikh i would the Jallianwala Massacre was one with least casualties. Sikhs have always been a strong opposition to the governments, as they are always the first ones to speak against wrong. Due to bravery, their both loved and hated at the same time, cause if governments need good soldiers, they see Sikhs, and when they check who are opposing their wrong deeds the most, they see Sikhs. The most recent genocide happened in 1984 and continued till 1993 in India under the current Indian government.
