Today I make a feature ring with a chevron design.
Using Lamination Pro makes it very easy.
Check out my video on Woodturner Pro
For those of you who have asked my angle is doing much better
Had the follow up visit last week and things are going good.
But still a little over 3 weeks and maybe I will be able to stand on it.

Hi Gary, glad that you are doing well and that you’ll be able to stand & put weight on it in 3 weeks. Should go by quickly… Thanks for the demonstration of Lamination Pro. It looks very intuitive. I really like how it can show the changes in design as you make them. Look forward to your next installment of knowledge.

Thank you very much Skip. Doing ok but I have to admit I am going a bit stir crazy. But I got a new form of transportation. I use a walker to do some thing in the house but mostly a little 6 wheeled stool. The hard thing is outside. The walker is hard on my shoulder that gave me trouble last year. So i bought a knee scooter. Wow so much easier. Once I was able to get the boot on instead of the splint/cast I figured I would try getting back to church. I miss playing my guitar in the choir. Today was first time with the scooter and it was great!!! I have been working on the second generation for Lamination Pro. I spent a few hours drawing parts in my CAD program so will be able to show what is really happening. I think it will make things much easier. Thanks for watching, Gary

@@ThePapa1947 in 2022 I was laid up Jan to April with rotator cuff surgery and recovery. I am still working and for a few hours the break was nice but all the rest really sucked. I just found you and Phil on KZfaq and got my son to take me out and I bought a small old cheap lathe and add another to my pile of hobbies that I am not very good at. You have been quite a blessing to me with your always always always interesting projects. Thank you

Thank you for your kind words Barry. That was a long time for you to be laid up. I feel like I could get back turning now but won't till I get the ok. Even though my ankle is not hurting I fear putting weight on it just trying to get up and use a walker. I do not trust crotches. Hope you are enjoying your lathe. Gary

Thanks for sharing Gary. I’m definitely buying this software. I’m concerned a little as I’m not very computer savvy. The good thing is I understand how to make some feature rings just by drawing them out. I think this would expand my wood turning projects. Thanks again for sharing.

Thank you Charles. Most everything we do can be done with pencil and paper. What I like about this is you can make all the changes you want with a click of the mouse. I would go through a lot of erasers and paper making those changes. Not only that you get the dimensions needed and they will be exact. Everything I made at work as a wood patternmaker was drawn full sized with a pencil and paper. Just my 2 cents worth. Gary

Any time I get all full of myself from reading comments, I need only to watch one of your segment videos to humble myself. Thank you for this, Gary, I now feel dumb once again and can get on with my life. LOL! You must have been a great student. I know you learned a lot of this while working as a pattern maker, too. It is far beyond my comprehension. I just don't get it. No fault of yours, you are a great teacher, but my mind simply does not work like this. I can't comprehend all these steps. I never thought about it but, that's probably why I turn the pieces I do. Not a lot of thoughts to process. Just mount it and go! Great job, my friend! I'm glad you have something like this to keep you busy while you heal. And I know your smarter than me viewers are getting a lot out of your tutelage. I must say, I'll sure be glad when you can get back in the shop and I can enjoy your turning videos once again! 😊 Phil

Well thank you Phil. In grade school I was good in math and wood shop. Not all that good in the rest of them for sure. I was good in the shop and drafting classes because I really liked them. Everything else I am kind of dumb LOL. You my friend are great with everything you choose to do. By far and I know everyone will agree the most relaxed and easiest to watch wood turner around. I will be happy to trade a few geometry problems for some of that LOL Ser Seriously I truly believe that we can be good at what we love. I just wish I loved to just sit around and wish I could be in the shop 😫😢😉 I will know in 3 weeks if they will let me stand on that foot. Meanwhile I have stopped feeling sorry for myself with all the tragedy that this storm has caused people. Thanks my friend, Gary

Hi Greg, the one I use most is Woodturner Pro. I also use Lamination Pro. I bought the package which is reduced a lot. I would recommend Woodturner Pro and Lamination Pro. The 3D Design should come free with Woodturner Pro. Segment Pro is easy and comes with lots of free designs. I feel I have more control using Woodturner Pro. My self I would get them all. Seems like a good savings. Hope this helps.
