***EDIT: Be sure to use the opposite side of the Rhombus template when cutting your triangles. Jenny accidentally uses the wrong side in her demonstration during this tutorial.
Jenny Doan demonstrates how to make a beautiful Rhombus Star using the 10" Rhombus Template by MSQC and 12 Fat Quarters. We used an "Abundant Blessings" Fat Quarter Bundle by Kim Diehl for Henry Glass.

Ok, first let me say Mrs. Jenny, I love your tutorials, you're Awesome!! But I cut out 196 triangles that were incorrect. I cut them out, I made the mistake, I went back and rechecked the tutorial.. It finally clicked in my brain at the dinner table, the light went on and darn it I cut them incorrectly. I haven't been quilting very long, but I learned a very valuable lesson today. Make one NEW square, make sure you fully understand what you think you are doing. Thank you so much for all you do for the quilting world, thank you for helping me do this thing I have fallen in love with "Quilting". I always think of my Grandma, I know she is looking down from Heaven and smiling at me. Thank you for all your inspiration every Friday! No matter what others say, I made the mistake and I learned a valuable lesson. 😉❤ You are a Sweetheart!

The rhombus has clear markings for cutting etc. I always make a single block before cutting all of the fabric. I have made expensive errors in the past because I dove straight in and didn't take the time to double check. Jenny, thanks heaps for your tutorials. They not only help to keep me busy they also help keep me sane. Please don't stop!

Tip to get your seams to nest (see if I can put it into words that make sense) We're used to ironing to the darkside, but that won't make the seams nest for this design. When you first attach your triangles to the rhombus, iron ALL seams either to the right or to the left. This means that one will be to the dark, and one will be to the light. When you make your half star, continue ironing the same way, all left or all right, as you did before. Once you start sewing your half stars into strips, that is where you will have to start alternating row seams going left and right- but all the other seams in the star should nest. Not sure if that makes sense

I was fascinated by this block and template (ruler) but I didn't have the ruler. However I do a diamond shaped ruler. Because I didn't pay attention in math class I didn't know a rhombus is same as a diamond. Actually, if I were to be correct I would say a diamond is a mineral and a rhombus is a shape. After looking that up on good old KZfaq, I grabbed my diamond ruler and made the whole thing. And it turned out perfect!! I'm very proud of my star block made Jenny's way and intend to make many more. Thank you Jenny

Ya'll are correct. At 5:09 she places the triangles on the print, and they are too small. Then at 5:19, she says "I have some already started over here and switches the piles", those are larger light triangles, then at 5:33 you can see those light triangles fit exactly so they are larger. I don't have this template, but clearly there is a right and wrong side to cutting to get those triangles to match up.
