not clean, but its really nice to use in my opinion, I have used gnome for over a year (on a secondary machine) and 3 months on my main machine. I have used kde for 2 days (i upgraded to 42 alpha and can't downgrade without gdm breaking) and I am finding it really really good. I think its just better win 11

KDE Plasma is easily the most extensible desktop environment of 2022. It beats all versions of Mac and Windows simply by way of being able to replicate nearly all vital functions as well as other unique hacks which you could have only dreamed of a few years ago by default. _However,_ It still suffers from being a relatively new design. There are things which just work out of the box in Gnome, as with Mac and Windows, which either haven't yet been successfully implemented in KDE Plasma, or are unstable, and therefore still largely feel like "hacks of hacks". But if you accept that Linux is still last in line for all commercial consumer dev projects, which are not going to be willing to enable compatibility for you without the carrot of financial backing they chase with e.g. yuppie Apple consumers or Microsoft's full-privileged acquisition division, then you can appreciate that KDE _will_ let you connect all the major components of a modern operating system in the way which works best for the majority of people, with a little tweaking.

I tried this setup! It looks amazing, but there's some adjustments that I think it would fit the theme better... First, Using Show Desktop (win7) applet by Zren instead of "Default" Show Desktop will make the show desktop button looks very similar to windows' (small, thin, and transparent). 2nd, Shadow can be decreased to 30% so it isn't too dark (can be changed in lightly). 3rd, We can add more round to window using lightly shader settings (if u think its not enough rounded), just make sure to disable shadow if want to do so. Oh yeah, the taskbar icons is already looking much better than the one in video, probably cuz new update to the theme. I personally combine this setup with "Layan" theme for dark mode.

This is exactly what we need, kudos for making this. Windows is not only widely used, but also does a lot of things right in terms of UI/UX. The anti-Windows sentiment that is prevalent in the Linux community only works to push away newcomers. Whereas they need the opposite, namely to be eased into using Linux while taking the difficult step of learning to use a foreign OS. But yeah, luckily we have KDE and Valve/Proton to save the day for Linux.

Hi, Their is a KDE plasma global theme called se7en Aero, my mom didn't like the 'new' (I told here she had to upgrade when win7 went eol) windows 10/11 style so I set here up with linux, she is using kubuntu 20.04 with this theme, it's not perfect, but she really likes it...

I'm having an issue with the apps at the bottom in the dock. When one is running its not highlighted or showing as running. So when I have Firefox running but minimized and I'm in another app like steam and i want to switch back to Firefox, when I click on the Firefox icon, it just opens a brand new instance of Firefox on top of the one that's already running. Edit: Disregard, I'm an idiot. I had them set up as separate widgets instead of inside the "icon only task manager" widget.

Thanks for your video. It is nowadays a lot simpler with installing a global theme for W11 graphically or by a simple install script. It will do pretty much everything for you. Kvantum is easier to use for transparency. Almost no need for the command line.

Hey, thanks for the video. I get to 7.03 on the video and no matter what I try, I get an error on the cmake command. It says - Could not find a configuration file for package "ECM" that is compatible with requested version 5.78.0 - Any ideas? Thanks

It's ridiculous and frustrating having to deal with this many settings, but the capability is impressive. If there was an option of have a simler version of pre-configured KDE it would be great, something like zorin look changer for the setup. And somthing like the windows 11 for the menus with simple basic menus were the last optios is so more, for the sea of options to use 0.5% of the time.

LS, Using Manjaro KDE 21.1 an issue... and a Question, The "Properties Window" is where I "edit" an icon to match the "incomplete set" I'm using, in this case my "go to" ... Sardi Ghost Archway, Manjaro won't let me save my edit... any thoughts? This never happened before. I've searched YT & ARCH forum for a solution, I'm waiting for a clue. Thank's Phillip

Is there any plugin to make floating applet and pop-ups like gnome did? The only thing I found is a fork that still needs to be accepted by KDE devs. I feel the floating windows really makes the environment look a lot cleaner and modern.
