Making A Detail Carving Tool

The Small Workshop

I got these three rods of HSS at the flea market, leftovers from a long gone industry. I could not find others for sale, not even online, so I decided to make the most out of them by sharpening at both ends, so I can get more tool profiles this way.
This required a handle that allows for easy flip of the tool, so I'm making one in this video. It also allows for the tool length to be adjusted, so the chisels can be long like those used on the lathe or short, for engraving. I also added a brass end cap so I can tap it with a hammer when engraving metal.

And that my friends is how you make and present a perfect video. No jibber jabber, no BS, no horrible music and didn’t put himself up front for attention or air time, just produce a beautiful piece of art that is functional. Well done, thank you sir, i want to see more. Am now a sub.

its a pleasure watching you work - i like the way you freehand the lathe - i never saw anyone turn metal same as wood is turned - it sure works faster for the parts that dont need to be totally precise - great job
