In this video, I will show you how to build a fully functional kayak using spruce/fir branches and a tarp or plastic wrap. I will show you how to properly bend branches into the frame ribs and properly wrap the tarp around the hull so it is crease-free. I will also show where you can find material for strong and light stringers in the woods. If necessary you can use the same tarp to make a canopy. I should add that the PET polymer tape, I made using my bottle cutter, and the homemade grommets came in handy for both projects.
If you liked this video about my kayak I recommend a similar video about Felix's survival kayak here: goo.gl/wWGKQc

Usury is against my religion so without a bank account or credit card I can't utilize patreon. If you had an online store I would be happy to order something like your PET cord maker or a simplified wire clamp tool, with a pre paid card. I doubt I could afford an axe or knife but if I could I would definitely buy one of those too. Even a polymer kayak kit if it could be shipped to the US. Your could offer your artisanal tools and goods on Etsy or eBay, just a thought. Thanks again 😊

I've built survival rafts with two very cheap tarps as skins - if one makes the first reasonably tightly wrapped over the frame, then the second one loose, then if there is a puncture, even whilst on the water one can pull the outer fabric so that the holes are no longer aligned. The water pressure, even at those few centimetres of depth, keeps the tarps tightly together, so that there is no noticeable leak at all.

Sir. Thank you very much for this video. I love to fish and have been wanting something lightweight and cheap that I can take out on the water. The problem is that I live in the desert, so there are very few water sources near by. This means that any type of boat that is for sale is very expensive. I have been thinking about making a small folding catamaran with cloth skinned pontoons for quite some time. This video helped me figure out how I'm going to attempt my first build.
