It's all about simple, easy making compost at home an a continuous basis or cycle. This also includes adding to the homemade liquid fertilizer using green manure to be able to feed the organic plants in the back to eden or wood chip garden. We also get a little peek at a leaf mould compost for future soil block making or plant start soil mix for the next season. It's a beautiful natural system that is on going maintenance to be more self sustainable and prepared growing food for difficult times or everyday life. Today we are harvesting comfrey, lemon balm, sage, and cilantro as the organic green manure for easy beautiful compost and natural free fertilizer on the homestead.
May all your branches become full of fruit.

Love your experiments - so inspiring! I've been composting leaves for years and have found that they take FOREVER to decompose if the pile is not turned every few weeks. Even when chopped/shredded like you did, they just don't get enough water or oxygen to break down. So I do the work of turning and that does produce some lovely compost :)

I would highly encourage you to add living organisms to those leaves in the form of leaf mould or culturing some like we do in the natural farming JMS or Jadam microbial solution. I'm guessing you need those microscopic 'animals' in there to feed on those leaves. I say this because when we usually collect leaves then they are typically dry and void of moisture and why also we are able to shred them more easily. That means there isn't any microbial life in them or very little. No moisture---No life to do the decomposition of the leaves. My best guess is that you need to 're-populate' the pile or container of leaves. If you had a hundred boxes of pizza laying around and no hungry eaters then the pizza would just sit there and if you had just 3-4 hungry eaters then it will take a good amount of time for them to eat the pizza. Hope this helps. ;) Cheers!

@@3basketliving You're right, microbes makes a big difference. I added LAB, JMS & JFL to my pile and it broke down in no time.

Plus worms. Worms helped tremendously and put more microbes in with their castings.

Glad I’m not the only one that smells my compost 😂😂✌🏽 And when you said you were sorry for your language, I thought to myself.. no he’s not! 🤣 you sound like me! I’m glad you’ve started back on videos as #1-you make me realize I’m not the only one that talks about compost and homemade fertilizer wheneveri have a chance. #2-your information is great. I have Nigel Palmers book ‘ The Regenerative Grower’s guide to garden amendments’. It teaches you how to make fermented plant juices like the JADAM method. I’ve been making mullein syrup, nettle capsules and comfrey and plantain salves. I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Glad to see you back (have I mentioned that yet?!?!) Peace, brother.

I think if it were mine then I would want to try and keep the flies out of if but the maggots won't hut anything. If it's floating stuff on top then push it down from time to time into the liquid and the maggots will drown and decompose as well. If the fert is stinking too much then I would put some lactobacillus into the container and they will greatly reduce the smell not to mention insure that you have a healthier fertilizer in my opinion. Cheers!

The leaves in the trash cans didn't break down as fast as you wanted because they were missing a key component to composting. Air flow.

Greetings from 🇺🇸Ft Bragg, NC🇺🇸 Good to see your videos up again. Are you going to sell your comfrey starts?
@3basketliving
@3basketliving 2 жыл бұрын
Sorry i didn't see the question. I don't make it a habit of selling things I would rather give away to help someone else but I'm also not trying to form a business either and probably couldn't mail out items for folks to have them. You shouldn't have any issues finding this variety from somewhere better localized to you I'm guessing.

yesterday and today i was using my lawn mower to shred the leaves and pine needles i had sitting for two years (it took me two years to fix the lawnmower lol)...the leaves were not breaking down because they had a waxy coat...(material gather around my neighborhood) so I did one pile and i got one cubic yard..then jump into the second pile and found at the bottom gold. yes black gold...so happy...shredding the second pile as well and have 3 large totes full of leaves and scrap material that i will work on it this coming week...I also have a large tote with the liquid fertilizer...however i noticed no improvement on my plants..maybe i am putting too little... Question how many ounce per gallon of water do i need? I am using two ounces but i do not see a difference between using the liquid and doing a chemical fertilizer (grind into powder add epson salt and make it into water fertilizer)...love your videos so much info...thank you for sharing

It is way too hard for me to give you advise using your own inputs without being there and knowing the details. If what you are doing is giving you the same as good results of using your chemical fertilizer then it sounds like it's a success without the cost AND more organic. ;)

@@3basketliving Hello and thank you for replying my question, however i think i did not explain my self properly. I have a large container with the liquid organic fertilizer, for two years since i watched ur video i have been putting "food" to the water, which is dark green and at this point the smell is almost gone. I was using it on my plants but did not see any results vs the results that i see when i applied the chemical fertilizer (forced to do that to feed the plants), so maybe i am using too little..and I was using it once a month. I am afraid to burn all my plants (lol) so my question is how much of the green liquid i use in 5 gallons of water? thank you so much

I want to know what would happen if I mix Jadam organic leaves fertilizer with leave mold and mix it with the Jadam fish fertlizer with leave mold will that be the ultimate fertiizer??? Or should I not mix the two? I have so many different fruit tree leaves in my Jadam fertilizer liquid but I'm wondering if I should also add fish???? What should I do?
