This is about making HIGH quality compost at home and understanding the principles of the compost process for beginners and seasoned gardeners alike. To make the best compost in your system, we need to comprehend the microbes or micro organisms within the compost pile that have the final say so in producing the available nutrients and minerals as the needed organic plant food in the form of micro manure or compost tea. When we better understand what Is compost or compost manure and where it ultimately comes from then we can better care for the environment or conditions needed for the smallest living organisms in the soil food web cycle and care for them like we would for the larger mammals that start the composting process, for the most part. Treat the microbes as your other animals and help provide for them what they need so your garden plants get what they need.
May all your branches become full of fruit.

I like your approach: offering ideas to think about, rather than telling people what to think. That's also what I aim to do.

You helped me tremendously. I never used to pay any attention to the compost before. I thought that, what I was buying in bags was good enough. I been giving more attention to what really is happening in the garden. Thank you 🌹Carmen, Al’s better half 😉

The coffee ground analogy is a perfect way to describe what's happening if your contained compost gets wet..it washes out all of the good stuff and your left with dirt..my compost turns out pretty good too. It has that rich smell, not too wet, not too dry. I've done my own compost for about the last five or six years. I grew up watching my Grandad put plant material, sawdust, cow and chicken manure in the pile along with ALOT of grass clippings, leaves, garden plants at the end of the growing season. Anyway, you have very useful info on these videos, thanks

What an excellent presentation! I have composted for a long time and yet learned so much from you just now. I had the concept right, but never really thought about the details in this way. This explains why some of my composts didn't turn out so good. I know, water less or more etc..., but here is the why spelled out in an easy to understand manner. Very helpful! Well, now I'll have to go give all those little 'animals' some shelter! It's rainy season. :)

Right on Chad..... getting on here without a 'certificate' hanging on my wall and trying to share how I think of things in my simple mind always seems to draw the so called 'educated scientist' my way because I didn't use the verbiage they got programmed with in their $100,000 institutions.. Thanks for support. Cheers!

now days many people do not think nor figure out how things works..and they want things to work "yesterday"....so monkey sees monkey does and then wonder why things do not work. good compost takes time to develop... This year i moved all the compost and leaf mold that i let sit for year or more...now they are cooking under plastic to be used in a couple of months...and i collect lots of compost to re pot plants and use all over the place....and never give the piles water, nor turned them...just let nature doing their job...and it works.
