In this video, i will make a new press to my workshop.
It producess 20 tons force, its needed when bending thicker materials, or stamping shapes out from sheet metal.
Videos about making the bending tools, and a set of different stamping tools. Comes later.
Thank you for watching!

Wow, that was a masterclass in fabrication. 3 different weld processes, materials on a tight budget, quite impressive results!

Thank you very much. Sometimes collecting materials for the build, takes ten times longer than actual building. 🙂 But, that saves money.

I know, I have quite a collection myself! 😂 I especially like your method of using the bottle jack upside down, I will try that when I rebuild my press. I would really like to invent a way to drive a bottle jack with rotary motion from a drill. Perhaps with a mini gear pump

Beautiful design and craftsmanship! I have always imagined that one benefit of inverting the jack would be to spin down the piston screw extension in order to speed up setup time, instead of all that pumping!

Thanks mate. I wonder, should i make another press making video? With giveaway. I have some tooling that i made for my smaller press. I started to think that i could keep them in use... 🤔 Those ain't strong enough for 20 ton press / thick materials, but useful when making smaller parts.

@ Yes-but the magnetic drill press, the annular bits. That stuff is a step up from what mere mortals usually own. I'm going through your earlier videos for hints on your selection of tooling. It's impressive stuff. Greetings from Austin Texas

@@stevewuertz3598 Aah. Yep. The drill. That's the most expensive tool that i have. But i don't have any hand planes, chisels or that, i just have focused to metalworking. Magnetig drill really is a useful, if you found that you need it. As a drill press replacement, it doesn't work good at all. So, its not the first things to have That one costs about 1000$. Same than a decent ( but not the ones i would like to have ) tig or mig. But, yep. It seems that i choose tools little untypically.

How thick steel you can bend with 20 ton force?
3 жыл бұрын
@@zumbazumba1 It depends about the used radius and steel grade. Bigger radius allows to bend thicker steel. Also stainless steel requires more power than mild steel. I think 12mm x 50 flat is doable with quite small radius. 6mm x 300mm plate goes nicely. I haven't tried wider.

Congratulations nice project, I would be curious to know the total weight of the press, I would also ask you some measures of the various materials you used to make the press (even better if you have construction plans or a project quoted maximum) ......e I must say I am very tempted to reproduce it, with my modest skills and my modest equipment! I congratulate you again for the nice project, nice video.......continue like this! Greetings from Italy.

Hi there in millimetres what sort of sheet metal will I need for five ton press 💨
2 жыл бұрын
For a five ton press, you could change all measures smaller. Like the height of the top section. When in use, top section of the press is streched from the upper edge and shrinked from the lower. This "shrinkin " makes possible that lower edge collapses in or out ( makes a dimple ) If not supported or material isn't thick enough. Answer is that 2 pcs, 50mm wide u-channels in 3mm thickness is strong enough. If you use a plate, 3mm is thick enough, but then its better to make a bend or weld L profile to the sides of the lower edges. Idea is to deliver forces to the sides so that there's a straight pull, and eliminate possibility that top section changes its shape.

Kumiletku on painevoitelujärjestelmään tarkoitettu, joten kestää kyllä öljyn. Muutoin putki voi olla parempi vaihtoehto, etenkin silikoniletkut haurastuvat nopeasti.

Care for a little constructive criticism? Your scene captions go a little too fast. By the time I notice you included one for a shot, it's gone by the time I can read half of it. I say this as a native English speaker. I have to rewind and pause some of them to read the whole thing.
