What is your sheath process? Any favorite designs or techniques?
@nateand3
@nateand3 3 жыл бұрын
I've only made 3. One of which was a redo of one of the first two that I tweaked to make better and easier to draw my knife from it. They aren't near what you're putting out, but they work and I'm proud of them. I'm learning

I've enjoyed it too. You wouldn't think you'd have a think so much about the design, but if you don't you'll be redoing one like i had to. Lol I get frustrated with myself when i make something for the 1st time and it doesn't come out perfect. I have to remind myself that it's all part of learning

@@nateand3 true that for sure. I just ripped apart my first sheath a week or so ago because I wasn’t happy with it. I’m planning on redoing that one soon! 👍

Thanks Ed! The Brodbeck grinder is some top notch equipment and those guys work hard to improve their product and everyone makes mistakes, it’s how you overcome them that matters. I think knifemaking is 50% problem solving in itself. 👍

Nice job, Denis! They suit the two blades well. I love the design of the knife; what a gorgeous shape! I’ve only made 1 sheath, for my last knife, and I was pleased how it came out, but I did make 1 mistake, and that was slipping with the point of the burnishing tool, and it left a 3 inch score along the rear of the sheath. Fortunately I got most of it out. Great work, as ever! 🤜🏻💥🤛🏻

The sheaths look great! I really appreciate that you take the time to continue the tooling on the back of the sheaths as well. That is an attention to detail most people lack. What weight leather are you using?
@TyrellKnifeworks
@TyrellKnifeworks 3 жыл бұрын
I’m using 8-9 oz leather. I usually do more stamping over the entire sheath but I was keeping these a more more simple. Checkout my other sheath video and you’ll see what I mean. 👍. Thanks for watching!
