ALG products are supported and tested by some serious engineering. They are a top tier military supplier of specialized components. This spring is just one of unique items. Everyone who has tested it has said it is an improvement over factory. The improvement will vary with each make and model along with age and wear of the spring its replacing. The best way to describe it is ...the bolt just feels like its running smoother. Either way like what was stated try one and it's not going to break the bank.

The main reason to install a increased pressure recoil spring in a AK/AKM is because by nature the AK/AKM's are way overg assed and upon firing a round because of the over gas the bolt comes flying back extremely fast and hard and slams into your rear trunnion and over time it will beat your gun to death to the point the rivets will loosen over a great amount of shooting, If you look at the back of your receiver you'll see the marks where the bolt is slamming into it

@@TheGeekyNerd Yes sir, It will also in some cases reduce fealt recoil from slowing the bolt down slightly so it's not slamming the trunnion as hard, Another easy way of reducing recoil and slowing bolt carrier down is to cut a small groove on each side of the head of the piston, This allows some of the gas bypass the head of the piston/Doing the samething as if you were to install a adjustable KNS piston, Another thing I'll do is drill a .150 hole in the back of the piston to the center of the piston, Then I'll drill head of piston for a small 1/8thin NPT pipe plug, Then I'll drill little pipe plugs out starting with .045, .055, .065, .070 to let some of the Excess gas pressure through and around the head of the piston (Same concept as a Adjustable KNS adjustable gas piston), Start off with the .045 restrictor then keep going larger in orifice size until gun won't fully cycle the bolt carrier back, Then say if it doesn't cycle completely with say a .075, Drop down to a .060, Gun will fully cycle and recoil will be next to nothing, If you leave restictor completely out, Gun will not even recoil but bolt carrier won't move, I set both my .308 Vepr, .308 Saiga and 7.62x54R Vepr up like this with a .070 restrictor in each rifle and if I had to try and describe how light the recoil is, It's between shooting a 5.45x39 and a 7.62x39, Very low recoil and no hammering the trunnion

@metalicmario81062 жыл бұрын
Physics still apply here. Just remember the more force it takes to move the carrier back the more force it will send it home. If you are just getting this because of a worn out spring, fine. But if you're rifle is over gassed and you are worried about beating up the receiver, a much better option is the KNS adjustable gas system. You can set it to where the bolt head will just clear the mag to strip the next round. That is a true reduction in forces and greatly reduces recoil. Imagine your bolt carrier only going rearward halfway and going home with only half the force. You can try it out for yourself by shouldering the rifle and pulling the carrier back all the way and letting it go. Then do the same thing only pulling the carrier barely past the back of the mag. The other option is a recoil buffer. A buffer will also slightly increase your cyclic rate but offer no recoil reduction. You could of course put it all together (KNS, recoil buffer, new spring) and have all the benefits.
@sandozman60852 жыл бұрын
You have a cpl things i would debate here. First and mainly, dont use buffers on aks. I have been there and left. The buffer takes up the last space where the spring can continue to slow the travel of the carrier. The carrier will thump hard on the buffer and still work the rivets loose. The correct spring allows the carrier to slow and just touch the reciever, and still give the carrier the full run at the mag to strip rounds. I’ve debuffed two rifles and been pleasantly surprised. Secondly with the kns…. You can bypass enough gas to make them run like you suggested. Which is fine for a match or non combat rifle. But i would definitely not degass the weapon to that degree for any self defense tool. Happy shooting 👍

I don't understand why people mod the internals of their AK. It's fine how it is, it was designed to use those certain specs. Unless you want one for competition then that's a different reason. But if you want something to work just go to the range and shoot it.
@coltonmuri36722 жыл бұрын
Because a gun functions better when it is tuned for the ammunition you use. Factory guns are often overgassed and/or use heavy springs so that they will cycle a wide variety of bullet grains, powder amounts, and hard primers. If you want to shoot a certain brand of ammo or a certain bullet grain, improvements can be made to make the recoil impulse more appropriate for that ammo. If the bolt doesn't smack the rear of the gun so hard, you can reduce felt recoil and how much vertical rise there is. When you reduce recoil, follow up shots are faster. Also, hammer springs can be experimented with to improve trigger pull which will improve accuracy. This isn't just for competition shooters, you can become more efficient at using your self defense gun if you can improve recoil or accuracy and retain 100% reliability with your ammo.
@dbmail5452 жыл бұрын
No gun is perfect. A lot of AK's are overgassed for reliability. Running a suppressor exacerbates the problem. And guns wear out, improved FCG's come on the market and perhaps the use that is most important to you can be made better. You sound like someone afraid to work on your guns. Get educated. The AK is an easy platform to work on, even if it isn't as easy to assemble as an AR.
