That looks so authentic. I can't roll out the pastry evenly, so I use a pasta machine! And of course sardine curry puffs. Something you cannot get in OZ. Must try the air-fryer. Wonder how long it would take. Cheers JD

@Jeyadev Sreedharan...oh yumm..I remember eating sardine curry puffs too when I was young, but not that common to find in Penang. Guess I will have to make it myself. I didn’t have an air fryer..however, if you do..do share with me and my viewers what you did by using the air fryer. Cheers, Victor

You are welcome @Sue Keane…I remember the good old days..the street peddler called out “kari pok”. And in the street I grew up in George Town, we had street peddler selling “tok tok mee” (wanton mee), “kuih”, and the roti man. Cheers, Victor

@@suekeane thanks for sharing. Yellow rock cake? not sure what it is. Just googled. Is that the same as "rock cake"? looks like cookies.

I like this frying method which I learned so long ago from an aunt. Where can I see the recipe for the pastry?

Hi @Sueni Dasa..your comment “where can I see the recipe for the pastry?”. It is in this video, unless you’re asking for my curry puff fillings recipe, which is this kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pah4dbSrzb69Y4E.html. Cheers, Victor

Yes, indian curry pok is large n crispy...with shallots...i thought that is onions...here now has got many types fillings as black pepper chicken, the outer dough has got many layers...dough with oil and another without oil combine and it become layered....😊

@Grace Lee..thanks for sharing your insights. The Spanish red onions here are really big compare to the ones we get at the wet market in Penang, which are quite similar in size to the French shallots. But you’re right that the traditional ones used the red onions back there. Although I think the ones back there are milder in flavours and not as strong as the red onions here. Ah...the spiral puff is not traditional though..it has been modernised through time, but it does look pretty. Also it requires extra step and work 🤣 cheers, Victor

Adding meat, fish or chicken may reduce the shelf life of the curry puff.
