This is the band that set me on the path to being a rock musician. Mama's Boys played at my boarding school in Cavan in 1980 and they blew my mind. I'd never experienced the energy of a hard rock gig, and it changed my life. That was it; I decided halfway through that gig that I was going to do that.

I’ve always loved their version of the Slade classic, “Mama We’re All Crazy Now.”

What a band they were! Exceptional, and absolutely connected to their young audience. Personally, I loved 'Run', 'Runaway Dreams' and 'Gentlemen Rogues'.

Saw them opening for Hawkwind at Preston Guild Hall on 8 October 1981 on Hawkwind’s Sonic Attack tour. My first ‘proper’ rock gig. I was 15, and so was Tommy!! When I next saw them, they’d moved up in the world, to the Knebworth Fayre of 1985 when they were sandwiched between Bernie Marsden’s Alaska and Leslie West’s Mountain. The Professor more than held his own.

It's unfathomable that the record company pushed to replace John on vocals. This band needs a biopic (or the "STORY OF" similar to Anvil)

@@user-zq9by5wr8f Bad deals, poor management, bad advice.....The guys don't get any royalties or have any rights or access to any of their recordings....Pat the guitarist still gigs around Ireland, UK and Europe with his band.

The Mama’s Boys were one of the few “metal bands” signed to Arista record label. The other was Krokus. Arista was an R&B label.
