Man builds benches after noticing bus stops in his area don't have any

A man in Denver noticed a woman sitting in the dirt at a bus stop. So he decided to use his talents to build benches for bus stops that don't have them. He spoke to The Uplift about his mission to help his community.

It is truly tragic that no-one saw the need until he did something first! The community clearly was ignoring the citizens who were using public transportation! Kudos to this good citizen- shame to those who allowed this to exist before he came along!

They took all the bus stop seat here in the city on purpose in the poor areas. I guess they didn’t want homeless people using them.

Thank-you! I always wanted to make bus shelters for the weather. I lived in an area that I used public transit for three years. This is awesome and so inspiring! So happy to hear about the ripple effect. Unity is our now and our future. We are the ones we are waiting for. Every kind act effects the whole of humanity as in truth we are all One. So overjoyed to see this today!

Beautiful story!! God bless his heart for making an effort. Why can't all of us do things like this? We need to start thinking about others again. Me, me, me is what has gotten this country in such a terrible state as a community in whole. We need to look out for each other, like it used to be.

I was looking to build a bench for my local RTD stop and brought me here. Of the 9400 RTD stops, they only maintain 330. It’s sad it’s been left up to citizens who take transit to make these stops clean and safe.

Wait till the community he lives in FINES him for violating their ordinances. If they wanted benches there, they would put them their. Or if someone hurts themself on one of his benches and then tries to sue him. Good idea for being a good person, but, bad idea in terms of the reality of the world we live in.

DEMOCRATS will go after him. He didn't waste multiple millions of tax dollars for environmental impact studies and consultation fees for their friends and family. This won't be allowed for them.

You are correct.. we all must understand the exceptional moniker is a ideology that does not fit into the world we live in. America is not a special place until it does right by it's citizens and pays it's debt to the blacks and ceases the bombing of innocent civilians of the world. America has to tie up it's loose ends else she will fail and no one will escape the consequences of that. Least of all those who enjoy unearned privileges and unearned rights. America has to get some get right. When we do we will not hear sad stories like this and you won't have to tell the sad truth about them to the rest of us.

The point of the story is that he saw a need and was inspired to do something about it by offering a solution. If it violates ordinances, hopefully the city will be inspired to put up more bus shelters which would increase use of public transportation.
