"It all started, Greg Bombard said, with a broken coffee maker. That’s what prompted him to get into his car and head to Dunkin’ on a winter day in 2018.
It ended this month when the state of Vermont paid Bombard $175,000 to settle the lawsuit that ultimately resulted from that short drive.
The settlement covers Bombard’s arrest that day by a state trooper who said the St. Albans Town man flipped him the middle finger - and a second, related citation nearly six years later, on Christmas Day."*

The Young Turks are fearless in talking about the issues that matter. We are a rare show that combines all of the news that people care about in one place. We cover politics, entertainment, sports, and pop culture; all through a progressive lens.
What does it mean to be a “Young Turk?”
According to the American Heritage Dictionary;
1. Young progressive or insurgent member of an institution, movement, or political party.
2. Young person who rebels against authority or societal expectations.
"Sharp-witted, persuasive, and inspiring, calling out toxic Republicans, politely-ineffectual Democrats, and mealy-mouthed media mavens in equal measure, JUSTICE IS COMING will give heart to Democrats and progressives who seek to change our politics and society for the better.
The media can’t stop talking about the gridlock in Washington, as if a handful of stubborn Republicans are the only thing standing between us and a fully-functional democracy. The reality is that our government has been taken over by big business and their allies in both political parties. The getaway driver in this heist was corporate media. The good news is that the American people are very progressive. And soon progressives will take over Washington as well! And when they do, the great majority of Americans will love it.
In JUSTICE IS COMING: How Progressives Are Going to Take Over the Country and America Is Going to Love It (On sale: September 19, 2023), The Young Turks founder Cenk Uygur presents two ideas that counter everything we hear from pundits and politicians on a daily basis: one, progressives are correct on all issues, and two, America is actually a very progressive country. Millions of us know that we are a part of something larger, a movement that is already transforming Washington.
JUSTICE IS COMING, a compulsively readable manifesto, seeks to apply the momentum progressives have already built to a concrete progressive agenda that activists, voters, and citizens can all rally around. JUSTICE IS COMING looks beyond Trump to the larger historical forces that have given us this unique political moment, and explains why we should fight, how we should fight, and how we will win."

I laughed at a cop who gave us a ticket for traffic impediment, which he spelled 'Impendantment'. I was 9 years old. Keep in mind it was 2am and it was very foggy and not a damn car on the road so. 😂 Driving while brown. My other story about cops is much sadder, Central Park 5 style. Went 80k in debt getting a good lawyer when I was 14 to settle because they had coerced testimonies from kids whom they threatened. I was supposedly Tony Soprano and conspiring the crime since I was not there. Now I help people wrongly convicted in any way I can.

I remember once driving home after work and I drove by a house party. I turned onto my street which was only about 4 homes long a dead end I was going about 12 mph. Next thing I know a police officer is shining a flashlight in my face yelling at me to get out of the car as I pull into my parents driveway. What happened was this house party someone reported it to the police they parked down the street were walking up the center of the street. He assumed I was from that house party I tried to explain all he could do is go on and on how I tried to run him over. I said why are you walking down the middle of the street in a black uniform with no light on. He wrote me a ticket for going 55 mph in a residential neighborhood. It wasn't even possible to go that fast I fought the ticket judge said the police officer word is greater then my word against him. I had 3 witnesses, video, and a diagram it wasn't even possible to drive that fast. Yeah in those days cops got away with murder.

Only in the USA. Over here, in Belgium, the slogan is "the police, your friend, your helper" (in Dutch "police" is seen as a group, hence singular). I was in a park with my young children once, in this Middle Ages thing with tents and people dressed up and such. I walk up to a duo of cops and say: "your uniforms don't fit in this setting". They just laughed. My kids were shocked and I'm pretty sure the cops heard me tell them: "See, there's nothing to be scared of, they're just human too. The police, your friend, your helper." Same thing after the attack in Brussels. There were military officers patrolling the mall. My youngest was 9 and when we left a store she was startled by the presence of a duo of military officers. I told my kid: "She's not going to bite, you know, she's here to protect us." After which the female officer pretended to claw and take a bite out of my child. That made my child laugh and the next time we came across that same duo, we all said hello to each other. I'm a brown woman with a white, blond and blue-eyed eldest child and two slightly tanned, brown-haired and brown-eyed kids. I honestly would not feel safe in the US these days least of all behaving like I did in the park or in the mall. Over here, if a cop pulls a gun (even without firing it) there is a whole investigation as to whether that was necessary. In the US, I'd be dead already.

One time, walking past a meter cop, I laughed evil, aloud, "mwa-hahahaha." I figured, I don't have a car, he has no power over me. Unless I was hearing things, he did say, hey, when I was about 50 yards away. I kept walking.

In Chehalis Washington, a cop pulled us over after we sat at a stop sign and had a little long talk just resting at the stop sign about 12 at night. Then we took off then did a U-turn, in front of a cop. The cop pulled us over and said"You went threw the stop sign, without stopping". My friend who was driving was actually falling for it, not remembering his stop. I said "Excuse me officer, but you know as well as I know that we stop at the stop sign. You pulled us over because we did a U-turn in front of you. Those BOYS lie all the time.

Pretty sure in WA U turns are only illegal if there is a sign posted saying so, otherwise it's legal as long as you do it safely.

@@sartori69 It was legal. He really had no reason to pull us over. Cops with extremist beliefs do that. Hoping to get an arrest to improve an extremist motive of so-called advancements.

3:45 ah Cenk bless your heart! I lost all faith and trust in police at 5yo. Sitting on the sidewalk with 3 of my black friends, a cop rolled up and threw fast food trash at us and called us garbage. Four 5yo girls, just playing outside or houses. That was just my first interaction with police. It only got worse from there. Not so much for me, but for my friends. When we'd get pulled over, They'd sit me off to the side and my friends would get yelled at and roughed up (in the better situations). Fuck Minneapolis police. I said it 🤷🏽‍♀️
