TheAgentOfTheSystem I don’t know if you are joking or not, but assuming you’re serious, I agree. 1) The late 90s vibe bled into the early 00s, even if it wasn’t chronologically the 90s anymore. 2) Something changed for the worst on September 11, 2001. The victims of the attacks obviously, but even music, movies etc. weren’t as good. America, and the rest of the world, has never been the same since. Even though the WTC was attacked only 8 years before in 1993, it was nothing compared to 2001.

I was serious. 9/11 was a complete shift in tone for the united states, maybe it's because i'm a bit older or being a military brat, or nostalgia googles or some combination of the 3 but i feel as if if you looked at 2000 and most of 01 things culturally really didnt change all that much and didnt become differentiated from the 90's and arguably the late 80's until 9/11. Ill give you an example, in the film Matrix theres a scene where Neo the protagonist and another character break into a building and shoot innocent police officers and guards just doing their job and this is portrayed as anything but villainous. That scene would not likely be made today much like how the WTC would not be prevalent in films based in late 20th century NY because of the social tone at the time.

TheAgentOfTheSystem I totally agree! Even with the part about the late 80s. 2001 was more of the same (a good thing to me) before 9/11. I also double check to see if it’s not just my nostalgia goggles clouding my judgment. But American culture really got shocked, shook up, and scared after 9/11. Understandably so, but clear channel radio was going on a witch hunt to ban anything that could be remotely taken as terrorism, even Dave Matthews Band - “Crash Into Me”. Has America recovered since then? I was only 16 when the attacks happened, in Junior year of high school at the end of band class when I first heard about it.

I feel like theres such an innocence and vulnerability in Mandy's songs. Her voice is soothing and has helped me with my anxiety and depression throughout the years. A Walk to Remember has and always will be one of my favorite childhood movies. ❤️

Lagu saat keluarga gue hidup susah saat itu. Dan aku bertekad bulat merubah kehidupan keluargaku. aku maksa kuliah, aku cari beasiswa ke dompetdhuafa, bank BTN di thamrin dsb, alhamdulillah bisa buat uang pangkal masuk ke universitas negeri jurusan Exacta, sambil kuliah aku jual apa aja plus ngajar anak SMA agar bisa bertahan, urat malu udah ilang, lihat kehidupan Hedon temanku aku ga bisa seperti mereka dilahirkan dalam keadaan berada.. Tak ada perjuangan itu yg sia-sia. Man jadda wajjada ( itulah mottoku, terinspirasi dari film tsb, Barang siapa yg bersungguh-sungguh maka dia akan berhasil ).. Alhamdulillah skrg aku bisa merubah kehidupan keluarga, aku jadi kepala departemen di perusahaan jepang, sampai saat ini aku masih ga percaya aku ada di level ini.. Terimakasih ya Alloh,

sept/17/22 here, I'm still in love with Mandy. She is the Epitome of my dream girl. So much hope, and promise of everlasting joy in her voice. Its like she exudes those things and its almost as if you can almost grasp them and hold them to your breast, like a the soft orange glow of a rising Harvest Moon seems so close you can almost touch it.

@@jeremywilkinson9475 I saw an interview of Mandy few years ago think the interview was filmed about 1999, anyway in one part of the 10 minute interview Mandy asked if she influenced by the negative satanic influnces of the music industry, her reaction was subtle bt clear, she was appraoched by offered large sums of money bt she refused. She went on to mention its why he worked extra hard to get where she is, I tried to find that interview on youtube bt I not find, still might be on youtube I didn't look at every one, beautiful as she is 😁

One of everlasting song, ever. Her voice is like the 🌊 waves in the 🪸 beautiful ocean. So delicate, creamy, zesty, unique and powerful all the same time. None of pop princess even nowadays would sound alike... She just come at right time and I am glad she still survive in this gruesome industry for decades till now

90s. Ahhh what a magical era. Still remember that boy from college who i have a big crush with as soon as I laid my eyes in him. Im a freshman and hes my classmate in one of my class in nursing. Hes a sophomore. 20 years later, hes my husband now, we both nurses here in California with 2 beautiful kids. Life is good. ❤️❤️❤️
