There does seem to be some sort of safety mechanism. Look at the bottom left at 0:47. Also, in the middle below the blue box, there’s a rod with a spring round it. (Probably a brake) There might be a governor in the pit, and the cable at the bottom left goes down to the pit, around the governor, and back up to the bottom of the counterweight. The lift does look a bit rubbish though lol! The music is quite strange.

Looking at it a bit more, I don’t think It does have a governor actually. I think the mechanism I can see is to do with the cables breaking, although I’m not sure. I do know that some lifts in the UK don’t have governors though. I’ve been in the motor room of an old Express lift which didn’t have a governor. It only had protection against the cables breaking.

What is even more scary that they cut a U beam at the sides so the cable fits 1:03 . This is extremely dangerous as it manipulates the vertical force that can be put on the beam!

All of that and if you thought it could not get any worse than at 0:43 you can clearly see that there are only 2 steel cables and elevators are supposed to have at least 4.

Also Motor Sound is a joke. It’s so terrible sounding compared to a Schindler M-Series motor and even a Swiss Generic elevator have better sounding modern geared motor than this

@@whirlpool_addict_ what are you talking about even a one story lift fall will make you go to hospital. I am so happy where I come from (Germany) every lift even if it only goes up 0.1 Meters is required to have a governor this is how it should be!

It's not an MRL but a geared traction I am not up to date with the standard/codes just by looking at the installation looks pretty bad with the machine beams attached to the walls of the hoist way. I doubt an elevator tech could even work on it safely.

@@TheTheo58 believe it or not there are geared MRL traction that used on Schindler Smart MRL and Orona Wormdrive

@@alpzepta Well, I'll be darn very interesting, since there is just the small access to the controller and machine, it would fall under MRL installation. Never seen an MRL mounted above the hoist way, most are anchored to the supporting frame on the side.
