Thanks for the video, I need to replace the impeller on my generator. It’s the same model as yours. How do you go about doing that, do you remove the pump to replace the impeller? Any feedback would help? Thanks, Tony.

Saudacoes. Awesome job! I wish my boat was bit enough (Bayliner 2655) to have a generator on it. As for generator switch, have you considered installing a remote control switch?

Just wired the remote switch 😄 wow now that is done it seams such pain to have to open the hatch to turn it on or off lol

Mine stopped and had oil shoot out of cylinder thru plug ? I took plug out and it shot out? Any ideas

How so my friend? I’m curious on your point of view, considering that it is a Marine Generator that has been working for 30 years. I wonder what makes you think that he would go south

@@Cruisingthesouth well the most obvious thing is a fuel tank venting down low in the bilge to start with , I would also bet that generator is not ignition protected , so once you add fuel into a bilge and spark things go bang

@@richardkaye2228 oh, OK I get it but that tank was only there for initial installation. The generator is hooked to the main fuel tanks of the boat, that red jug was just so I could get the generator going, but it runs out of the main fuel tanks of the boat now. But thank you for the input anyways my friend, one thing about this generator though is that it has safety shut off’s all over the place, that thing loves shutting itself off if there’s anything even a little off . 😅

@@Cruisingthesouth much safer now then with no fuel tank down below , is that an air cleaner on top some body has added or is that a flash back arrestor to stop spark exiting if engine misfires

What size gen set is it, and what is your boat size? I have a Wellcraft Coastal 270 with a area for a gen set, except that there is not a lot of information on what size gen will fit?

Hello my friend thank you for watching 😉👍 my boat is a 33 Foot express cruiser and my generator is a onan MCCK 4000kw, on my opinion a 3000 kW usually cover most of the setups up to the 33‘s! For example the 4000 is plenty power for me and I think even a 3000 would do it and I have a 16,000 BYU AC, fridge stove and crazy sound system and it keeps up just fine. But with the 3000 even the 4000 I would always turn off the main running thing before running another, like I would turn off the AC prior using the microwave and etc.

I appreciate your reply, I running a coastal 270, and it appears as though it was plumbed and wired for a gen, but I had no idea what size. I’ve run my small honda gen on it, and although it is enough to run the AC, it could only do just that, one at a time! Do you have photos of your setup, as to where and how it sits in your boat? I would love to get an idea if the 4000 would fit, or would I have to reduce to the 3000.

@@Cruisingthesouth Thank you, I would love to make the crossing this year, or even make a run to the Tortugas, but you know as well as I do, Florida is hot as balls, and I want to stay on board my boat with the AC, , Fridge and stove available, and eat only from the ocean.

For sure man with a working genny it is a complete different experience 🙏 I want to do a crossing very soon too I’ve been itching for it. I just want to buy a extra water pump and fuel pump and little things like that but I want to do it! what is your cruising speed let’s say for a long voyage?

Hello my friend thank you for watching the video! Man on my opinion just start from the beginning, before taking everything apart take a compression test of the cylinders that will give you a good idea if you need to worry about valves and etc. if the compression is good it’s probably points or condenser or even bad relays but without knowing the compression status you can be chasing your tail for a while. Let us know what you find please!
