It’s been revealed that he got hit in the thigh and the bullet exited from his foot. His entire leg was destroyed.

@@janbo8331 as an ex-ER doc i can confirm this. Even in the medical ER textbook under the military trauma section it says basically the same thing. There is a logic behind it: if patient is critically wounded they might not be able to localize and vocalize the pain due to low blood pressure, not being able to breathe, shock etc. If the patient is screaming you know they are hurt but able to register it. I had a soldier struck by an IED who lost his foot. At first he was out confused calm.but when we stabilized him he registered the pain and than the screaming begun. (we are not heartless we took care of the pain too) Lost the foot but still alive. Always carry and know how to use a tourniquet. Even in civilian life it can save you or someone. I have one in my car.

I hope those experiences of the few non military American's being referenced don't sour your or other people's view of us (America). I am not in the military but I know that Americans who do have prior military experience wouldn't have done something so thoughtless and stupid and get someone killed just because "fuck that guy". 8:42 Yeah as far as I know there was security on both sides. The enemy was ~ 300 hundred meters away and there was open field and a small river in between. They were setting up the Kord into a position where it could cover both roads leading into the village. It is not a great position, but I think the main concern was that it could cover as wide area as possible as the others would have had to advance through what could be best described as an open field. Compared to that it is a pretty good position. When they spotted the BMP-2 and the firefight broke out, the others were still behind the houses, but of course they joined in as soon as they could.

That took me by surprise once. I was doing some ground work for a Finnish couple who'd hired my friend who's also Finnish and he'd brought me along to help out. They were talking and the old guy was pointing at me and the work I'd done and it sounded like he was slating the shit out of me or my work. 😂 After he'd gone back inside my mate was like "they're really impressed with the paving. He was calm which is really nice but you can see the stress while he was trying to open the wall. It seems to me that he did not think too straight in that situation and that is understandable. But that stella how the situation affects peoples judgement.

I'm completely different. I cannot say I would be like him, but whenever there is a small disaster, like what you mention, my first thing is to spring into action, think, coordinate and command and keep everybody else calm. That's why he would have chosen to go to the warzone. Because he knows he's got the nerves to cope with it. However, it does not mean that your skills would not be needed in a war time. An organisation functions well when the right people are at the right tasks. You can be great at logistics organisation or meal delivery etc. All functions supporting the front line are an essential to any war effort, which is why American generals say that when the knownothings talk about war they talk about tactics. Generals talk about logistics.

I don't think he was trying to contain his feelings. They were securely locked in a safe while he did what needed to be done. Brilliant display of professionalism. Language influences psychology.

It is not ideal position in this situation. However, the apparently idea was to setup the machine gun into a position where it could have covered both roads leading into the settlement as the others would have had to advance through the open terrain. In that case the position would have been pretty decent as the enemy would have had other priorities if there had been contact. While it did not offer much in terms of hard cover, at least there was some concealment. The terrain in Ukraine is pretty terrible from infantryman's point of view. The BMP-2 showing up just changed everything completely. The video actually starts when the firefight has been going on 2 - 3 minutes or so. The full chain of events, according to interviews, went something like this: - The person engaged the BMP-2 - After two rounds the Kord jammed - Russians started firing towards that puny patch of forest - The person managed to clear the malfunction under fire and starts firing towards the BMP-2 - BMP-2 pulls back - The person started engaging enemy infantry hiding behind a fence / building near the junction. Not sure if he managed to hit anyone, but if someone decided to hit the dirt behind the fence instead of immediately seeking better cover then it probably wasn't too fun for them as he shot an entire belt through it. - BMP-2 shows up again - The person gets wounded just when is about to finish his third belt

Stupid jokes like that is what keeps those guys sane. Also, he did care for his mate, he was constantly trying to find a way out for both of them. The thing is though, you as the uninjured one, should remain calm, or nonchalant as you put it, so not to cause additional stress for the injured one. The worst thing you could do in that situation is to show signs of panic. Shooting at the fence and the irritated shouting at the chickens revealed his stress too, but he was out of sight at that point.

As a Finn, agree....our voices hardly ever go that high, unless it's a birth defect....or if someone was "baby born that way"....

Well, the round went in from the top of his ankle (imagine him lying down in line to the fire) and came out from the bottom of his heel. So it was a 7.62mm right through the ankle joint, in line with his leg. That shit must've hurt like hell.

You don't really think about how incapacitating foot injuries are until you've had one. It doesn't take much at all to completely take away your mobility.

Yea, well it's always a bitch when your feet or legs get hurt, which ever way. I have a rare illness, that nearly paralyzed me, cause of unusual weakness at the spine. Anyhow, it had been causing episodes before too - but on that day of my emergency surgery - I had some hours before suddenly felt my right heel go numb and pretty much instantly felt like the entire lower body was lowered right into some boiling oil. I was able to walk to the bed, and then to the toilet in my flat with great effort - but that's where I fainted out of sheer pain. I don't think I have ever felt anything worse. I don't wonder why that guy was screaming, absolutely not, though I never been hurt the way he was.

The Kiev regime is actively using apartment blocks to make fortifications, and to fire ATGMs towards the advancing russian forces. The result is utter destruction of such infrastructure. It's terrible, but this is the result of the western backed Maidan coup in 2014, and the preceding war against so called terrorists in the east that did not agree to the overthrow of their government.
