her English isn't that slow, it's the normal pace for beginner. The machine translated sentences sounds like Senchou japanese. The words are clear pronounced but the speed is faster than average.
@jonp1952
@jonp1952 3 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same. Her speed when she knows what she's saying isn't too bad. When she hits a word she doesn't know is when she speaks much more slowly. The machine translated text was too fast for me personally, a native english speaker. I mean I could understand it, but it was much too fast for casual speak. Only someone who speaks 500 wpm would speak like that.
@atomicr4y472

How fast does the machine speak in words per second? For ads, a 30s ad should be 75 words at max, or about 2.5 words per second.
@obake6290
@obake6290 3 жыл бұрын
The TTS voice sounded pretty normal to me (Midwesterner) until I tried to say it myself. I still think the pace is fairly normal for most sentences, but "well received" specifically is awkward to say and I had to slow down for it. Probably part of why we don't actually say that.

You'll need to combine the immersion learning with other learning techniques, immersion only really serves to give you the opportunity to practice and hear more language than in other settings- if you aren't actively learning a language, immersion can actually be detrimental to language learning. @@azrielackerman4659 as a dip shit who's bilingual and slowly realizing how lacking i am in my mother tongue (Spanish) it makes it really fucking hard to speak to my extended family since they're primarily Spanish speakers. My reasoning for allowing my Spanish to essentially stagnate into a beginner level; I was 10 when I moved out of my original birth state. From there on, I slowly lost the need to really speak Spanish. Woops. Rusty as hell now, though still got some the lingo and random intricacies shoved in my head. So, a little dedication and i could probably survive a week in Mexico.
