This video covers my impressions of the Floatwheel ADV Pro, however the regular Floatwheel ADV should be more or less the same for all major considerations. It is a decent board, but one that has some flaws that need real attention. Currently, it can be seen as competition to the recent Future Motion flagship, the Onewheel GT S-Series (or GT-S).
Thank you to Tony at Floatwheel for sending this unit out, it is much appreciated.
Thank you to Maclak at www.av-wheel.com/ for helping with the photos for the BMS.

Hi Mario, thanks a lot for your review! one thing to mention is that LCM idle consumption is solved after order #2200+ now it takes 190 days to drain a full battery when sitting idle, and yep, we are working on solving all those issues mentioned and we will be replacing V1 customer's bms+esc combo at manufacturing cost(within 200$), we are also developing kits to allow people to reuse their v1 controller inside onewheel GT XR PINT PintX, as we speaking, the V2 bms is now being tested on my bench, all code side work is done, now the battery cell information displays on the vesc tool app as well, looking forward to another exciting year for this community!

@@MrDmadness Yes. It isn't really a great experience off road. There is no suspension and the slower you go, the less balance you have so it is more a road wheel with the ability to handle mild off roading. It is relatively low to the ground so even going over some speed bumps will scrape the bottom.

While I also, don't care for the 'thicker' feel of the GT style platform, there is a lot to like here. As for longevity for the early adopters, well, you can get parts. Currently I have two perfectly fine (FM)boards that need BMS's, and that pretty much bums me out every single time I think about it. I'll probably end up VESCing those boards, but it's a ridiculous situation. Thanks Mario, this was an excellent review, I rode my first one last week, and was delighted, though it is not my style of board. XR for the win~!~(with more power, and WTF rails)

Yeah, some of the decisions Tony made about BMSes are questionable. He mentioned that he has a charge-only BMS on its way for GT conversion kits which will turn a blown power FET into an uncontrollable battery fire. I have a Pint control board with a blown FET sitting on my bench so that's a big yikes in my book.

3:41 What is bold about a splitting battery pack?
@MrDmadness
@MrDmadness 6 ай бұрын
The connections between them are a bottleneck and potentially weak point, if the cells are close together the resistance between all the cells ( wire connections ) are uniform distance ( uniform resistance ) , by splitting the pack tge resistance between the last cell in 1 pack and the first cell in the 2nd is greater than all other wire connections. Im not a pcb level electrician so I'll wait for and be interested to hear Mario's take on it though as he's more an expert for sure in this component field than I am.

Yikes! That battery drain when powered off is insane! I've left my PintX off for well over a month and when I finally came back to it, it was still pretty much the same charge, it maybe lost 2%. And having cell undervoltage protection dump a rider because one cell fell below the limit isn't good either. It should just give a very noticeable warning to stop riding immediately!

There is an easy solution if you don’t mind soldiering. The problem will be fixed with V2 electronics. Wow. Didn't know the Floatwheel will also throw you if the battery is undervoltage. I figure it would be possible but was hoping that is not the case (considering how Tony mentioned it is more powerful than even a GT-S in a recent video). Oh well, I switched over to an electric longboard as my go to. Not as nimble as a OneWheel but a lot safer (no throwing me off without notice), lighter (less than 20 pounds, even my Pint is heavier than that), easier to carry (I bought skateboard straps that allow me to carry it on my back, < 20 pounds is easily manageable across both shoulders compare to an inbalanced one sided lug), faster (max speed at 29 mph, although I don't dare to hit that), cheaper ($400 Meepo V3S + $180 for 110mm cloudwheel rovers) and no mount of shame (in fact, very easy to hop on/off by holding down the brake, which locks the board in place). Don't get me wrong. I truly hope the VESC community succeeds in creating a PEV that is safe for commutes. I will still ride my Pint in a park or a bike path as it is fun, but that's about it.

If you think ya can't be thrown off an eskate I have bad news for you... If it suddenly looses power in the same manner it's going to rapidly slow down and unless you react very fast with your body position you're going off the front. If you have a fet failure or a few other things the wheel(s) can lock up creating a really severe case of this. NOTHING driven by electronics is fault-less.

@TheBoardGarage that's fair, it does undeniably have more power and a faster top speed. As you know more volts does /= more power to motor just a greater "pressure" to overcome resistance ( which could be a heavier rider ) I'd be curious to see a bench test of the static voltage, the freewheel amp flow and the in rush voltage. the static voltage and the amp flow alone are enough to know its potential work.
