I never knew these ceremonies existed and I feel out of place. There is so much indigenous culture to learn from.

@OM-HPC The Christian's bibles are just very badly mistranslated and corrupted versions of the Torah/Tanach, The Real Word of G_d, with a whole lot changed including names, a whole lot added, and a whole lot taken out. Everything that G_d said not to do, Christianity did! Christianity lies! NO Hebrew/Jew was ever named Jesus, nor John, nor especially James! There is No letter J in the Hebrew alephbet nor does any of the Hebrew letters even make a J sound. The One True Creator G_d gave specific details to the Hebrew prophets about when the Real Messiach comes. No One! Especially the so-called "Jesus " has fulfilled any of them yet. 1. When the Real Messiach comes, he will be a normal man from the line of David through Solomon and will sit on the throne of David and rule from there forever. * Obviously, that hasn't happened yet! 2. When the Real Messiach comes, it will be at the End of Days. *Obviously, back then was not the End of Days. 3. When the Real Messiach comes, the Temple will be rebuilt, never to be destroyed again, and the Messiach will start the animal sacrifices in the Temple again. * The opposite happened back then! The very fact that the Temple isn't standing proves that the so-called "Jesus " is Not The Messiach! 4. When the Real Messiach comes, Everyone around the world, including atheist, will know that he is The Messiach. * We KNOW that the so-called "Jesus " is Not The Messiach! 5. When the Real Messiach comes death will cease to exist. * Obviously that hasn't happened yet either because so many people are still getting sick and dying. 6. When the Real Messiach comes, there will be World Peace and weapons of war will be rebuilt into farming implements. *We're still waiting for that one!!! 7. When the Real Messiach comes, People around the world, from every language will grab the Jews and say "Now we know that we have inherited only lies and G_d has been with you Jews all along. Please 🙏 take us with you!" * We're still waiting for that one too!!! No where in the Torah/Tanach does it ever say that the Messiach will keep failing and have to come back again and again. According to Christianity the so-called "Jesus " already came back a second time, but he still never fulfilled any of these Prophecies. So now Christians are waiting for a third coming. Christianity strikes out again.

As a descendent of the Mexica, it's really interesting seeing the difference in dances and regalia between the Mexica (Aztecs) and the Tribes here in the north. Also there's no pyramids here in the North. The Aztecs actually found the pyramids and then learned how to make them. Every hill in Mexico City has a pyramid where the Spanish blew the capstones off and built directly above. Some say the Toltecs were the original pyramid builders and point to Toltec/Egyptian ruins on Mars and the Moon. I've always wondered why there's no pyramids in North America, at least none that I know of. And yes, I'm aware of the dirt mounds

Love this. As a Native American, my favorite part was watching you dance. Seeing how you trusted the circle, the dancers, and the drum, enough to let yourself go. You had a spiritual moment out there and I enjoyed hearing your experience after you were done dancing. Also, hearing how you felt out of place and intimidated.... now imagine being native American in a white dominated country.. we feel that same intimidation more often than not any time we leave the rez... people look at us sideways and think we're dumb just because we have different views and values of life. ❤

There is a term that my daughter in law ( who is Ojibwe) says to me when I feel like I tell her I am ashamed for what happened to the First Nations and that I feel out of place when I am on her reserve. She calls it White man's guilt. When my son married my daughter in law her father told me he felt afraid my family might not be thrilled about his daughter marrying a white boy. I told him that I also felt his family might not like us. I am fortunate to have made a new friend in him and the entire family. We keep in touch and enjoy our time with the entire family.

I'd say tho when or if you come just come to have a good time and take in the experience. A real good way to learn alot from a good teacher is to find an older native person to talk to. Alot of the times are elders have a ton of knowledge they want to pass on with few who are willing to put the effort to learn. But make sure you show them your serious and not playing around and really want to learn. Just being engaged and interested in learning about the culture is a really good one tho already because sometimes it's rare to see an outsider who is interested in the culture for some

I remember the police coming my mom showed up the guy got arrested and then I was invited to a powwow the following week and I had so much fun. I wonder if those guys are still around. It was in Western Massachusetts in the 90s and I’ve been gone since the early 2000s I wouldn’t even know where to look but I never forgot that day as I got older.

The word Powwow is derived from the Algonquin word pauwau which meant the one who dreams or the medicine man. I learned from the elders that Chanting and dancing on the drum is good medicine to come about Post-traumatic stress disorder. These events were outlawed in Canada and US and severely punished for a long time. Governments are still in many ways trying to force natives to abandon their Indian statutes and become ordinary citizens like everyone else meaning losing their culture and identity. That's what could be called mnemonic genocide. Hopefully, things will improve as governments are being forced by international law to change their laws and recognize native rights around the world. ♾♾🌲♾♾

What exactly are "native rights" We literally get to practice our language, dance the dances, sing the songs. From my experience it's natives who genocide other natives. Disenrollment, exclusion from meetings in the name of tribal sovereignty. If your or any natives for that matter were to let your ancestors see you and how you carry yourself, eating with a fork etc etc. They would off you in a second.

Thank you for sharing! Happy you had a great time! Proud that you had good sponsors, but they forgot to tell you about Indian time, loved the Cherokee princess joke 😂 Natááh'ndé Band Mescalero Apache here. I miss the powwow circuit in Northern California of the early nineties, every Gathering is the same yet each is unique. From March until October there was a pow wow happening every weekend within 100 miles of my home in those days. I Completed a four-year commitment as men's Southern traditional in that time. I see we don't have as many powwows as we used to, like we did then, and I pray that this returns. I am happy to see this pow wow was held outside, so many are indoors fees days. I remember when I was young, back in the 80s, we would build a fire in the center of the Arena. It would be good to see that again when we can do so. My regalia was retro, old school, even for that time. As dancers we put as much work into our regalia as we do our dancing. Every part of it holds deep meaning for us and it is tied to our ancestors Our Generation and the generations to come. It is good to understand that your life is not about you, your life is about your relationship with existence. In this way, even as flashy as these new regalia is these days, it is not about the individual but about relationship. These brilliant colors and flashy designs are there to Express gratitude, we have been through many hard times, and we still have hard times with so many outside influences that distract our youth, and others from right relationship: by this we shine brightly in Dark Times as a prayer for right relationship for our people, All Nations and all people, including the mineral people, plant people, and animal people. We pray for our leaders and honor our veterans, our mothers and elders. It is a good world to be in, and it is good to realize this is the spirit that America is supposed to carry. So I therefore encourage you, to take a bit of that fire, which we once built in the center of the Arena, and carry that Light Of Hope out into the world. All My Relations

My 2nd cousin was adopted into my family by my uncle on my father’s side of family. She is a Native American. I found that out in late June or early July 1993 just after dropping off my grandmother off for her visit. She spend a night at our house. My grandmother slept on the other twin bed in my bedroom. I even asked my mother is Cindy a Native American. My mother said yes. I said cool. I saw her again during my grandmother’s funeral in mid February 1994. I even held her hands during the service or something. I have seen her each year around my birthday since 2018 and even Thanksgiving. I always have a good time with her and her friend or even one of her 2 sons. My sister was surprised that she was adopted and even being a Native American. I did noticed when I first met her. My father was a good cousin and friends with her. He treated her as a part of his family. My uncle was a good father towards her.

@@michaelscott3222 Wow..lol...you certainly have read your white written books haven't you..a 30minute drive from in Lake County California is a small island on Clearlake known as Blood Island..the US government army murdered all Pomo men, women and children there in the early 1900's..of course whites refer to the island as something else if they refer to it at all. In the same county is a small town called Kelseyville, named after two brothers of the name Kelsey, they enslaved Pomo on their ranch, used and raped women..murdered those who wouldn't cooperate...all this is well known yet the local white government continues to honor that name with its own city...these are just two examples of the treatment of Pomo Natives, no doubt countless more atrocities took place..did they fight back? @@richnorcal no I'm actually native as well. Pomo is actually short for Pomoan. Bet you didn't know that in all of your educated years on this earth. I am well aware of the atrocities that have taken place in lake county and Mendocino county. And there's a clear distinction. West coast tribes willingly helped the white man, literally would wait on the coast to help ships when they arrived. Willingly accept help from the church, willingly would accept alcohol as payment to work the fields. The Pomoan tribe which falls under the Hokan language category was far and expanse as any community in North America pre Columbus. And yet the Pomoan is night and day compared to the Lakota and a crazy horse. The differences are vast. My point is no duh some tribes aren't going to be stoic like one would assume. The warriors are all gone, and the ones that did survive most likely didn't have offspring. Like a crazy horse. Stop being a victim. Atrocities happen worldwide and still to this very day.
