Sarah Bouhaddi was never going to play a match. She was brought in on a short term contract to provide a backup goal keeper while Sabrina D’Angelo was at the Gold Cup with Canada. This was said in a press conference when she arrived x

I don't think Emma thinks it's a problem *all* the time, or she wouldn't have brought Pernille Harder in when Magda Eriksson was the captain. Doubt Marta was trying to show Emma anything - if Marta were on the US team, I might believe it. Marta's goal was gorgeous and the running to Carrie was cute.

I think it really "affected" Emma losing both Magda and Pernille. Negotiations were ongoing for months but it didn't work out because Magda and Pernille couldn't stay together for the same period at Chelsea. I can't say this is why she made the statement, but from what we know of her as a manager, and the way the players talk about her, I don't think players in relationships was an issue before that.

The matches in the NWSL show why VAR is also needed in women's football. Unfortunately some clubs in the WSL can't afford installing VAR technology in their usually smaller stadiums. It also wouldn't be fair if only some clubs would use VAR (Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchster City and Manchester United when playing at the men's stadiums) and others not. So awesome of legend Marta running to hug her gf. I don't think she was thinking about Emma Hayes in this moment. Maybe Emma Hayes has the Ruesha, Katie and Caitlin drama on her mind while talking about player/player relationships. Sometimes it can happen that there is heavier traffic than expected, which might cause a delay. You should never stop playing before a referee blows the whistle, this is a lesson which also Aston Villa had to learn here.

if you guys knew what the traffic is like in London and around it, you wouldn't be surprised that Arsenal get delayed sometimes travelling to games. the trains are a disaster too so that's not the solution. but yes they are unlucky

The Villa game was great, but the refereeing wasn't. Arsenal deserved to win, and like you said, Anna Leat made some excellent saves, saving Villa from an embarrassing scoreline. I'm worried that Rachel Daly might leave this summer, but the fact that she's dating Sarah Mayling (a Brummie and an Aston Villa fan) gives me some hope. I hadn't seen that Marta clip; wonderful goal, wonderful celebration. 🙌

I was so excited about going to the opening game of the She Believes Cup but now with her there, wearing #15, knowing she hoped Rapinoe would get hurt in her final game, being a homophobe, along with Horan that thinks I am stupid....I think the fun of the game left me.

Hello Sarah and Sara. I know I kept going on about reversible socks, but I did not expect the bus to be in reverse. Big fuss about VAR in WSL as there were other issues last weekend. Jess Park was the star in Manchester, but there was a potential offside not given. West Ham had a potential goal struck off for dubious offside. In the game I played, the club had women's county players in my team, some with their partners. Picking teams could be tricky, especially if you wanted to get a female player practice for county games. However, we won stuff, both as teams and individuals, which made for great celebrations, even when the teams were in single gender competitions.

@@SaraSarah It was not a contact sport, just hand and eye. Strange, the only time I remember getting beaten by a woman, I lost by one point, and she had two start, so the handicap worked correctly. I would not have made the men's county team, though I had beaten men's county players occasionally. I was taught by a captain not to try to outpower a woman, but do something delicate and intricate. I said that women were the ones who usually cared for little babies. He agreed and said it proved his point.

I think Arsenal needs to hire an exorcist to purge the bad juju! Also need a sport psychologist to get them over the hump as a team! Their attacking line needs tweaking, needs speedy X factor, need better timing with their runs! how about Lily Yohannes now the Sophia smith signed again with thorns or any young and speedy South Americans(need some diversity)! Jonas has tunnel vision or Arsenal doesn’t want to spend on an interpreter for non English speaking players for a few months!

Don't whats going on with the off field people at Arsenal Women lately. I've never driven in England and I know North of London to Birmingham in the evening is likely to hit traffic. And you should plan to arrive somewhere close to Villa Park a couple hours early. That way if there is bad traffic you go straight to Villa Park and not be late. There was also a mens u18 Arsenal team game this season were the coach driver was heading to Bournemouths training ground But they were playing Brighton and game had to be postponed

Honestly, Arsenal were lucky not to have to forfeit the Match and the points given to Aston Villa? Can’t think of any other major WSL team who would have travelled that distance (ok, short by US distances, but a couple of hours or more)on the DAY of a match! 🤷‍♀️ Haha and yes! When i saw Marta running my first thought honestly was”she’s going to kiss her g/f as a statement to Emma! 😅” Btw, i always say l “don’t like Emma Hayes”, but i actually mean Chelsea (who are my team and everyone else’s bogey team 🥹😜). She may have committed a faux pas re the relationship thingy..but this is the women who bought each and every one of her Chelsea players a red rose and handed them out in the dressing room just prior to the team going out for the 2018 FA Cup final! The message being, apparently, “I love you all, o matter what the result” 🥰. Honestly, you are SO lucky to be having her 🇺🇸…but could you maybe take her before the end of the season so my beloved City can win the damned League?! 😄.

She knew coming in it was a short contract to cover D'Angelo being at the Gold Cup. Which was February 20 - March 10. Also Viv Lia had game time while Bouhaddi was there so was it a 100% white team?

You think Zinsberger's white? I think trying to pull the racism card is a bit rich here, she knew she was being brought in as cover. Is there a problem with not enough black women playing football in the WSL? Yes, absolutely, which is why you see so few British black women making it but it's a problem at a lower level of the pyramid, with fewer opportunities and resources, rather than discrimination at club management level.
