I met Shirley after a football game (we were both in high school). She gave me her phone number, I called, and we hit it off. She would put this record on the record player and sing it to me over the phone. This song brings back very pleasant memories. Thanks to Martha Reeves and Company.

Great song from HDH & Martha & the Vandellas.....👍
My favorite Martha and The Vandellas song. Yes, I like it even more than "Dancing In The Streets" and "Nowhere To Run."
@MrSteveb80 Жыл бұрын
it's mine also, sounds like the Temptations song, All I Need, which is my favorite song by them. wonder if the same Motown writers wrote both songs?

Love the start of this, reminiscent of Jam's 'Town called Malice'. Beautiful, Martha's Strong, Clear voice. Amongst the Best of Motown.
@failuremagnet4 жыл бұрын
"Reminiscent" ?? I'm a huge Jam fan, and I just heard this for the first time. It's not reminiscent... It's Weller stealing blatantly!! Not a doubt. Don't have a guitar handy, but I'll bet the chord changes are nearly the same, too.

I would give anything to get back the naivety of my youth. I was a much happier, healthier, well-rounded person. This song will always remind me of the excitement and mystery of youth. I swear the racial tensions and political BS poison that we are experiencing today in the US were not so strong 10 years ago, even in spite of my own ignorance. I can attest to that based on the circumstances of my own life. I miss 2006. :(

Many thanks for posting. Last time I heard this song was about 40 years ago and it still sounds great! I love that unusual rattle sound Jack Ashford makes on the tambourine. The heyday of Motown was a peak in US cultural history...

I was only in fourth grade when this song first came out. This was when I was listening to the Boss Jocks on Famous 56, WFIL, here in Philly. Yes. Even as a fourth-grader, I was exposed to this music. And I still love it 50 years later! Today's music belongs in the garbage can! It's nothing but trash, junk, and filth!
