Martin Guitars D-28 1943 Acoustic Guitar Adirondack / Brazilian Rosewood.
In absolutely magnificent 'museum' like condition and inspiring to play. The instrument was resprayed some 22+ years ago, however, everything else is all original including the case!

The guitar has recently had a neck reset and full inspection from UK's leading Martin expert David King of Dave King Acoustics LLP.
Here is what Dave King has to say about the instrument:

"...There are a couple of things that give the guitar away as having been resprayed. For example, when I removed the neck a small build-up of lacquer was visible around the neck join.
Saying that it was done many years ago and very well !!! It’s a great guitar..."

As we know the Martin D-28 is an absolute benchmark dreadnought and early D-28s rank as some of the most collectible acoustic guitars ever. When Martin introduced the D-28 in 1931, it laid the groundwork for where the acoustic guitar industry would go. Very few D-28s were made in the first several years of production, up until a switch was made from a 12-fret to a 14-fret neck in 1934. By 1943, other changes include a decrease in nut width and the use of scalloped bracing.
Comes with original case (new handle).

Beautifully played. I really enjoyed it. It is not just that it is made of spruce and Brazilian rosewood. It is very important that the wood is well aged.

The new authentic series, Martin D28-1937 is a really excellent quality instrument they have made. I own one and it's alive with a lot of soul. My friend has a 1941 D28 like the one in this video. I would tell you that the Brazilian Rosewood, Adirondack tops are classics for sure! But pick up a 1937 D28 Authentic series and give it a try if you haven't...I was impressed when I got mine.

@@prslespaul Depends on which Yamaha model you're talking about. Cause Yamaha have been doing exceptionnal models in the 70's that have been used a lot by famous players like Paul Simon or Berth Jansch. I would not be surprised these models sound as good as a brazilian rosewood D28

Yamaha's are underrated. I had $2,800 Martin I bought (they're around 3.5k now new for similar model). I prefer my $800 Yamaha. I sold that Martin for a PRS

All D-28’s had herringbone until 1947. After that D-28’s didn’t have herringbone until the HD-28 model was introduced in 1976. So this 1943 model is indeed a regular 28 with the herringbone.

Outstanding guitar but terrible demo. This guy is playing it like a nylon string classical guitar. What a waste of time.

IMO he is just extracting the quintessence of each note by playing the instrument gently. Because it's a dread doesn't mean you have to strum it loudly. Also, you don't play a nylon string classical guitar with a pick ;-)
