One of my favorite Martina songs.. You closed your eyes around the time that the video revealed that the little boy was actually an angel. He walked through the people standing at the funeral to meet the girl standing on the other side who had passed away.. In the end you see them running to join the other children who have also passed on.. "God's Will" is another great song to check out by Martina..

I apologize for the lengthy comment. My mother was a teacher and through the years of working in childcare myself, I found out it is ILLEGAL for a teacher or childcare worker that suspects abuse to not report it. My first employer lied to me about what to do in that situation (she said report it to her alone and tell no one else), My second employer informed me that if I suspected abuse and did not report it to the police, then I would be arrested myself for failure to report it. I am proud to say that in both my mom's career and mine that we each only had to do a few child services reports and that in each case we reported of children abused in our care, ALL were removed from their dangerous situations and placed into stable LOVING homes for these poor traumatized children. I didn't care if it angered an employer and risked me losing my job. All that mattered was ensuring that the children in our care were now safe because we were brave enough to report it. If you can save a child, the risk to your job doesn't matter, the ONLY things that mattered to us was protecting the children in our care to the fullest extent of what was possible. It bring us great comfort that the handful of child abuse reports we handled, ALL of the children went to homes where they were able to have happy, whole lives where they were loved unconditionally. I'll end in a quote, "Be the change you wish to see in the world" and that "All it take for evil to prosper is for good men/women to do nothing. P.S I WISH that growing up my teachers had been brave enough to save me. Many of them suspected abuse but did nothing. If they had then the Hell I went through could've ended at least 3 years before it actually did and the only reason it ended when I was 11 is that God's retribution came for him to deal out karma the karma he deserved. Love your children as the blessing from God that they truly are!

I have raised 3 boys and 2 girls.. and truly blessed they were never abused at home or outside of our home... but It was truly a constant scare for me.. I remember when I got a phone call from the school nurse that my oldest daughter was in her office .. I said why... because she had chapped lips... I had to go to school with chapstick.. I admit.. I was ticked off.. Really... you're calling me about chapped lips.. but I did go with chapstick to school... lol . Like I said. truly blessed because we live in a scary ass world were children sometimes don't have a voice... they should be our priority always. protect them

I grew up in the 60's and 70's, CPS was pretty much unheard of unless you beat your child so bad, they had to be hospitalized or beat the child to death. Back then it was considered a family matter. A lot of us were abused physically, mentally and for some sexually. My brothers were in a physically abusive family, the last time I was hit, I turned around and hit my stepdad back, I was 16, a couple of days after I graduated from high school I ran away, I was 17 and I never went back.

This is where people are missing out today. They want to put music in categories. People want to day music in certain groups. Don't people know if you just want to put a label on music like, country, rock, etc. then you:the missing out on some singers. Martina is a perfect example. The public wants to call her country, but she's been around for years. Don't lose great singers because of them being in a wrong group of. singers. For gosh sakes! Enjoy the music!

Exactly! I listen to all types of music and I put it all on a huge line - one end marked like, the other disliked. Every single song falls somewhere on that continuum. And never be scared to try a new artist. I clicked on The Sound of Silence by Dan Vasc on 9/15/20, and it literally changed my life for the better in a million ways - his great musr, new friends all over the world, a plethora of new entertainment via musicians and other KZfaqrs. Life has been so much better since I heard that song!

Please Google this. I also believed this was the case based on something I found online, but someone corrected me, so I went to do more research. Every other source I pulled up said that this is not true. I went back to look it up again and couldn't even find the original source any longer. The song may be based on an actual event, but does not appear to have been Martina's niece.

This is not true. Martina McBride did not write this song about any family member. The song has no connection to any family member or friend of McBride’s. That is a myth. This song was written by Stephanie Bentley and Rob Crosby. The closest inspiration for the song is Judith Barisi, a child star who was murdered along with her mother by her abusive father at the age of ten under very similar (and yet far more gruesome) circumstances, with Barsi’s gravestone also bearing the phrase “our concrete angel.” However, the relation is a pure coincidence.

Teachers, social workers, emergency and police and hospital personnel are all mandated reporters by law for adult and child abuse, neglect and exploitation. I should know. I was an adult and child protective social worker in Alabama for 25 years. Very hard work. But worth it. I still have nightmares over what I saw and I've been retired for 12 years. He isn’t just a little boy, he knows what’s coming, he is an angel sent to bring her to where she’s loved. He befriends her, he looks to heaven when he knows it’s near, he stands at her grave then walks through people to meet her spirit, and take her home.

I grew up in an extremely abusive household. A lot of the violence was fueled by alcohol. I witnessed my mother and siblings getting beat. I once watched my dad beat my mom with a cast iron pan. Not only did I witness but no one in the house including myself was immune. I endured being stabbed by my dad, being locked in a closet with no food, water, or bathroom and even having nails placed in the bottom of my feet so I couldn't run from all the abuse I was going through. I finally escaped and went to the authorities only to be told I was the bad one for running away. I was so scared Social Services was going to put me back, so I ran away from them too. I spent the next 6 years homeless and wandering either on the streets or living temporarily with someone I knew or met. Years later I visited with one of my old teachers from school and confessed to her about my family. She said she had suspicions and had called the authorities. They must have not taken her seriously because nothing ever came of it. Now, people have asked me how do I know? Maybe she was lying but I had witnessed others call the authorities and all I ever got was them telling my parents. "Hey, you know you're not supposed to be during that?" My parents would say "No we would never do that." and that was the end. So even when the authorities are called at least in my day you didn't always get help.

Martina McBride's song ALWAYS gets me tearing up if not bawling. There is never an excuse to abuse anyone, let alone a child. Children should be protected and loved, not mistreated and harmed. If I remember correctly, teachers are mandated reporters, so if they suspect something they HAVE to say something. It's insane to me how many children have been failed by not only their parents, but others who were in a position to help. It's such a huge issue that this is reality for a lot of kids. No one deserves to be abused so if you see, hear, or suspect something, then say something. Don't wait for someone else to say something because the likelihood of someone saying something decreases.

Not sure if this is everywhere but here, if a teacher suspects abuse, they have to report it to CAS (children’s aid society) or the police. Police or CAS investigate to determine whether or not there is abuse. I have had the unfortunate experience of making these calls a few times in my life…they’re painful but we got to protect the kids we care for.

By law Teachers have to report signs of abuse. Even if they just suspect. Neighbors hear a cry in the night but they turn out the lights. We all know what happens in this world.
