Martina Navratilova was born Martina Šubertová on October 18, 1956 in Prague Czechoslovakia. Martina is one of the greatest tennis players of all time. Navratilova was number one in the world for 332 weeks. Martina has won 18 Grand Slam titles in singles, 31 in doubles and 10 in mixed. Here you get a small impression of how good Martina was. She wrote tennis history, the best female serve and volley player ever. For me, she and Serena are the GOATs.

Greatest volley EVER- male or female! 167 singles titles and 178 doubles- two numbers that will NEVER be touched! (Federer 103 singles, 8 doubles. Serena- 73 singles and 23 doubles). Martina's THE GOAT!!!!! Slams weren't the be all/end all until the late 80s when she was past her prime. she skipped about 6 Australians early in her career, when it was played on grass and 5 times at end of career. She skipped the French 10 times. World Team Tennis was played during the French back in the late 70s- even Chris Evert skipped it 3 times then... WTT was more important to the game than the French was then- players signed big dollar contracts like all the other sports to play it. Both Chris and Martina could have 4-6 more majors each- easily if they they were on level they are today.

Martina was the best pusher and volleyer women's tennis has ever seen. I put her right behind Serena and Steffi.

Yes, Martina was really good, she won a total of 59 Grand Slam titles (singles, doubles, mixed). Incomprehensible. I just finished a new video of her about serve and volley. I'll upload next week.

90% of these clips are from late in her career- past he prime- didn't see anything from her near invincible years- 82-86 (losses 82-3, 83-1, 84-2, 85- 5, 86-3)

And that’s just singles. She had similar records in doubles and mixed doubles during those years. 6 straight singles GS titles(record) and during that same period she won the Grand Slam in doubles. GOAT

@@MrPernell27 between 1983 and 1984- she and Pam won 109 straight doubles matches, including 1984 calendar grand slam.

She was good enough to win more matches and more titles than any player in the history of tennis. Male or female. Not to mention being ranked in the top five from 1977 to 1994. Enough said!

WRONG!!!. Martina is the GOAT with 59 Grand Slam Titles and the nearest to her total is Serena Williams with 36!!!. Martina won 167 MAJOR SINGLES TITLES AND 177 MAJOR DOUBLES TITLES including a WORLD RECORD 9 Singles titles at Wimbledon no other player comes close!!!.

This is not correct. Margaret Court leads with 64 GS titles. Martina is second with 59. Serena and Billie Jean King are tied for third with 39 GS titles each.@@TheDiana1

@@TheVerbalVolley at least 12 of those titles should be taken off Court's titles!!!. Very few players went to Australia so Court almost won by default!!!. Plus Martina won more singles, doubles and mixed doubles titles than any other player male or female IN HISTORY so she QUITE CLEARLY is the GOAT!!!.

I TOTALLY agree with you, Diana. During Margaret's reign in Oz, BJK only played in 1965, 1968 (when she won Oz by beating Margaret 6/1,6/2, and 1969 (losing in the final to Margaret 6/4,6/1. Court also won numerous doubles and mixed titles when her main rival did not play Down Under. The same can be said for Roland Garros. BJK was not allowed to even play there (the USLTA controlled where the players were allowed to play at that time) until 1968. Margaret already had amassed two singles titles there and numerous doubles titles. Court was a tremendous champion. She really was, and I greatly admire her for her accomplishments. But one wonders how many more titles BJK would have won had she been allowed to play in those two events with more frequency. I do, however, disagree with you in terms of Martina being the GOAT. That honor should go to Suzanne Lenglen. @@TheDiana1

@@TheDiana1, you`re right Court got it much more easy in her time, because there were only very few good tennis player. She rarely had a serious competitor
